Chapter 1 - Windward
What are your thoughts on creating custom enchantments and equipment? I've got certain ideas that simply aren't possible with what Pathfinder has to offer, but still would suit the setting quite nicely.

The Back Room
The part of who it was made for is quite simple; TLA was made for the regular Nikelodeon demographic, ages 7-13, LoK was made for the same people, 7 years later.

Yeah, I noticed. The similarity is striking, but that is merely because an anime and cartoon are just the same thing made according to different standards. And since the nature of the combat and abilities in Avatar is unique to it among cartoons, it further enchances the ilusion that Avatar is an anime. However the abilities, that is to say the bending, is unique merely because there are so few cartoons that revolve around special powers, though to mention one there's American Dragon (fun fact, Jake Long (the MC of American Dragon), Zuko (from TLA) and Iroh (from LoK) have the same voice actor; Dante Basco). The combat however is unique on a level beyond that of animes, being based on real-life martial arts styles with experts being brought in to advice in the choreography of the fighting scenes.

The Back Room
It's not made in the style of anime either. It's just a more serious take on a cartoon, based on Chinese culture.

Characters that are literally supposed to be thoughtless are an exception. Not that it's usually done well (or at all) in western animation anyways. If you want a western animation that does have it, try Avatar.

The Back Room
You can detect such things because the writer chooses to convey it and the voiceactor does his or her job properly. Only shitty writers ever create main characters who don't have an underlying thought process.

Him to the only girl he declines on-screen: "I'm actually a huge otaku, and I've got this raging fetish for maids." (This for the record is an attempt to make her lose interest.) That was the other guy, the one that was introduced in the last few episodes and was always hungry. FTFY. I ceased to identify with him the moment he started speaking more than a few lines per episode, and neither of your "universal descriptors" fit me. Unlike you, and 90% of all the other people with some form of retardation that's located on the autism spectrum, I have retained the ability to see what's going on inside someone's head judging by minute traces such as irregularities in their speech pattern (I'm talking on a smaller level than just stuttering and hesitation here) and exact choice of actions. I can in fact do so to a better degree than "normal" people, though whether this is a kindness in my Asperger's, a simple natural talent or a result of my highly overactive empathy, I do not know. Now I cannot blame you for being unable to see any actual character in someone whom we get that little insight into, as this is something Asperger's Syndrome normally causes one's brain to be hardwired in a way that makes you unable to pick up on such, however I can guarantee you that he is simply stone faced, and not just a clay puppet.

So tell me, where did you get that he's coldhearted from? Or what happened to his parents? Or that he's rich? Just because he fills a few tropes doesn't mean his character is a cliché. That coldheartedness is just snark, it's evident as [bleep] that he's not actually coldhearted. The only thing we know about his parents is that he's not living with them. And the only thing we know about his finances is that he's in no way struggling. And what you call a lack of complexity is just that he never speaks his mind. To anyone who can read people, he's more complex than 3/4ths of all the MCs there are out there.

The Back Room
You don't know what two-dimensional means, do you? Two-dimensional is when what you see is what you get, when there's no underlying reasoning, thought process or hidden agenda, everything is what you would expect from the character according to what has already happened and there's no exception to his behavior, ever.

A gar is a male whom you, as a straight male, are attracted to. That guy is the closest thing for me since he's the first character to qualify as a man in my book. I wouldn't do him myself, but he's the kind of guy I'd want my daughter to date.

I do seeing as English is my second language, I can also fluently read French out loud (but not speak it without a manuscript seeing as I've given no shits about maintaining my abilities in it) and I've picked up enough Japanese to formulate very simple sentences and make exclamations. In addition with just a little help from Google Translate I can write coherent and structurally and grammatically correct sentences in Latin. Also Nex, I don't see why that statement would agitate you. I find 99.999% of males to be insufficient to be called true men, if anything that's a good thing, because holding high standards for the male gender means I'm holding high standards for myself, so I'm less likely to act like an [wagon] towards ladies.
-
The Back Room
Alright Nex, you told me to find a gar, and even though he's not exactly one, it's the closest thing you'll find for me. Usui Takumi from Kaichou wa Maid-sama, he's the first ever character (from any format) to fit my standards for what a man should do in any given situation, and hence he's the first character I'm willing to call a true man. Although he still manages to be a slight douchebag about it, the fact that the girl is an extra sadistic tsundere weighs up for it. EDIT: Ok, he even goes a bit further than that.

Chapter 1 - Windward
I didn't get myself on the island, I was brought here by a group of drows, as for Lei she washed ashore, unconscious. And if we've leveled up, I'll get to adding the stuff right away. EDIT: Ok, with Summon Monster III back on my spell list, we should be getting off the island in an instant. Assuming there's less than 3km of sea to the nearest place we can get a rest.

Chapter 1 - Windward
They would dock if there was a dock, but since there isn't, it would require the ship to either bank or use rowboats to land, something trading ships aren't made to do. And you really can't expect two girls to construct both a trading outpost and a dock on their own. If there were some elephants or humanoid monkeys like chimpanzees, orangutans or gorillas, I might be able to charm them into helping, but since the trees are those found in subtropical climates, I dubt there are any of those around

Chapter 1 - Windward
You know ships usually navigate by maps, right? They don't look for trading outposts on random islands. Though it looks like we should be able to find some nitre, since it looks like it can be extracted from most forms of... animal waste... with bat guano being the easiest source to use. And it looks like we'll only need gypsum, pyrite or some other sulfite materials to get our hands on the sulfur. If we find pyrite, which we should since it's a pretty common mineral, then we won't even need to extract the sulfur since if we can get the temperature high enough, as the iron will start combusting as well, making the mixture a thermite, with an insanely high heat output.

No, there are a few more trees than that, perhaps as many as 200 or so, haven't counted. But there's neither sulfur or nitre, so it looks like making gunpowder/rocket fuel is going to be hard.

Me and Lei will level up once we get out of our situation, right? Since doing so is a feat, after all leaving people in similar situations is notorious for being a method used by pirates to execute prisoners or those on the losing end of a mutiny.

The Back Room
It's true that I often think "I'd do me" while looking in the mirror, but I am literally incapable of discerning what is and isn't attractive when it comes to other men except from a truly objective perspective. I can think stuff like "that's an appropriate amount of muscle mass" or "that's a healthy tan", but not "he's hot". Same would go for women if not for my balls doing the judging. And keep in mind that you're talking to someone who grew up dedicating his entire life to one girl and who has a stomach and imagination that can put even /b/ to shame. There is something wrong with me. I'm not even exaggerating here, this isn't some attempt to brag about my manliness. Since to be honest, I wouldn't even give a shit if I woke up one day and found out it'd been turned into a woman, but I'd still be exclusively into women. And Nex, to give you a clue about why my anime repertoire is that long already; I just finished Ookami-san Shichinin no Nakama-tachi, even though when you suggested it, I was still working on Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu.

That's overanalyzation for you. It's way more fun to watch when I do it to people though, as you can watch them turn desperate as they're trying to deny everything.

The parody in the anime you suggested is only in the form of an excessively active narrator, that's acceptable. Also the art style is nearly identical to To Aru Majutsu no Index, and the male lead looks exactly like the MC from Bakemonogatari. EDIT: Also I new I recognized some of the voices; the narrator and the MC have the same voice actors as Kuroko and Kanzaki from To Aru Majutsu no Index respectively, and the loli has the same voice actor as one of the secondary MCs from To Aru Kagaku no Railgun, a spin-off from To Aru Majutsu no Index. EDIT2: And looking at the character list, who do I see as a voice actor? Rie Kugimiya. Seriously, that woman has her voice in EVERYTHING. Not complaining though, the four tsundere wonders; Shana (from Shakugan no Shana), Louise (from Zero no Tsukaima), Taiga (from Toradora!) and Nagi (from Hayate no Gotoku) have forever embedded a great impression of her in my head. EDIT3: I knew it, J.C. Staff, same producer as To Aru Majustu no Railgun.

The only sparkles in those animes have been as parody or surrounding girls. And in the cases where it was as parody, the anime has been entirely PG-13. EDIT: No, wait, FMA isn't PG-13, too much blood. But still no nudity there.

I can't watch TTGL, attempting to do so would only make me lose my lunch over the horrendous handling of physics in relation to the combat mechs. Also according to Urban Dictionary's definition, there's no such thing as a gar for me. I'm a 0 on the Kinsey scale, which is quite ironic seeing as I have a sort of thing for tomboys.
-
The Back Room
Never said I don't watch stuff with nudity, perhaps a quarter of the animes on that list have at least a nipple visible at some point. And that's not what I mean by grimdark. Elfen Lied is morbid, but by grimdark I mean those where the whole world has gone to shit and the MC is part of a resistance against that.
-
The Back Room
None of it is porn... no, wait, actually I think Kiss x Sis may qualify as porn even though it doesn't have even a hint of nudity... also Saikon no Qwazer may qualify due to the plot importance of fresh breastmilk... Still, none of it is Hentai, just somewhat pornographic in nature. But really, I'll watch almost anything as long as it has enough romance, anything with no plot, grimdark atmosphere or combat mechs however is a big no. And yeah, that's not a small list because I watch anime at an improbable rate. For example I watched the entirety of Elfen Lied in a single night.

It's listed with Parody as one of the genres on Anime Planet. I want to know how significant the parody is because if it is as heavy as it is in Hayate no Gotoku, it has the ability to ruin the entire series. And no anime is comparable to To Aru Majutsu no Index, it's one of a kind, however my reportoire extends far beyond that. Here's my list on Anime Planet: http://www.anime-planet.com/users/TheMather1/anime
