The photos are all promising, but they all look very "auto" (using the cameras default settings); I can see overexposure in the sky, and slightly overcooked colours, even on the fire hydrant one, which is indeed the best of them all, even if it does need a little work.

Fairly accurate synopsis, I'd say. The left side does look slightly weird though, the grey bit just to the right of the sprite is distracting too.
  3. Right. You're in Photoshop yes? When you've done your avatar/sig (avatar in this case), click on "File", and look for an option that says "Save for Web & Devices" - it should come up with options on the right of this new window that should open in ImageReady, or Photoshop itself if you are on CS3/CS4 - it should look like this: I would choose JPEG, if your avatar canvas has been completely filled with something (a whole image, crop of a signature). Only choose PNG 8/24 if you want a transparent background to your signature, which is indicated with grey and white checkers. Choose GIF if you have an animated image (make sure it's under 20kb though). Anyway... you've chosen JPEG; at the bottom left of this new window that opens up, you'll see something like this: As you can see, it's under 20kb. Then save it to your pictures folder. Then, upload your signature to an imagehost *, and then copy the hotlink into the allocated field to paste it in, when you are changing your avatar. *don't add anything onto your avatar, like crappy animations or rubbish online editing tools that some sites will offer. Hopefully your avatar problem will be gone now, if I've explained it well enough Might aswell add this:

Whats wrong with them? Lots. They just don't add to the aesthetics of the piece. There's nothing wrong with applying borders to a piece - try doing a piece without borders, and if you really feel that it needs them, use them. Though, just look at the design world today - how much of design actually uses borders? Borders seem to "restrict" the flow of the piece - leaving borders out of your work will unleash the flow, and make your pieces look more natural ;)
  5. This thread may be better suited in the gallery. I would definitely recommend joining http://planetrenders.net and it's forums. also, some tutorial sites http://www.deviantart.com/#order=9&q=signature+tutorial http://psd.tutsplus.com/ http://www.tutorial9.net/ http://www.good-tutorials.com/
  6. What sort of things does your friend plan to use the computer for? 3D Rendering? Gaming?

This is fantastic. Very good use of effects - I'm experienced in photoshop, but how did you make the effect curl like it did? Other two look good, the last one made me laugh :P
  8. Indeed you should  Also; 1. 90/85/90 seems best to me, you'll be able to attack faster and hit harder. (Assuiming you are talking about attack and strength; don't know what the last skill is  ) 2. I would go for 94, though you should stay at 82 if you don't have the sufficient funds to train up. 3. Can't really answer this question D: 4. I answered this in the first part of my post, just click on the link in Killerwatt's signature : Also next time, I would use the Graveyard Help & Advice forum.
  9. Sorry I haven't done these requests, I've been so busy lately - I know I keep saying this, but I've started studying for exams, and these will start take over my priorities. @Peterpan; I'm not going to do this request as the pose seems a bit suggestive, and that sort of thing isn't really allowed on TIF, and we'll both get into trouble for it.
  10. D: I've never heard of such a team. The name of the forum was just a spur of the moment thing :P
  11. 135 Layers, and around 3.5 hours, even though it doesn't look at all like it took that time, it did. Recently I got a tripod for my camera, so I've been doing lots of photography lately, and also trying stuff I haven't before. I've tried to only do minor post-processing to my photos. Taken at my holiday home in Devon, England. Taken at Hele Beach, Devon, England. This one was taken at Chambercombe Manor, Ilfracombe, England. Me and my friend Jac, or vodasung on deviantART as some of you may know tried an experiment, which actually went alright :P  We spent alot of time twiddling with shutter speed, this shot seemed the best of around 200 :wall: First time I've done one of these shots, had to get right down in the grass to get this shot. [hide=In My Heart Fractal][/hide] ------ Also, I'd like to take the opportunity to advertise my, and dsavi x4's new forum, High Definition. High Definition is a art forum, made by artists, for artists. We have forums for critique, help and advice, competitions, resources and a general art disussion board, along with an off topic board too! We're currently looking for people to join and increase the activity by helping to advertise too!
  12. Avatar Size Restrictions are as follows: 100x100 pixels 20kb in size
  13. Specify the dimensions of your avatar, tip.it has auto-scaled it to 100x100 - take a look at the actual dimensions, and enter them.
  14. Kinda like this: but imagine him with a :] smiley on his face, but have his mouth curved and basically doing a semi-circle. also have him slightly rotated like this one: heres some more examples: http://marc-phx.deviantart.com/art/Tard ... k-90284493 like them, but 100x100
  15. Have the latest graphics card driver? Got the latest java update? Check these first, and if you don't have them, install them :
  16. Sam replied to woopidoo2's topic in Art and Media
I'm not a fan of it :| The composition just seems bland, and the clouds just don't look right; I presume you were planning to catch a golden sunset? You didn't succeed :wall:
  17. Gah, size your photos down a little D:
  18. A big Tard emoticon 100x100 any expression, preferably from da Now a days tards are a popular form of emoticon that pop up all over the place. I felt that as tards are spreading further and further around the site, it might be nice to do a small feature on them. The original Tardmotes were created and submitted to deviantART by ~darkmoon3636 back in July 2006 as part of a Tardmote Emoticon Pack. They were designed as a set of emoticons for uncommon text created smilies such as >:3 and :0. One of the most widely known of these is :noes: which now holds 2 places on the emoticon legend. These became quite popular and ~darkmoon3636 later brought out a second pack in September of the same year. From the original Tardmotes a new style of emoticons developed now known as Tards. These emotes are most recognisable by their single pixel dot eyes and usually arent the smartest of characters. Although its a shame many have lost the purpose of the original tardmotes, some of the tard emoticons that pass through dA are rather amusing and great examples of how emoticons are a fast moving art form. I hope that's enough preferably blue and looks very stupid
  19. I'm loving the DOF on the light-mastering stuff  The black and white colour schemes gives a great contrast, GJ  More of this from you would be totally awesome
