  1. Not just Norwegian winter, Arctic winter, as I'm actually within the Arctic circle. But yeah, that isn't the only reason I'm doing it. It's my own no-sleeve November and it's actually quite refreshing. It's also evidently quite safe, as I've been doing it for three weeks and I'm not even starting to get a cold.
  2. The term is mostly used negatively, but not always. It's slang, so there's no set of rules.
  3. Well I'll be [bleep]ed if my body doesn't loathe Sundays. *sigh* Alarm has been set half an hour before future sessions and ny subconscious has been thoroughly reprimanded for allowing me to be beyond late twice in a row. Don't worry, Earth, I may not exactly trust you, but I'm not gonna stop you from doing anything unless you are blatantly doing it with hostile intentions or you are putting the ship or its crew in danger. EDIT: I would like if people could give me an evaluation of Earth's performance this session. Alg has already given his.
  4. The bodyguard was the second robot I made, one that was to be the polar opposite of the one Earth stole, and I never bragged about it, what happened was that Dusty attacked me and the robot punched him through a wall in retaliation, something which piqued quite a curiosity among everyone present.
  5. That was the one actual risk, and Earth didn't ruin that, he tried dealing with it by transporting directly into the damaged area and subsequently asphyxiating. I was the only other person that died during the accident and the damage done to the ship was swiftly repaired using the materials gained from that asteroid. And Earth has also stolen a pet robot of mine that was made from trash, blown up my room because he didn't like the fact that I isolated it, chopped my arm off in order to get his hands on the computer I had grafted onto it and countless other such unnecessary events.
  6. Proactively work for development in technology and equipment as well as ensuring fair and equal treatment of crewmembers while defending each crewmember's personal safety and the safety of his, her or its property.
  7. It's not about selfishness, not that I am selfish at all, but rather the freedom given to the players. The number of times Earth has destroyed something of mine and/or killed me in Space because of a potential risk (note, not actual, potential, there has only once been an actual risk caused by me, and there the only casualty was him because of his own carelessness in his (unsuccessful) attempt to deal with it) or unjustified distrust can't be counted on a single hand. I meanwhile have never been directly responsible for the death of another player or the destruction of their equipment.
  8. I'd be willing to take the role of captain. I realize I'm not exactly popular when it comes to that sort of role, but no one else has voiced their willingness among those who aren't going to actively screw the ship over.
  9. I've found a way to get people to talk to me that actually works; wearing a wifebeater during November. Even the locals all wear thick winter jackets, then there comes me in something Americans consider underwear. It's a great conversation starter.
  10. It's a pejorative in the antagonizing sense, not the derogatory one.
  11. You don't, nor do you necessarily lose both your legs from stepping on a landmine. Similarly you don't have to be good at making yourself understandable to be a proficient linguist, nor do you necessarily lose aptitude in any one specific brain function just because you have a disorder for which decreased aptitude in that brain function is a symptom. Still, the likelihood is at the point where it's fair to assume, just like I think it's fair for people to expect me to have a subnormal sense of empathy, despite it actually being somewhat abnormally high.
  12. More like "You stepped on a landmine when you were a kid, I stepped on a landmine when I was a kid. I don't think I'll take advice from you on modern fashion in footwear."
  13. Not an insult, a fact. We both suffer from Asperger's syndrome, a form of social retardation, so if the case is me misunderstanding a concept related to communication, it's more likely than not that he has trouble understanding it as well. I'm not sure if this is a very poorly executed joke or evidence of a complete lack of self-awareness. And for the record, pseudo-intellectual speech means talking around the subject, resorting to using large amounts of semi-complex words rather than intelligent speech which means wording each section of one's speech concisely and using accurate words with the length being attributed to additional, if sometimes redundant, information. In other words pseudo-intelligent speech means talking like a politician or teacher.
  14. I said implies, not states. Words, despite having one meaning in the dictionary, tend to be interpreted as having another in daily speech, hence precautions such as saying a double negative rather than a single positive are necessary in order to emphasize meaning. And I'm not particularly proud of my handedness, however if it is relevant to the conversation, I will see fit to bring it up.
  15. Didn't say it had a stronger meaning, just that it sent a stronger message. Always can be anything from habitual to unchangeable, whereas never don't puts it as a static. "I always use WASD" implies that I have a preference for WASD when it's possible. "I never don't use WASD" implies that if the game has another setting, I either change it or find another game.
  16. Nevertheless = never(negative) the(binder) less(negative). Meaning despite(negative) seeming(binder) otherwise(negative). It's a synonym to still(positive).
  17. Then explain why English even has a single word that is a double negative in its own; nevertheless.
  18. "Never don't" isn't bad English when it's intended as a double negative to enforce a positive, as it is stronger than saying always.
  19. Thing is, I never don't use WASD, even when I'm not gaming, WASD are my left hand's "idle" keys, the arrow key's are only for browsing larger documents, at which point I use my right hand as the mouse is usually useless.
  20. I'm left-handed, your snide comment is invalid.
  21. You seem to be missing the fact that anything that vampire can do with its powers, I can do with my magic or performences. If it can enthrall Lei, then nothing is stopping me from doing the same thing and cast Charm Person on her to get her back on my side. Or rather since if I'm not incorrect, a vampire uses a form of hypnosis to entrhall its victims, I can simply use Countersong to prevent its words from having any effect. In fact, if timed correctly and given some freedom with the game mechanics, I could first stop the vampire's words, then take advantage of Lei's impressionable state to make Inspire Courage have several times the effect.
  22. As I said, that was only responsible for 30 of the damage. If I were to spend money on various equipment to maximize it, I could just evenly divide INT bonus among all magic item slots, as every second point of INT increases the damage by 12. And I had reason to believe your intentions were to kill me, and in any case the trigger for our plan was to be the execution of my body double (one of the plans even relying on propping the body double full of explosive runes). And the reason Lei would go into melee with the Vampire is because when attacking with all four blades and buffed by me, her damage output is 8d3+26 per turn at +12 attack rolls, or she could go into grapple for 8d3+2d4+34 damage per round.
  23. What the recent combat session showed is that even in an otherwise futile situation, three casts of Summon Monster III can turn the table. If not for the fact that Retech's character was deliberately overpowered, I would have either won or brought it down to a close finish. (For those that weren't there, this is the truth, not exaggeration, we're talking overpowered to the point where even natural twenties resulted in checks too low to pass through either AC, Will or Reflex. I was the only one to damage that monstrosity, once with fire damage when it attacked my Fire Elemental, and once with an unavoidable AoE spell that could only be cast once. The only one here to my knowledge that has a high enough attack bonus to hit it is Lei with her rifle.) As for reloading advanced firearms, if you had just read the sub-sections, you would have seen it right away: And the use of grit could have been performed the moment the vampire regained material form, with one shot to the head (which would hit, no matter what (+20 attack versus AC 17)) would confuse the Vampire, allowing Lei to tear it apart with her four blades in melee.
  24. I've got 20/20 vision, so that won't ever be a problem. Clothes however seem to disapear quite frequently, just two weeks ago I couldn't find my belt, though that was because it was behind the couch of all places.
  25. I'm starting to wonder how the [bleep] I managed to miss that after reading through it five times or so. This feels like one of those times when you're frantically searching for something, and then when you after half an hour ask someone if they've seen it, it's lying right there on the table.
