  1. There's really not. You could say the same about cooking. And after you answer them questions, it's just clicking and waiting. It's not difficult to figure out them answers yourself, so that still doesn't make it hard. Well I suppose you could say everything in runescape is a series of clicking with more or less waiting in between. How bout you put on your best stuff and go click and wait at the gargoyles and tell us how that works out for you?
  2. When I was a boy, we didn't get to ride the bus to school, no! We had to walk! Ten miles! Uphill! In the snow! And then we had to walk back home! Ten miles! Uphill! In the snow! Those were the days!
  3. This is a good point. Why would Jagex make a simple dragonstone item trump the zerker or archer? Does the glory trump the fury? Does the combat bracelet trump barrows gloves? I've been wearing the ROW (even though I have all of the other rings), but maybe the zerker or archer would be better in the long run?
  4. I wish these scientists all the best, but it will be very hard to determine whether the ROW should be worn. Of course it works, but even if we knew precisely how it works, we wouldn't necessarily know whether it would be worth wearing. The opportunity cost of wearing it (you have to give up archer/zerker/seers ring) is tough to quantify. Obviously, Jagex wants this to be a mystery. As for me, I wear it mostly out of superstition. I've had two visage drops while wearing it and none while not wearing it. I know that's not scientific (and I am interested to hear the science if someone can do it), but that's what I'm going on at the moment.
  5. That's unnecessarily inflammatory. As you've demonstrated, MyWep is wrong, but that's not the same thing as lying. He's not trying to deceive anyone.
  6. This thread started out as a legitimate dicussion, but it has deteriorated into plain whining. I imagine that one of the challenges that Jagex is facing is that the more they add to the game, the harder it gets to add more to the game. The bigger the game gets, the bigger the ripple effects from small changes. I think that it makes perfect sense to slow down the rate of new content as Runescape becomes a more mature game.
  7. Maybe you've just beaten this game and it's time to quit? You would be in an extremely small minority, but perhaps that's where you are. The game is so huge right now that, for most people, the dizzing array of things to do is almost overwhelming. It probably just does not make economic sense for Jagex to spend a lot of resources to collect five bucks per month from those very few people who have beaten the game. By your own admission, you've loved the game for a long time. It's been cheap entertainment for you. All good things must come to an end. Perhaps it's time to move on? Just a thought.
  8. Once you've done each one about 50 times, you won't have to check anymore. What slows me down is that I'm clicking with a touchpad. Click intensive activities are not good for me.
  9. I've done these puzzles so many times that I can do them in about five minutes now. I do each row one at a time and then the last two together. The key for me is getting the pieces in the right order, not in the right place. Once they are in the right order, it is easy to move them to the right place.
  10. This illustrates why 3rd age may drop relatively slowly. I also have had my eye on the mele helm, and am looking at it more seriously now. There could be a lot of pent up demand for this stuff that gets expended as the price gradually drops. This pent up demand could slow the price drop. On the other hand, if people do like I intend to do (patiently wait for the crash), then it really could take a precipitous plunge.
  11. How do you know this, and the people who used the pvp glitch, did anyone from JaGex say they being banned permanently or temporarily? It was bug abuse in a major way. I'm pretty sure they're not going to be handing out any temporary bans for this one. And I like this news about the santas being bought out by people getting banned (I have 3 right now). Hopefully they also took some mask sets with them as well (I also have 3 mask sets). FWIW, all of the minor rares are bought out. I sold most of my stuff into the rally with the expectation of a crash if, as I anticipate, the bannings do not put a significant dent into the outstanding number of rares.
  12. Nevermind, Bunny, if we don't want to try to decipher your clever messages, we can ignore them. You did nothing wrong. I thought it was a nice touch.
  13. That really does sound cool! Of course, Jagex doesn't do it that way anymore because they want to avoid creating "rares." But I was thinking . . . isn't it possible that by refusing to do holiday drops that way anymore, Jagex is simply making the existing rares all that much more rare? If they had had a similar drop every holiday since those early drops, wouldn't the "rareness" and therefore the market value of any particular drop be somewhat diminished? I think maybe the decision never to do such drops again may have been counter-productive. If they had been dropping tradeable holiday items all this time, the various items would have sorted themselves out to the various players who valued them the most. There would be a much larger overall supply of "rares," thus spreading the "demand" over more items and making competition for any particular "rare" less intense. Anyway, it does seem a shame that such a cool thing can't happen in the game anymore.
  14. Same, that event was the best one ever made. It was fun, had a great reward, and really left an impact. I wish Jagex would make more events like that. You guys are making me really sorry that I missed that one! I'd really like to see that cutscene! Wonder whether it's on Youtube? This might be a nice addition to the earlier suggestion of a quest library so that we could revisit past quests. I would like a library of old holiday events that I missed. That would be a neat addition, too.
  15. Actually, that costume does rock, especially with the optional pumpkin head.
  16. As an alternative to the already shrill whining about the new holiday event, why don't we reflect on what we've liked about holiday events. (By the way, I'm not disagreeing that this one is a bit lame. It seems clear to me Jagex has decided to spend less on development, which is fine with me. I thought the incessant stream of new content was rather like trying to drink from a fire hose.) I've played for less than three years, so I've seen only nine holiday events. To my mind, it will be hard to top Halloween 2008: 1. It looked AWESOME. I felt like I was really trick or treating in some creepy medieval village. 2. The puzzles were fun. 3. The quest was a stroke of genius. 4. The emote was the best holiday emote to date. 5. The broom was the most useful holiday item to date. (I use it every time I go into the desert.) 6. The purple cat was a very nice added bonus. 7. That's not even mentioning the lame outfit. (Although I think the female cape was quite nice.)
  17. When it comes to the history of religion, Magzar has no idea what he's talking about (as has frequently been the case on other topics as well). But I humbly suggest that instead of allowing his ignorance to ignite a flame war, why don't we all drop this topic. It has nothing to do with Runescape. The internet is full of bulletin boards where the ignorant debate religion. I hope we can keep this one free of that.
  18. Halloween masks pretty hard to get right now. Forget about buying below medium. If you leave offer in for max, you get reasonably soon. But they're dirt cheap right now, so they have some room to move up.
  19. Very nice idea! At the very least, they could have a summary of what happened in the quest with the ability to replay the cutscenes -- would really contribute to the lore of Runescape, which they've been trying to do. I think this would do more than anything to improve Runescape lore. Of course, it's possible to do the same thing right now by going to Youtube, but it would be better if it could be done in game. That would then provide an incentive to embed more hints, etc. in the cutscenes and dialogue so that the true historians of Runescape could pour over them trying to puzzle things out.
  20. its pretty much almost a clear hint to either cold war, or something with underwater mogres. Red Raktuber is probably a reference to the Red October which was a russian submarine used in THE COLD WAR. and the fact that it states "flies at midnight. (Well, maybe not 'flies')" is almost a clear reference to penguins. the hats might refer to the underwater mogres u meet in rfd pirate pete part. Cold War *90% confirmed FWIW, I was working a clue yesterday. Many of you probably have seen the emote clue that asks you to Panic in the "heart" of the haunted woods. (The ventricle of darkness?) Anyway, while on my way there yesterday, very near the "heart," I saw a penguin spy. I don't usually do penguins, so I don't know whether that's a normal spot, but I've done that clue many, many times and never seen a penguin before. Also, "sleeps with the fishies" seems straightforward to me. This is one of the most famous lines from the classic American movie, "The Godfather." So isn't this just another reference to the fairy quest line, where the godfather is a major character?
  21. Good idea -- like a cape or something! Oh, wait, never mind.
  22. This high level whining is fairly common and understandable. After all, all of the many aspects of Runescape that are challenging to most of us would not be a challenge for a high level player. That really is inevitable, though. Most players are not high level; therefore, most of the content must be pitched lower. Also, I think that much of the whining is not justified. It seems to me that there still should be plenty to entertain. First, and foremost, my plan is that if I ever max my combat stats, it will be time to get much more involved in pvp. Runescape provides a wide (and growing) variety of pvp situations. The high level player who complains that nothing challenges him is either willfully ignorant, lying, bragging, or some combination of those. For any high levels out there who say that nothing challenges you in Runescape, feel free to contact me and I'll try to put you in touch with some people on my friend list who will be more than happy to kick your butt and take your stuff. That ought to breath new life into your game experience.
  23. Thanks for making this list -- it will come in very handy when I'm looking for something to do. I think that you ought to add bones to peaches to your list. It's not easy to get, and it's nice to have. I also think the list ought to include key drops. For example, how can one ever have "completed" Runescape without a visage drop? Drops with which I am familiar that I would include are d chain, dfh, d2h, visage, dwc, and I am positive that there are others. I also agree with killing bosses as a requirement -- maybe not necessarily soloing, but if you've never obtained a drop from the chaos elemental, then I don't think you've completed runescape. Same goes for kq and kbd.
  24. I wouldn't mind holiday events for other religions, but I can see why it isn't done. First, I doubt many Muslims play Runescape. Second, I imagine the Christian/Jew ratio of Runescape players is something like 10/1 or maybe even 100/1.
  25. Ok, now I wanna get one of those d chains for my wife! (I don't think she needs the dagger though.)
