But is Magic experience still not far more expensive than melee experience, which costs next to nothing and is AFK'able? Bursting lobsters is very fast, but it is also very expensive, though I do agree that the charms are worth it. The fact is that melee experience is still very fast, easy, and profitable. As a side note, Slayer is not normally trained with magic, so an extra 15k experience per hour is quite nice. It really adds up in the long run when going for 99 Slayer.

Oh I get it. You get 71, 70, 70 before me, but when I level I get 71, 71, 71 while you're still working on 71 defense since you used a Saradomin Sword to train Strength while I used a whip. I get it. Yeah, you win. You're totally right. Magic experience is far more valuable than melee experience, which is incredibly easy to train as proven by Compfreak himself.

Magic experience is costly. Melee experience is quite easy to accumulate, as you've shown yourself. I share Inuashakent's sentiment that combat familiars should be used as often as possible. Off the top of my head, I can think of Abyssal Demons, Mithril Dragons, Dark Beasts and Wyverns as tasks that require healing/BOB familiars. While it's not 15k experience right off the bat, it's still enough to warrant the extra speed and experience of a combat familiar. Also, the point still stands that Slayer potentially trains eight skills at once.

Um, Slayer, HP, attack, defense, strength, range, and magic. That's six, not three. Also, if you plan on maxing total level, you should absolutely train combat with Slayer. It wouldn't be worth the extra time to max melee THEN max Slayer. But your training 3 at a time but you get 1/3 of the xp. Your not going to train range/mage and every combat stat at the same time... Mutated Velds: Cannon, combat familiar (magic), training controlled. O LAWD we is trainin' six stats at once. Must be hackin da R00nscape. EDIT: Seven, I forgot about HP. I think I might be dividing by zero whenever I get a velds task. Also, by training controlled, you level three stats at once when you level. It's faster than training one melee stat at a time because you get to use a whip constantly. The only tasks that you should NOT be using a whip on are Waterfiends and Gargoyles. Controlled is not faster. Tell me your wondrous rates of magic xp from a combat familiar. Hp xp is lessenedby cannon. And I would like to see you use that method for all your tasks, because that is what slayer is, a random assortment of monster tasks. 0 dam u must be trainin liek 8 4 u can get summon xp bi sumoning a famerler. -.- Controlled isn't faster? How so? If you're using a Saradomin Sword 1/3 of the time versus a whip almost 100% of the time, what's going to net you more experience? You don't magically lose experience by training controlled, it just splits the experience into three different stats, so it gives the illusion of leveling slower, but you level three skills at once. 15k extra experience per hour with a Wolpertinger. Roughly. Magic experience is worth more than range or melee experience. By using a cannon you greatly increase your speed and Slayer experience per hour, which is your goal if you're training Slayer. The ONLY task that I do that I cannot use a cannon, combat familiar, or both, is Abyssal Demons. And actually, if you'd like to count summoning, we can include the charms from Slayer as well. So you're right, make that eight.

  6. Yes, and? It still dosent stop the fact that if someone gets multiple 99's in less than a year, plays to much. Sure im not saying they are a nerd, they could be awesum in all ways, but they still play to much, so they still fit into the average runescape players perception of "nerd" Perhaps you yourself would need to play "too much" to max total level, but other players are efficient and know what they are doing. You assume that every player is like you and wastes time sitting in banks doing nothing.

  8. I think life with god would be more meaningful than without. If we were just a mere accident, then that implies that there is nothing special about us at all. Sure, there is the fact that we overcame those ridiculous odds, but that's not really for us to gloat about since we had nothing to do with it (in the sense that we did not choose to evolve into humans from microorganisms). We are nothing more than a byproduct of the universe - like dust. If god exists, that implies meaning because there is always a reason for creating something. An artist paints to make something beautiful, a lyricist writes to appeal to the audience's ear, a chef cooks to make a delightfully tasty dish. If there is a god then we can wager that we have a reason for being here. You lack the confidence to create your own meaning and worth? If you live to die, what can you possibly contribute to the well being of the human race? If you live to live, you see the value in contributing to society, in furthering yourself as a person rather than preparing for death. If you lack talent and creativity, live for your family. You look forward to death because you're lazy, or maybe because you just don't care. People like you are the reason that we have yet to embrace cultural and physical differences. People who believe that the afterlife is the only life that matters are why we have yet to solve world hunger, AIDS, and cancer. If you don't care, how do you expect to contribute to the world as a whole?
  9. You almost couldn't have picked such bad examples. Both of those players quit Runescape because they played far too much and it was affecting them. Apparently Zarfot is coming back after quitting only to get into playing other games just as much as he overdid it with Runescape. Something along the lines of If im going to overdo it might as well over do it with Runescape a game I like and still have goals in. Wow, really? Thank you for the irrelevant commentary. Time is THE most important, money later, and being "swift" with the mouse is last. I don't care how efficient you are, if you don't have alot of time on your hands, your not going to get very far. You're absolutely right about time, and being swift with a mouse cuts down on that time dramatically. Money is least important seeing as how it's so easy to make. "A lot of time" is extremely relative. It may take "a lot of time" for YOU to max out, but for someone who has made it a goal and who knows what he/she is doing, it could take as a little as a year and a half. A good portion of that time would be spent Runecrafting and Slaying.
  10. Look, it dosent really matter how efficiently you train, if you have multiple 99's in less than a year, without bug abuse/extreme luck and money to throw around, you probably play to much, or have far to much time to throw around (primary school, etc) Thats not to say your a nerd, because nerds would spend there time doing homework, etc, not playing runescape, but it would make them what runescapers perceive as "nerdy". Actually, it matters very much how efficiently you train. Who is going to get 99 fletching faster, the guy fletching dragon darts, or the guy making arrow shafts? If you're good at this game, like a few other posters have said, you don't need to spend a ton of time playing to get a lot of experience. Consider that you probably log on and just stand around doing nothing while the top ranked players are out there working very hard on gaining experience. It all adds up. And, its still going to take forever, and you need to get the money in the first place to fletch the dragon darts by either extreme luck, or epic skilling and combat to get money. Stop focusing on the example rather than the point. The point is that if you waste zero time while you're logged in and you're as efficient as possible (which doesn't have to cost a lot of money), you can max out relatively quickly. N0va and Zarfot are good examples. Money will help, but being swift with a mouse is equally important.
  11. There are also seven Harry Potter books. SEVEN. Hogwarts MUST exist. Harry Potter is not considered a primary resource. Do you even know what a primary resource is? Go google it, and find out how you've already failed to disprove my point. Oh man, I'm lol'ing again. I think Reb summed up my thoughts quite well.
  12. Okay.
  13. There are also seven Harry Potter books. SEVEN. Hogwarts MUST exist.
  14. And are you denying the existence of God because you haven't actually seen him...or her? Can't say I've ever seen a museum with God bones in it  I lol'd. Hard.

  16. Yeah it was backwards, but with the profit from Green Dragons you could get 83 slayer faster then player A did. Also who says player B has to train slayer? Slightly faster, but Player A will be able to make a lot more money during the time it takes Player B to catch up. Player B certainly does not have to train Slayer, but he then lives with being inferior to Player A, and that brings me back to my original point: If you don't care about total levels, don't train Slayer. Simple. If you want to be a zezima, and get max total xp, get 99 melees first and then get your slayer up (from 55) while training your maxed melees. You'll max melee experience WAY before you max Slayer experience, so it'd still be a waste of time to do it your way.
  17. I lol'd. I don't actually know why you're laughing at that, because what I said is a fact, if you max out it's obviously taken you a long time, it's mandatory. Obviously, and Zarfot has done it faster than anyone. I laughed at your attempt to downplay his incredible achievement. It's not hard or even a hard task anymore, it's over 400K xp an hour legitimately and you're allowed to use MouseKeys as well which boosts it to around 470K an hour which makes it 380 hours (rounded up) from level 99. Can YOU get ~180m prayer experience at ~500k exp per hour in a bit over a month? Do you have the funds? Do most players meet the criteria?
  18. I don't see the difference between gravity and evolution. Both are clearly wrong, because we used to think the Earth was flat and the center of the universe. Obviously something better will come around and we'll be wrong, so why care? That's never been an argument in the first place. If I'm completely misinterpreting, misunderstanding, or missing something, please let me know, but did you just say that evolution and gravity are clearly wrong? Like, comparing them to the existence of Gods?
  19. Obtaurian replied to compfreak847's topic in Rants
The profit made from Slayer is better spent on prayer potions and cannonballs that will allow you to slay faster.
  20. On the subject of the probability of intelligent beings randomly popping into existence, consider that our planet is tiny speck located in one arm of our galaxy, which is in turn part of a cluster of galaxies, which is turn part of a supercluster. Superclusters may contain as little as a few hundred clusters, or thousands of clusters. There are hundreds of thousands of superclusters. The probability of life NOT forming given the expanse of the universe is extremely low. Our planet is the perfect distance from the sun, but we've recently discovered an extrasolar gas planet that has moons that are the perfect distance from their star. That is only one example from a system that is close by. Will intelligent life form on every planet that can support life? No, not necessarily. Is it probable? Absolutely.
  21. I would be surprised and extremely happy if Jagex did something like this. It's a spectacular idea, really.
  22. Yes. But he limits himself to give man the freedom of choice. Can I just ask you a second question after this one? Are you Christian? I need to know before we continue this discussion, because as far as I'm aware, Christians claim God to be omniscience and omnipotent, and you claim to know the inner workings of Gods mind and actions. So I'm wondering if maybe you worship some sort of Pagan sheep god, because clearly we're talking about two different gods here. The Christian God is omniscience, therefore all knowing, therefore he knows the future, therefore there is no free will. Oh, how tactful and respectful you are. Christians have long argued the powers of God and what the meaning of infinity and all mighty when it comes to God, In other words not all Christians are alike or share the exact same beliefs. The Bible has been interpreted in many different ways over many years. The meaning of omniscient when it comes to God can be interpreted differently. I believe he has the power, he just chooses not to use it unless necessary. It's the same with creating the Universe, why did he do it in six days if he's all powerful? I think he did so because he enjoyed doing so. Think of an artist, or a craftsman, or someone that has a hobby and really likes doing what they do. If they had the choice to make everything instantly, things would become boring. It's the journey that counts more, not the end result. As for my religion, I am a Christian, non-denominational. Well then that's the end of our debate. We are not arguing with logic, we are arguing your personal beliefs, whether they are the commonly accepted Christian beliefs or not. I can never win such an argument, no matter how great mine is. Have a nice life.

  24. MisterGreen, please answer my question: Is God all knowing?
