  1. You didn't seem to understand the nature of science, so I corrected you. You're right that it's my opinion that science is the most accountable, malleable system of understanding we have (perhaps I should have added the word "objective" in there), but to say that it's a rock that can't be changed is simply wrong. Would you not find someone ignorant or stupid, if even for a moment, if they claimed that atoms were not made up or protons or neutrons? Even if it turned out they had irrefutable proof? Or say the same with gravity. At first, you'll be in extreme disbelief. You seem to have an open mind, so you'd accept it easily, but there are people that would still call this person stupid or ignorant, or argue with him. But you also seem to believe faith has to be blind and can only, well, blind people. That is just as wrong, in my eyes.
  2. You see science as that. I only see sentience as "the most accountable, malleable system of understanding we have." That and the only one, really ...
  3. How, though? For half this nation's life we've been isolationist - quite often sounds like a majority to me, you know. Until we finally gave in to help with World War I we stuck to ourselves, although you could say that the Spanish-American War began America's rise as being more involved. I think this whole debate is stupid, though. It's all "your country is stupid" versus "I think yours is". And from what I've seen, the population of Americans on this board is generally young, while Europeans are generally older. You can't really expect a good "debate" from that, eh? How? The President doesn't approve every part of all military operations. He doesn't aim bombs that miss, or gather intelligence that's incorrect. How was he a terrorist? I agree it could have been handled better, but our invasion ended a genocide. I can't see why Iraqis would prefer a dictatorship to a democracy, but I suppose it had been forced on them. Whatever. I hold up my second paragraph.
  4. Yeah, I really care little even about America's problems. I do care about us more than just the entire world.
  5. Steve Miller Band. I think it's kinda like a Dave Matthews Band gateway, for people who aren't potheads. When you've listened to them a little while, Dave Matthews Band. :P
  6. I find it the same way when teachers tell me there's only one way to solve a math problem, or describe something scientifically. It's ridiculous. I find many of my school's scientific textbooks worthless because of this reason (well, that and the fact that they're from 2002 and apparently that's already totally out of date). I find trying to establish your own Rock of science that cannot be wrong just as bad as putting up a Rock that nothing about your religion can be wrong.
  7. Seriously. Maybe we should bring up the World War I card. Or World War II. I dunno. I also wish I could find a tiny list of the vetoes that puts one country in a bad light. You contradicted yourself. American foreign policy changes ever 8 years, maximum, and you say you've been looking at it for under 6 years, but later in your post bring up situations that have happened decades ago. That's a good thing and a bad thing about our government - it never stays exactly the same. I guess you could argue its similar, but the similarity argument is ridiculous in general. You aren't even understanding these so-called "anti-American" feelings in the Middle East. Kuwait loves us. Middle Eastern? Yes. Israel? Yes. Saudi Arabia? Yes. Iraq? Yes. Speaking general populations and political "love", by the way. No way in hell does anybody know the personal thoughts of people. I, for one, don't even care about any other nation, at least not particularly. This is the one I live in, this is the one that matters to me. I got more important stuff to do than blame Britain for the world's problems. Maybe I'll just build as arrogant an argument as I can later. That's the only one that recieves credit in these "debates".
  8. We have one teacher that's really young, and good looking. She's only 21 or 22, I think. I thought she was 15, she's little. I was talking to her and was intending to ask her out, until I was told she was a teacher. I thought it was funny when my friends told me.
  9. I'm not one to challenge an epiphany. Buuuut, I just imagine atoms don't exist for a short time if I ever feel too mind-blown that everything is made up of something else and that on a molecular level HOLY [bleep] BIG. Yeah.
  10. That's how me and my friend lost two idiots. We thought they were right behind us, and we dropped down, but one ran back behind us because he thought he said there would be a tank downstairs (there wasn't, he got huntered), and the other guy wasn't sure, so he waited, and we told him to save the guy or jump, and he got hit by a hunter missing, started to fall in the manhole, but got miracle-caught by a smoker. It was cool looking to see their silhouettes.
  11. Jet Airliner - Steve Miller Band. I'm in a real SMB mood.
  12. Aye. In fact, it puts me off of bands when they try to put some message into their lyrics - namely because it often changes the music for the worse, but whatever ...

I'm guessing you live around Washington, then? Cool. I feel like craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap. I'm tired and my contacts are wierd and I can't see out of them. Aaaaaugh this has been a bad week. I'm gonna go to school and whine at everyone now.
  14. Faith and curiosity are somewhat of a curiosity themselves. I see them as being bound to one another, yet quite the opposite.
  15. I believe it. We had a sub that had to be nearly 7 feet tall and at least 450 pounds of fat. Felt bad for the guy.
  16. San Antonio is pretty hot. I guess that's really all I had to say. My bad. ...So, everybody. How're the kids? They enjoying their new three-day weekends?
  17. ...But the answer to the great question is 42. Everyone knows that. EDIT: Okay, I concede your answer to your own question is acceptable.
  18. We had a pothead sub, once. Guess who was wearing their Jimi Hendrix shirt and was really tired that day? >_< I need a haircut soon, too. It doesn't help keep people from thinking I'm a pothead. You Tip.Iters may notice I bring it up often. It is because I HATE IT. Although it is funny.
  19. I hate it because it's pointless and ridiculous right now. Whatever. I'll stick through four years of nothing so I get a piece of paper and a square hat. Whoopee. Laura, how could you. A Texas summer is not something to be wasted. (Where did you live here, anyways? We're kinda a big state.) Hey, good deal for me. The end of my weekend is usually devoted to said fun times. The first part is hanging out with friends.
  20. The prime of the two Buddhist schools of thought isn't quite that, I'm afraid. Ma[racist term]a is a lot more like a religion. Siddhartha didn't want to be a God, I believe. That's why I think many of the ideas of Theravada Buddhism to be more beneficial. It's more of a school of thought than a religion, and they treat the Buddha with courteous detached respect - I believe that if there was a classification of this that believed the same of Christ and followed more Christian traditions, that'd likely be how I classify my religion. Now it's just Christianity. Yeah, I really like Buddhism and Zen thought. I want to learn how to form my own Zen koans, but it's a very difficult, thought-provoking process. This is probably my favorite: The caterpillar said, "One side will make you grow bigger and the other side will make you grow smaller" "One side of what? The other side of what?" thought Alice to herself. "Of the mushroom," said the caterpillar. Alice looked at the mushroom, trying to make out which were the two sides of it, as it was perfectly round. Although if we bring up Ma[racist term]a Buddism, which believes Siddhartha Gautama as their God, I guess this discussions could technically be over, as he did exist.
  21. My English teacher is funny. We're a bad influence on her. She's started cussing constantly on accident. It's funny. A lot of my teachers also think I smoke dope, and treat me as such. Especially the ones who actually know I don't ... Inside joke, I guess.
  22. I like Dratini and Dragonair. And Lapris. And Rapidash. :3
  23. What hell. Your school sounds awesome. We have ten periods, five a day. From 8:30 to 4:00. Most people stay later for extracurricular activities or sports. >:l
  24. Doesn't sound like it should even be related to autism, but I don't know much about that whole area period. I do some of those things, though I'm really just an eccentric. I have a little bit of OCD, maybe some anxiety at times. Not too bad nowadays, though I get panic attacks if I'm sick and home alone. I don't know why.

Good for you, Goddess. Bad mood today. Don't know why. Has been a fine day. Just pissed off right now. Guess it's since I'm probably gonna quit track soon. Most of my friends quit, and I'm looking for a job right now. Plus, I'm always so tired. I doubt track is particularly hurting, or that working will help, but... I'll need to make sure I stay fit, though.
