Jagex, the Antichrist
I agree. In fact, my "Times" article centers around skepticism regarding the update rollout system. Predictably, I was met with an unprecedented wall of flame (how dare I question the new CEO that has yet to introduce any new content!). Hell of a thoughtful community we have here, isn't it? Look, I'm giving the guy the Obama treatment. I know he'll be crappy, but I gotta wait 6 months until I can really criticize him. You know, they both took over around the same time... OMG, the new head of Jagex is Obama! And he knows that Sailing is only for rich people and he hates rich people so he told everyone no Sailing in Runescape! That kinda sucks for all the people who wanted to sail... But anyway. Soul Wars: Same old stuff -.- Phoenix Cave: crap quest, decent daily activity :) Seer's Diary: Good stuff, no complaints \ Evil Tree: Pretty neutral to it :| And the rest of those glorified patch notes they're calling updates. :shame: Oh Jesus, you are a clever, clever man. Comparing Obama to the new CEO of Jagex while insulting them both? Classy. You're paranoid and pessimistic for no apparent reason. Also, you mentioned that they should just release updates when they're completely, 100% ready. Is that not the entire point of getting rid of the BTS? So they can do just that? So what's your point? Tell me, Libs, what do you enjoy in Runescape? Do you enjoy certain skills, minigames, pvp, pvm, what? Let's pinpoint exactly why you play this game so we can figure out why you feel that Jagex is out to get you.

mining, don't do it- waste of time
The fastest way to train Runecrafting is through the ZMI altar. Rune mining is better money than Runecrafting until 91 RC. Runecrafting requires more attention and micromanagement for slower experience assuming max speeds at ZMI compared to max speeds mining granite. Mining does not need to be made easier because it is not all that difficult in the first place, and at the relatively low level of 85, you can make nearly as much cash per hour as 91 Runecrafting. Why DOES it need to be made easier? Why is it absolutely essential to the gameplay experience of all players that mining be made easier?

Is God real post your thoughts!
Never talk about religion with anyone (irl). Matters will not end well. You have an opinion that, sadly, I must admit I once held, but it's a juvenile one, and I hope you grow out of it. Somewhat. Sometimes people are religious for the wrong reasons, but that's no reason to make a prejudiced, unjust statement like the one you're makin' right now. Supernatural forces. =/= Religion. It's close but not the same. The only difference is that you give money to religion. :-k

Jagex, the Antichrist
I have only ever been (briefly) disappointed with Jagex when they've made an obvious mistake that would be fixed soon. Other than that, I don't mind when an update comes along that I know I wont use. I was never butthurt over the removal of the Old Wilderness and free trade. Maybe I'm just easy to satisfy, but I feel as though I have plenty to do in this game already. If they only released major updates once every six months, I'd still be happy playing. Kids and teenagers generally need instant gratification, so they play the game from update to update, quit often, and get frustrated when they log in and see a low combat level on their account.

Username Hoggers
Seems like no one is reading your post. I agree that accounts abandoned at Tutorial Island for more than six months should be deleted.

your total level sucks!
I agree that you shouldn't be looked down upon for enjoying certain aspects of the game, but I just wanted to point out that when you farm, you should just be planting your herbs and leaving them while you do something else. Barrows, in your case. If you did that, you'd make a lot more money for very, very little work. Just a hint. Take it as you will.

RuneScape Q&A Further Answers 05-Mar-2009
I'm looking at that page..there's NOTHING about those 3 at all. Not only that as my post clearly stated there are FOUR more slots, so there can't be a "last 3" there gotta be at least FOUR That doesn't exactly prove anything. It just shows they've used contrasting places within rs to describe what the diaries are about. It doesn't in anyway confirm they are going to be diaries. I mean that description has been there since Karamja diary came out so if it was a hint of diaries to come or any order we would surely have thoose 3 by now. Instead of Varrock, Falador, Lumbridge, Seers, and Fremminik Such a pessimist. It's obviously a hint, but it in no way implies that "we would surely have those three by now."

mining, don't do it- waste of time
Demand wont change for rune ore. Very, very few people use it to level smithing, and there are no other applicable uses. Prices would drop, but not enough to coax smithers into buying it. It would have negative effects on miners with no positives other than slightly faster experience. But regardless, I'm glad that you've finally stated it to be your opinion rather than some perfect solution that needs to happen. Good job.

Is this game worth playing anymore?
ITT: We cry about the old days. As a player who's been around since 2001, it is of my opinion that the game has never been better.

what does the summoning lvl do ?
They simply drain while you have a familiar out. Say the familiar you're trying to summon requires an initial 8 points, if you have less, you can't summon it, so you use potions to restore your level. That's it, it just forces you to use super restores/summoning potions.

Prove the person above you right.
You did play a great game of Monopoly. I just lost the game.

New skill concepts.
So in effect, you demand perfection? You will never be satisfied. Actually, I'm quite satisfied with a good number of skills. What I gave was a list of qualities that I felt made great skills the way they were, which is exactly what was asked for.

RuneScape Q&A Further Answers 05-Mar-2009
Yes. "Jagex, why won't you talk to us?" "Because you don't take anything I say maturely. Either I'm promising an update or I'm forshadowing the destruction of the game." "Oh. K. By the way you said destruction, you know what that means." "What?" "SAILING SKILL! DESTRUCTION OF OTHER SHIPS! PVP SAILING" "I never stated that" "stated...stated...saturday! You're releasing it this saturday? That's an odd day for an update. I'll go tell everyone on tip.it. Man this'll be AWESOME! Saturday release of the sailing skill!!!! WOO, now I have a reason to not ragequit, your promise has given me so much hope!!!" "" Moral of the story: Speculators are the #1 cause of suicide in the Jagex Towers. And no, the S in suicide does not hint towards Sailing I love you. Even though they're only in planning, I'm looking forward to the prayer updates and mahjarrat quests. It wasn't terribly informative, but it was a nice read.

New skill concepts.
I think Summoning is a great balance of a skill that requires both work and money. You have to collect charms and pay for shards/seconds, and it all contributes to an end product that is undeniably useful in everyday 'scaping. Ideally, I'd like to see a skill like Summoning in that it requires money and hard work. I'd like it to be like Hunter in that it produces useful items or methods for other skills. Preferably something that will benefit the player more and more as they reach higher levels, rather than stopping or not improving as you progress, so think mining, but to a larger extent. Something that costs money but pays off in the end. I'm not too worried about a skill that produces profit, like Runecrafting. More like Summoning where the money spent pays for itself. Also, like Slayer, a skill that is not trained through grinding. Like Farming, it could also incorporate patience. I think more than anything, it needs to be a skill that can be trained in a diverse way, each with benefits and detriments, but all about equal, depending on the taste of the player. Think Thieving, Hunter, Magic, Construction, etc, but to a greater extent. It could also incorporate something like rune mining and dragon impling hunting. A profitable task that requires a relatively high level, and gives little experience. /my two cents. EDIT: 9/10 posters in this thread will mistakenly assume that you're asking for ideas for names of skills, or that you're asking for their opinion on how to upgrade existing skills.

mining, don't do it- waste of time
I never said that high levels don't deserve what they earned with their time/money. Making mining easier has nothing to do with high levels having advantages. Like the recent red salamander update. Nobody much spammed on the forums about that. As long as the update to make mining easier isn't too drastic, not make every rock have as much logs as woodcutting. Or every rock MIGHT have more than one ore, but after mining one ore you have to click again to mine the next one. This will make mining not as afkable as you have to keep clicking. What I see is you not being able to cope with change. Runescape has been made easier to play so many times. Cook X option and Pest control made people mad about doing it the "honourable" way and felt their effort was wasted. Example: You get 99 cooking without the "cook x" option because you started playing long ago. Then, a newcomer comes and gets 99 cooking much faster with the cook x option. So you're going to get mad? The newcomer gets the advantages of change because he came later. You get the advantage of starting earlier. I love change, actually, but I'm not cool with the idea of turning mining into Woodcutting #2. Mining is it's own skill, and I prefer to keep it that way. Now, please, can you explain your point? Why does mining need to change?

Opinions on Revenants?
I go Rev hunting for fun. I have yet to run into a dragon, but the knights aren't too difficult. I can kill a bunch before banking.

mining, don't do it- waste of time
And I never said that I can't stand mining for goodness's sake!!!!!!!!! It is very hard to train(not too hard to train). So when a skill is too hard, it automatically needs to be updated to become easier? Maybe before you had something going, but now you're just pushing it way too much. Also, it doesn't matter what you change, if you get more ores per rock, you WILL see a CONSIDERABLE loss in profit. SO what if you get a considerable loss of profit? You can't bear to lose it? While mining a high lvl ore, you can afk too. Most people don't afk while mining but they clan chat or read other stuff/whatever while mining. You need to pay some attention, but you can still afk. Smithing balanced? You must be mad. It can't even generate much profit unless you get the materials yourself/smith steel bars. I still don't see a well thought out argument. You just keep saying, "mining is hard make it easy what you cant stand to lose your source of income make it easy anyway!!!!!!!!!!!"

But, this is a very lackluster update. The bank tabs and search engine released last year was a true improvement- this is just a piddling little tweak that has a minimalistic impact on the gaming experience. When I heard this was going to be a fix-it/improvement year, I was pleased. But the largest improvement released so far was the Random Removal- something promised early last year. Or maybe even in December 07. The only other that came close was the removal of the censor and I have very mixed feelings about that. And saying that other games don't update nearly as frequently is not a good idea. As anyone who compares Runescape to another game in a negative way can attest, players constantly say Runescape is not other games. If we want to go that route, why not ask why Runescape's combat is so antiquated compared to WoW or AoR? Or why other games have free markets and we don't? And so on and so forth. Although I agree we don't have the need for something big EVERY week, the content updates I've seen recently have been... repugnant to me. The only quest of the year was a tutorial for a new Distraction, and the rest were minigames and more Distractions. True, we're only two months in, but so far I've been very disappointed and have seen no reason to renew membership. And this glorified patch does nothing to change that. There have been a good number of extremely helpful tweaks and fixes this year, and I believe Brianite's main point was that we can't expect a big update every week. Do you really play Runescape for the updates? There's already an overwhelming amount of things to do in this game. Unless you're maxed, played and "beat" every minigame (4k Chompy kills, CW gold armor, etc), have your quest cape, can solo every boss sans CB, and own an Elysian/Divine shield, I see no reason to complain that we didn't get horses this week.

They used to do about 1 update a month, they have stepped it up now to 2 big updates each month, and 2 weeks of bug fixes, you don't need something brand new to do every week. Play the game for what it is, not what updates are released each week, you dont have a single 99 and your stats are not that high, go train them before you complain that there is nothing in the game. I am very happy currently with the updates we get, and each week they are making the game slightly better. I don't need a HUGE update with new quests and miningames every week, I am currently happy with training my skills as they are. Well said. ADD runs quite rampant on these forums, apparently.

I agree with a another poster who said that these are the types of updates that affect us for the rest of our RS career. I'm no where near maxed, I don't have any 99's, and I haven't even played every minigame. If I don't get any new content for a few weeks, I have no right to complain. There are plenty of options to keep me busy. That said, I'm digging these little upgrades.

Oh how I miss you BTS...
I've always liked the BTS, and I'll miss it, but I think this is a step in the right direction. The fact that I didn't even notice there wasn't a BTS today says something about how much I really miss it, I guess.
