I got to 42 summoning on purely gold charms, which took me around 800 i think. Can't remember though. From there, I used crimsons on turnips/pyrefiends/bloated leeches till 52. Then I made another several hundred t-birds, and finally, I made some ibis pouches for 57. That was definately not the cheapest way, because greens (ibis) are not worth it for training, but o well.

Also, dont use the SC axes, they aren't worth it. Hammers and needles are the only two you should use from SC.

Talking about pokemon tiers in competitive battle.... Actually I don't know much about it. All I know is there are several tiers, UBER, OU, UU, NU and Limbo. My favourite tier is the UU tier. Anyone wanna add something?

My full melee set took about 9 hours with Vet boat w144 + some 110+ worlds mixed together.

Buy up your summoning and construction. Fury/dragon chain/ss are all luxury items, many others function perfectly without them.

Just because PKing is at 4%, it doesn't mean only 4% PK. A lot of people still PK, but they simply do more skilling than PKing. If you removed PKing because "it isn't a large part of RuneScape", where would you sell all those fish? Where would the market for Godswords/ claws be? Potions? Sure, PvM uses Godswords and food and potions too, but that will be repetitive really soon. The thing about PKing is that it isn't a grind like the rest of Runescape. So thats what makes it special and important. Everything else in RS is a grind, except maybe a few minigames, but even those could become a grind if you play it for a goal (say you play SC for 99 smith/cons). Anyways, if I were to vote, I'd vote for skilling. But pre-2007, I would definately vote PKing as that was my playing style.

If your referring ot as in off-topic, I must disagree. The offtopic forum is one of best forums in here. Anyways, from my little knowledge of firemaking, put all the logs in the beacon, then light them afterwards. Use a tbird, or other run boosting items.
