Mercenaries 2: World in Flames.
[hide=TRAILER] [/hide] Looks great, love the slightly-stylized graphics. Explosions. BOOM. Guns. BOOM. Lots and lots of BOOM. Plus, a grappling hook for helicopters. Should be nice to be in Venezuela, too. Party with ol' Chavez and junk. So, anyone buying this game and planning on doing any co-op? I just preordered it. Labor Day holiday = MERCENARIES :o

Flag Burning.
Seeing nothing wrong with flag burning doesn't equal making a stand for it. Apathy =/= support He didn't say "If you're apathetic to flag burning, do it in the Chinese capital."

Is my IQ of 145 any good?
I had like 119 a few years back (fourth grade, I think), and knew it was [cabbage]. Silly e-IQs. I might hover around 120 at this time, but no way back then.

Do You Support Stem Cell Research?
Yeah, I doubt Church and State will ever be as separate as they were in, say, the Roman days (which could be implemented so nicely these days, urban Roman cities were quite the utopia). However, we don't have a theocracy, which would never work these days. Period.

Is God real post your thoughts!
It's an interesting subject. Certainly there's certain pieces of devotional painting, music and poetry that never would have existed if the artists hadn't had the love for God that they did. However I don't know how much claim religion has over many of the commissioned pieces - Often the only work artists could get was through the church because it was the only institution that had enough money for that kind of frivolity. I don't doubt how much art religion has allowed to exist and inspired, but do you think the roof of the Sistine Chapel would have been any less beautiful if it was a painting of the milky way or any other non-religious subject? Of course it wouldn't have been worse, but there's no denying that the most popular six religions on the world have inspired some of the greatest pieces of art architecture, and literature on the planet. Not to mention Michelangelo was also a relatively devout Catholic when he painted the Sistine Chapel, so of course his paintings were more inspired than an atheist artist's would have been at the time. You're right that that was the only work for master artists, though. However, a good number ended up quite faithful Christians, if not Catholics, but that still doesn't prove the point that some of the greatest pieces of work were commissioned, and thus less inspired. I really was just curious what an atheist wedding ceremony is like, though. And Buddhist. And Taoist. Never seen or learnt anything over either. Also, I apologize for screwing up your quote earlier, Robert.

Defining religion like that makes it impossible to discuss and overall does no harm since it has no ancient holy book condoning misdeeds. That doesn't make organized religion bad. It's one of the most powerful forces on the planet. Why is that relevant? Marraige, Art, Music, and all the other thing Christians claim for themselves work fine without religion involved. I ask a question, and you have to act like an [wagon] about it? Do you know the contributions to art and music that religion have created over the years? EDIT: Fixed quote.

"Time Travel"
First off: OMFG I HATE PHYSICS AND SPACE CRAP. We have to explain all of space with our Terran physics and science, which just isn't enough at this point. Augh, I wish I could look into the future a thousand years and see what the hell they're up to. >_<

Do You Support Stem Cell Research?
Yeah, they use pretty much anything that's like a fetus, but won't be able to grow into a baby, I think. Not totally sure, though. But people will have abortions, and there will be miscarriages, and there will be failed births, so why not put them to work saving others? I don't understand how you can be against stem cell research, really. You could only really be against abortion. And, I'm a bit against abortion, at least after the third trimester, but it's still the woman's choice.

Categories in something as complex as religion are stupid. I hate organized religion. I prefer personal faith. (Thus, it depends on the person) 'Course, Baptist Revivals are awesome! : You've mentioned a generalized and mostly incorrect view of one of the largest and most-wrongly-referred to groups in Christianity - and all of theism. Have you ever practiced Roman Catholicism (most widespread)? Southern Catholicism? Lutheran (which has quite a few shared traits with its parent sect)? Quite. On another note, what's an atheist wedding ceremony like?

Michael Jackson Turns 50! Favorite song?
Hate his latest music. Still the best dancer in the world, though. Probably Billie Jean, or Beat It.

The Offical TIF American Elections thread
Wow, that's a fantastic choice. Plus she's a, you know, she, so that will probably score McCain major points. Judging from that, I would probably vote for McCain. I wouldn't be surprised if Obama ran - and won - either A) A catastrophe and McCain is thrown from office/doesn't have a chance to be reelected, or B) after McCain and Palin did a good job for two terms, but Obama had more years under his belt and more perfected policies. Still dunno who'll win, though. It'll be close.

Do You Support Stem Cell Research?
I'd like to think magekillr for this term. You just haymanned. A lot. I responded to a terribly grossly overstated "point". He compared a future human life to what may be on your plate for dinner. I don't care if you say it isn't alive yet. It will be. And it will be human. But that still wasn't the point of my post, or any of my posts on this thread.I don't understand not supporting it. They aren't beating pregnant women into giving their fetus' stem cells or anything, they use aborted babies, miscarriages and the like (when possible for those other ways). The child isn't going to grow up in the first place. The only time they can use the stem cells is before the third trimester, I believe.

Flag Burning.
You blew way past my point. You certainly can burn something with hostile intent. Give me enough time, and I can probably figure out a way to breathe with hostile intent. But the act of burning something does not inherently suggest hostility. Cremation, a religious tenant for billions of hindus and buddhists, is not a sign of disrespect nor hostility. Burning a used flag, is not a sign of hostility. Intent/context matters, and attempting to argue that fire is always a form of desecreation is just plain silly, which is both what Zierro and you did. If DaN said he didn't do it for hostility, then whether you consider his stated reason valid or not, going on and on about how burning a flag clearly is an extreme form of desecreation makes no sense. While I apologize, since I did blow past your point, but all I'm saying is that burning anything will typically be for a hostile reason, particularly a flag. If his video didn't follow other retirement guidelines, and when he's stated he merely burnt a flag out of curiosity, why even bring the idea of respectful cremation into it? DaN has stated a number of times in the past that he doesn't like much that that flag stands for, so why would this burning be anything but hostile, with maybe slight neutrality? Burning an object like a flag is nearly always quite a hostile thing to do. It's similar, though not the same, to burning any sort of religious book (since you don't cremate any of those). Burn trash? Nobody will think it's threatening. Burn a flag (NOT CREMATION)? People will. It's also similar to the difference between using a cutting knife during dinner and walking at a person with a knife in your hand. You may not mean anything harmful, but the other person will certainly construe it as such. Using the reasoning that he cremated and retired the flag respectfully is no reason at all. He has no reason, other than being able to and curious about what would happen. While I don't agree with that at all, it is probably in his Australian rights to do so. And if I was Australian, I'd defend his rights to the death.

Cultrally diverse
Yeah, that's why it's more fun to be in a mixing pot. Of course, so many white people are jumpy around black people here in the States, I don't know why. I don't speak with many black kids at my school, but the few that do are the same as me. Only I'm a grape, they're a raisin. As for shoes, I always take mine off, but just because I don't like wearing shoes when I don't have to. >_>

That kid that went to your school.
Hahaha, people can discriminate against almost-southerners. By the way, when Tennessee put in their application to be in the South, we denied it.

Do You Support Stem Cell Research?
I think that should be looked into equally. If that could be perfected, stem cells would be far easier to get, considering it'd be a bit like a transplant.

Do You Support Stem Cell Research?
In three years, the cow won't call you "daddy". Just so people don't flame me, remember I support it, considering they'd only use aborted babies anyways.

Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and UT of Dallas or UT of Austin are all great schools, with fantastic scholarship programs. Hot Southern girls. Amazing Texasness. Just damn great. And about Texas Tech. Don't come here. School's great, town sucks.

A brief question about WW2
Pearl Harbor was a clerical error that could have been stopped due to brass that refused to believe they weren't simply planes of our own origin, and it could have been stopped by the sheer power. It was quite the below-the-belt punch, there, as an ambassador was on the way - very much to the Japanese emperor's knowledge. I don't know if the people who made those errors were dishonorably discharged or what, but it wouldn't surprise me. Although I do believe you're right, people knew Jews were being sent to camps, but like most of the world, people thought they were work camps. Bad, but not something to fight quite the powerful nation over.

Flag Burning.
DaN's already said he did it for "curiosity", and has defended that by saying he simply has the right to do it. I seriously doubt he knows a single other act to be done when retiring a flag. That "point" (I suppose?) is useless. Burning something is in fact one of the most extreme forms of desecration; burning someone's home is extreme intimidation; burning a person is more than murder (well, usually it is), fire is used as a message. You're starting to understand the point. People have given their lives to have the freedom you have to burn a flag of a country you don't even live in! I personally would die for people to have that right, but I find it idiotic and hypocritical to use the ability to do something as a reason.

Christians: Why do you go to mass?
I'm not trying to put you down personally, but it's because you think they are. If you're at church, they aren't going to be lethargic about their faith. And if you believe near anybody who says they believe in God is some sort of religious nutjob (not pointing at you, obviously, just a number of atheists on this board), then you're not going to change your views.
