There always will be ups and downs, but they're not crazy high right now. They crashed really hard around the release of free trade, and much of this is recovering from that. Plus, partyhats are through the roof, so that places some upward pressure on the lower wearables as well.

Interesting idea, but it's not entirely clear what triggers the chance of the nymph. My guess would be that it's tied to successfully mining, not merely putting time in. That would make it important to mine well. And if you're going to do that, I'm not sure why you wouldn't just take the maximum xp. Fwiw, I've spent about 6 hours and got the legs so far.

why would that be? Maybe this is due to the fact that Jagex kicks everyone off and it takes a while for them to get back on?

Full Completionist Cape Requirement List (Including Trim. Reqs)
Punitive_D replied to Screamra's topic in General Discussion
The name is perfect because only bots and those with OCD will ever get this cape. Those people have come to be known as "completionists." The name fits. -
My view is that the grindy nature of runescape allows bots to compete. There are no pking bots because bots can't do that. Over time, I would like Jagex to make runescape less botable. I'm not talking about annoying randoms, etc. I mean that the game should be more interactive and less "click and wait." I know that bots can do a lot, but I'm also sure that Jagex could adjust the game so that human players have an advantage. Right now, because bots can play 24/7, they have the advantage. I'd like to see the game eventually developed so that the live human has the advantage. In the end, the game always will be about competition, and nobody wants to compete with a bot. Even randoms wouldn't be so bad if they were part of game play. How about this for a random? If one player suspects another of being a bot, he can "tag" the suspected player. The "tagged" player essentially gets a screaming notification and must do some non-botable random-event-like task within a reasonable amount of time. If he doesn't, he becomes attackable by the player who tagged him. If he succeeds, he gets a little reward and is immune from tagging for a couple hours.

03-May-2011 Capes of Distinction
Punitive_D replied to Saradomin_Mage's topic in General Discussion
I have played this game for over 6 years. Most of those years, I was a member, sometimes in more than one account. Now, I am not a member, due to real life circumstances that prevent me from playing. Because I don't pay now, I don't deserve the capes? I have to echo this sentiment. My membership merely lapsed in late March. I don't have the time or money to pay for it now, yet I was a paying member since 2004. Not just that, but it really isn't about F2P or P2P entitlement. It's about what Jagex stated twice, and what they did. They said one thing and did another. If you're not playing, you don't need the cape. When you start playing again, you can get it. What's the problem? A matter of wording and promises - I was led to believe I didn't need to be active at this time to receive the cape. Although it seems that the entitlement bias is still strong. When I start playing, I fully expect to be able to get the cape on my main account and pure (who has been around almost as long as my main). it's not a matter of paying status, it's a matter of time and a matter of what Jagex was perceived to deliver. That and that alone is my argument. Stick to it if you want to debate it any further. Well you didn't lose anything due to Jagex's alleged "promise" since you did not rely on the promise to your detriment. No harm, no foul. You'll get the cape when you become a paying customer. Now if you pay in order to get the cape and don't receive it, THEN you'll have something to cry about. -

@Log: It depends on the relative value of the hats at the time. My personal opinion is that this is the time to get a blue -- it's been a long time since blue's value was this low relative to the lower hats. You can then use your "change" to merch your way to the rest of the set.

The lower wearable rares went up first with the phats following. This has been said over and over, and it will always continue to be true -- the market price on these items will fluctuate up and down, with a general upward drift. Partyhats dipped a bit (inducing me to buy a white), and now they're back on their general upward trend. They'll dip again at some point in the future, but the dips always will be temporary.

15-Apr-2011 - Guaranteed Content Poll: Boss Rematch?
Punitive_D replied to BloodAngel's topic in General Discussion
Think I'll just wait until poll is almost done and then vote for whatever has a chance to beat "none." -
This makes it sound like the general deflationary trend might be continuing. While that might sound like a bad thing, it isn't really. Sure, your stuff might be worth fewer gp, but the stuff you want to buy also will be cheaper.
-
Anything going on with phat market? I just took at look at forums. I ignore prices there since half of them are manipulators, but I did notice that it's almost all sellers atm.

Unless they are dropped at a lower rate than the demand is going up, of course... ;) Right, but that's exceedingly hard to imagine. The demand for these items right now practically 100%. Everyone wants one. So I don't see that drastically increasing unless the number of players of the game drastically increases. Of course, if that happens, supply also will drastically increase. I suppose that the intensity of demand could increase, but not unless Jagex changes the stats, which they won't. To the contrary, as higher level gear is introduced, intensity of demand will decrease. Your idea is a theoretical possibility, but practically is not going to happen. Also, please note that I was talking about real price, not nominal price. The nominal price might increase over time if some money source like the 26k trick is reintroduced, but that also seems unlikely at this point. Fury's. They've been the best ammy in game for years. YEARS. And they have gone up in price because of Jagex. Yes, it will always be possible for Jagex to step in to prop up the real price of a flagging item. Still, I doubt whether the price of the fury today is the equal of the price, say, four years ago. (Again, remember that I'm talking about real prices, not nominal prices.) There is so much more money in the game today that there has been a general inflation in the cost of items. While the days of runaway inflation appear to be over (for now, anyway), your fundamental point that Jagex can step in at any moment and change the entire economy is correct.

That seems like a pretty reasonable assumption. But I don't think they would crash that much that quickly. On other terms, does anyone happen to have a Price-Range on the Torva Parts? They were already falling after the initial free trade to just over 1b and fell another 50m with the corp glitch. My guess is that a combination of this fall along with swapping divines for ely + pernix as mentioned above was enough to start panic selling. They'll stabilize and trend back up before long, though I doubt they'll be above 1b permanently. Dropped items, no matter how rare, will always drop in price in the long term.

This Rune Wiki Page should have what you want, and since it's just numbers the wiki should be pretty accurate. Thanks, m8.

I hate to bump this old thread, but a long time ago someone had a thread that tracked the most common 99s in the game, but I can't find it. Does anyone still track that?

Dang it -- I hate it when someone else is the bigger person, and I doubly hate it when the bigger person refuses to give me the attention that I crave!

 Anyway, quest requirements aren't too steep but ok, drop is uncommon I would say. Bit more common than say whip. Also helps to fight the crabs with the 'dragon rapier', as it seems to hit them much better than whip. It's never taken me six hours to get a whip. I think I get a whip every couple hours or so. (Of course, abbys are easy to slaughter, and I've not tried these crabs yet.)

This is not bringing in GP into the game though... This is only bringing in more ITEMS... I dont necessarily disagree with you on the fact that party hats will continute to rise (because people will continue to want them... there will be fewer every month due to quitters/random hacks/ and watnot) However, they will soon rise at a slower rate due to the fact that GP is not entering the game at the same rate as it was. Money coming into game would be from high/low alchs/... selling to General Store, Monster Drops, and the statues which are being dropped at a much lower rate (i could be off).. (there may be other ways.. i was just giving examples) I agree -- decreased money supply is the only explanation that I can see for the general depression of prices that is going on right now. It's funny how money was literally junk (because it's value was crashing so fast) during the heyday of the 26k trick when cash was gushing into the game. You couldn't offer someone enough cash for a partyhat then -- you had to buy edibles and trade those for the hat. Now the value of gp is coming back, and people are falling over themselves to sell hats for gp. I think that the new armours also are contributing to this. It really is better show off gear than a partyhat right now, PLUS it has kick butt stats. Eventually, everything will reach a new equilibrium (until Jagex does something else to change the whole economic landscape).

How dare you acknowledge that Star Fox's partyhat is losing street? Please stop manipulating! On a serious note, all phats continue to drop. I've been testing the waters for a white -- street appears to be a little above 1.6b. I've heard it insta buys in ge at 1.66.

Thieving was used in the Quest aswell... sure it was, you were "captured". However that really, really is a thin line to incorporate a skill into a quest. - The quest is mainly about the creation of barrelchest armours - and hence the focus should be about smithing, crafting etc. I don't think it would make much sense if you could escape from imprisonment in a locked room with no knowledge of how to pick a lock. Admittedly, that must have been a pretty tough lock if it was level 74, but the point still stands. It's not a particularly hard skill to train anyway. I've always thought that Quests were the best part of the game. It's a pity that I've done them all. MOAR QUESTS PL0X We should be allowed to repeat quests.

I think you really did well there -- reds seem to be going well under 1.3, so unless yellows have really crashed, this was nice for you. I'm not trying to sound like I'm stalking you but like almost every of your post in this thread is bashing red partyhats as if you have a grudge against them. I went into Epic Rares cc and saw that someone DGed his red for yellow + 285m + full dharoks and bgs. Thats ~301m. So considering 260m is what you think a "well decision", you should honestly stop trying to manipulate prices. :-w I don't usually respond to pc products, but I'll make an exception for you. I've got nothing against red. All phats are going down, and red has gone down the most (on a percentage basis). I didn't know that you owned a red and wouldn't care anyway. When items are crashing like phats have been, prices will be all over the place. If the trade you referenced actually happened, which I doubt, then that just means someone got robbed, cause I could have bought reds all day for 1.25. If anyone's manipulating here, it's you. I'm not even in the partyhat market atm.
