  1. Actually my interest in that mision was solely one for self-preservation. You can talk all high and mighty about how I was involved in planning a mission that would involve killing you and Nex, but that doesn't change the fact that it was still a rescue mission to stop my own execution. And given 100k to work with, this goblin firebomber of mine could probably do damage of upwards to 300 to everyone within radius. Yes, the attack is still area of effect, and not just focused damage. So tell me where it says that: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/rules-for-monsters/creature-types#TOC-Undead
  2. The blunderbluss is the weapon she attaches her inovations to as an experimental gunsmith. And grit is really limited because the effects would be OP if not. And not all undead are imune to mind affecting effects, only braindead or brainless ones, which have it explicitly stated.
  3. No, I am factoring in the fact that advanced firearms, regardless of handedness, are as fast to reload as Light and Hand Crossbows, and are applicable for the Feat. And Archi, you forgot to factor in the fact that Lei can without penalty fire into a melee, that the Vampire as an umarmed foe is Flatfooted against my pen, that I have a whip which I can use to perform tactical combat maneuvers, that whenever I get an AoO, that turns into three of them, that Lei could at any time use a grit feature against the Vampire, that I could cast Summon Monster III to increase our numbers, that I could have cast Enthrall followed by Charm Person to keep the Vampire busy, that Lei could have used the Experimental Blunderbluss to deal twice the damage while the Vampire was at a range where that was suitable in terms of reload time and that I could use Suggestion and Dirge of Doom against the Vampire.
  4. That's why the shotgun has to be Reliable, to remove the chance of misfiring.
  5. Actually that +5 is only responsible for 30 damage. Most of the damage comes from INT bonus to fire damage. Point-Blank shot + Precise Shot = +3 Burn! Burn! Burn! = 1d4 Fire Bombardier = +INT(6 at most without boost) Dragon's Breath = 2d6 Double-barrel = Two shots at a time. Rapid Reload = Free action to reload. BAB(6) + Rapid Shot = Shoot three times. Overall that's 3*2(2d6+1d4+9) or 12d6+6d4+54 damage. I estimate it's around the maximum damage potential for a level 8 with such a limited amount of factors.
  6. At level 8 a goblin firebomber can do 102-180 of guaranteed (no attack roll) damage to everything inside a 40ft cone per turn with just a +5 Reliable Distance double-barrel shotgun using Dragon's Breath cartridges and the right feats, so I don't see how damage potential matters. Best case scenario for those within that cone is succeeding on six DC 15 Reflex rolls to take only 51-90 damage. At Fire Domain lvl 12 that's down to 31-70 damage and at lvl 20 you can negate it.
  7. The thing I'm talking about is pretty much half of what a wizard can do, but continuous.
  8. We don't need blasting, we just need killing, which she is more than proficient at. And right now I've got a way to make her more than twice as lethal and I'm working on a thing that would give us the tactical advantage of the century.
  9. Don't need the Sight until after range increment 5 though.
  10. How can I be doing it wrong when Lei is still a perfectly capable fighter in addition to being sufficiently skilled to handle pretty much any realistic situation? Just because the gunslinger is intended as a frontline fighter doesn't mean I'm doing it wrong by making her a sniper/flurry of blades. EDIT: Also it turns out I've been missing half the point of the BAB, Lei can apparently make two attacks per round, which essentially means my estimates for damage she can do has ony been half her actual potential.
  11. 1. With the Rapid Reload feat, loading a two-handed early weapon is reduced from taking a full-round action to taking a standard action, reloading a one-handed early firearm is reduced from taking a standard action to taking a move action and reloading an advanced firearm is reduced to taking a move action to taking a free action. 2. Not neccessary here. 3. It is still a feat for a single person to kill before it even has a chance to attack. 4. Any character can use a gun, or even the grit feature with the right feat, the gunslinger just have the advantage of getting that for free as well as a few other nifty moves. 5. Using a scope, you can see several times as far as you can with your bare eyes. And I'm not puppeting or powergaming. This is stuff I've discussed with Lei beforehand, and even though the character is suited for combat, that's not the only thing it's made for. Every aspect of the character has been taken into consideration in its creation, the combat proficiency is simply a trait of the character as a whole, a type of character, migh I add, that is quite common in several different kinds of media-
  12. "My muscle mass is increasing" "I better stop that with some bandages" More like:"My muscles are falling apart" "I bet some bandages could prevent that" Because really, it's starting to hurt, and when flexed my left forearm has more pronounced sepparation of the muscle bundles than my right, despite my right arm being nearly twice as strong.
  13. I understand why anime characters in training wear bandages on their limbs so often now. I think the muscle bundles in my left forearm are starting to loosen from eachother just because of lubbing large quantities of soda a few times a week (grocery shopping, not manual labour). That probably is something the support of some tight bandages could prevent.
  14. Personally I prefer tactics that don't require using up the grit, since that would nullify the Deft Shootist Deed feat which allows Lei to fire and reload without provoking AoOs.
  15. The_Mather1 replied to Nexaduro's topic in Falador Tavern
I usually don't care much for post-apocalyptic, but lately I've been cooking up a lot of ideas that neccessitate magic that isn't limited to certain spells, and as I've been lacking an outlet for them, I'll be looking forward to this. Though by "magic and iron don't mix", do you mean that warriors don't like magic, metal is resistant (or volatile) against magic or that iron specifically nullifies magic? This would be useful to know since one of those ideas involves enchanting a bunch of tungsten with a cantrip spell to basically make it a part of my identity in combat.
  16. The Far-Reaching Sight lets you use a full round to make an attack that resolves against Touch at any increment. And the rifle does more damage than the Double Hackbut as a total, since not only does the Hackbut require a full round to set up, but it also requires a full round to reload each barrel, whereas thanks to the rapid reload feat, Lei's rifle reloads as a free action. So over the course of three rounds, whereas the Double Hackbut does 2d10 damage, the rifle does 3d8. And it's not like that one d8 per round is all the damage Lei can do, I've equiped her with a blade on each limb (+10 attack) and a spiked armor (+12 attack) for a total of 4d3+8+1d4 (average of 18) damage per round in a grapple, with two of her blades scoring crits at both 18 and 19 in addition to 20. Also, monsters 2-4 above our hit dice? That's CR 10-12 for me, which is stuff like dragons and elder elementals, which I dubt we're going to fight soon.
  17. I know, I'm just using it to compare the Nymph's level to ours in accordance to what would and would not be an appropriate "semi-boss". And in this case, that makes it one that would be appropriate as a fully fledged dungeon boss for a single person to face.
  18. Seeing as we're going to be aiming for bigshot employers, assassinations are the most likely jobs for us, so taking out one important target at a time will be really useful. And again, that is per round, and since she does have Far-Reaching Sight, she can see enemies that are beyond normal visual range and she does shoot for Touch AC. Anyways, assuming the enemies are at a distance of 400ft and have the slightly below brisk walking speed of 20ft/round, they'll take 20 rounds to reach us. The attacks will have bonuses of 4x+12, 4x+14, 4x+16, 4x+18 and 3x+20 before they can fight back with melee weapons. Now if the enemies have a Touch AC of 25, which is ridiculously high, statistically 1 of the 5th range attacks, 2 of the 4th range attacks, 2 of the 3rd range attacks, 3 of the 2nd range attacks and 2 of the 1st range attacks will hit. That's 10 hits, for a total of 10d8+20 damage, or 9d8+26+4x damage where x=1d10 if we luck out on the 1/4th chance that one of those ten rolls gets a crit and we succeed to check that crit. Now statistically that makes for 60 or 78 damage. I don't know how this would correspond to soldiers, but that's enough to kill a Nymph, a CR 7 opponent (that actually only has 23 Touch AC), before it gets within range if it has to swim. Now seeing as the character generator I'm using has Lei estimated at 105,000 EXP, the 3,200 EXP awarded for killing the nymph tell me that this is a moderately good feat for something that can as a statistic probability be done without losing a single HP.
  19. True, but the point isn't locating a single target as much as it is scouting a large area.
  20. Well duh, that's why it has to be effortless to use. This is the Pathfinder version of having a pair of tactical goggles that are linked to the camera of an UAV. EDIT: Oh my god, "an UAV" sounds as unnatural as "a hour".
  21. That 800ft range is assuming a natural 20 with no other modifier against an AC of 0 (or any AC actually since it's a natural 20). However at Lei's +18, meaning at that range she would still not be going at her limit. Even assuming she rolled a 10, she would still hit any target with an AC of 8 or lower, and this is without the Far Shot feat. Now the 1d8 damage isn't much, the 4d8+4 on a crit however... (Or +20 Attack Bonus, 1d10 DMG and 4d10+4 Crit under the effect of my Inspire Courage buff.) In addition she can shoot the target once per round, since reloading for her is a free action. That's right, while buffed by me, she can (with extreme improbability) hit a target that's 1,600ft away for 44 DMG per round, if she gets the Far Shot feat next time she can choose one, that makes the range 3,280ft, one kilometer, while she would hit for 48DMG (the Increase in damage and the extra 80ft is because my Inspire Courage would be +3 at that point instead of +2). Also in no case is it not vastly better for yourself to see the situation than to be told where the target is.
  22. That still doesn't fix the problem of not seeing what the scout sees.
  23. Not nearly what I am looking for. Knowing what something sees and looking through its eyes are vastly different things.
  24. Not really suitable for application in the field. I was thinking about something that requires next to no effort to use and can be used any time for any duration, but is limited to what one creature can scout for you. Something for say... if Lei took a sniper position and used them to scout an entire city using a falcon, enabling her to find a target and take it out as soon as she had a clear line of sight, no matter what their relative positions were. (Heh, that'd make a fairly epic scene for a movie or videogame.)
  25. Yeah, the item I had in mind is on the side where it's something that probably will exist some time in the future. That is to say it's an eyepiece that can be bound to a single creature to allow the wearer to look through its eyes. This is similar to what some spellcasters can do with their familiar with a 3rd/4th level spell (although they aren't bound to just sight) and druid beastmasters can do as a swift action with their companions with a trait they gain the 6th level.
