  1. There's no advantage to pushing the limit to how much you can hurt yourself, it's just something I've done, a lot. That's all. And yes, while it takes tens of thousands, millions even, of years to evolve an entirely new animal focused around one trait, it only takes a few generations for a group to split off from the main part and develop certain advantages. And you're quite pushing it with that number, because even as an ethnic Norwegian who can trace the surnames of all but one of his grandparents to places in Norway (the remaining one being a place in Finnland), there's only actually about 87,5%-93,75% Norwegian in my genes, to my knowledge, probably less (the other parts being German and Danish). Even if half your ancestors came from here, 50% is a gross overestimate.
  2. The staying warm part doesn't exactly count for me, since most of my time is spent indoors in front of a TV, computer and/or handheld console, sometimes all three at once. And sure, I've been doing something for most of my life; gymnastics at first, then a month of football, then karate, but if that was at fault, then I should have bloated up considerably these last 5 years. A) Yes, I have fangs. I have sharp, elongated canine teeth meant for gripping and tearing flesh. B) The reason you can't bite through your skin as easily as you think is because your reflexes are stopping you, they are preventing you from exerting force so as to stop you from harming yourself. I've trained myself to ignore that to my best ability, and I can definitely do damage as I can get some nice bruises from it, but even so I cannot break the skin. C) Inhospitable grounds breeds rougher physiology. If this was not true, then we would have no thick-skinned animals.
  3. Dude, I can eat over a kilo of pure meat if I get that on my platter, and last time I had pizza, I had trouble walking home because my stomach was literally so full that I could feel it pushing against my ribs. Additionally I'm a total glutton when it comes to snacks. Yet I struggled for a long time to get to a normal BMI from being underweight. I've never tried pricking my finger to draw blood though, I've tried biting to see if I could pierce the sking, but even with my fangs all I get before my reflexes force me to stop is a temporary deformity And having a history of hunter/gatherers for longer than others isn't going to help that much. My ancestry is composed of vikings followed by people who had to farm rocky soil until near the 1900's and who had hunted the local predators to extinction to protect their livestock. Just because Norway played a slight role internationally early on, don't assume the place has been hospitable
  4. Actually bone does work that way, because bone that has grown back after an injury is denser. But it seems I was halfway off when it comes to losing blood, as it only applies for men and not the way I described (it has been proven that male blood donors are 30% less likely to suffer from heart problems than non-donors). And what I'm saying is that I am above average, but I'm not any more of a mutant than the average joe.
  5. What's going on with me is a lesser mutation than that of the guy who can run near indefinitely, because all the functions are the same as they should be, I've just got a faster metabolism and stronger cells, things that are already variable from person to person to begin with. What's going on with my brain however is a bit harder to explain, but my head's already so non-standard that for all I know it could just be the combination of ways it's already [bleep]ed up in that causes an extra [bleep]up.
  6. Just because something is rare doesn't mean it's impossible for it to happen to certain people. It's just as likely for me as it is for them. And yes, over short term, that's what abuse does. However over the course of a lifetime, the body will adapt in order to negate the abuse, just like our immune system adapts to counter previously encountered diseases. When bones are damaged, the injured area grows stronger than it used to be. When muscle tissue tears, even more of it grows back as long as enough protein is avalable. When blood is lost, a mixture of live and dead cells are replaced with all live cells. And of course, let's blame the fact that I can drug myself numb or hyperalert on the placebo effect, because it's not like it would still require those hormones to be released then. No matter what change happens to the body except by external stimuli, there are hormones involved. For instance to negate pain, no matter what brings it on, the release of endorphins is neccessary. Now whether it is brought on by the pain itself, intake of medical painkillers or the belief that you are taking medical painkillers, the endorphins are still released. So tell me, what's the difference between me consciously releasing endorphins and my body releasing endorphins because I believe I am releasing endorphins?
  7. No, right now I'm trying to make you stop worrying, unless I say something along the lines of "I didn't know I had this much blood in me.", "I don't think my ribs are supposed to be pointing in that direction." or "My brain sure is squishy.", then there's nothing wrong with me that my body can't take care of on its own. No such thing as superhumans? Do you intentionally avoid reading or watching anything that has to do with unique individuals?Did you for example know that there's a guy who doesn't generate lactic acid? Or that there's a guy who can stick metal objects to himself like he's a [bleep]ing magnet? Superhumans are everywhere, we're just so used to them being obvious in fiction that we're oblivious to the real ones. Now I don't know if my insane health is due to a mutation like that, if it's something I've inherited from one or a combination of my parents or if it's a result of the heavy abuse I've put it under, but it's definitely quite a bit above the human average and it may have something to do with the fact that I can consciously control certain parts of my brain that are supposed to be running automatically.
  8. Making me chat with a shrink would only serve to make one more guy start to lose grip of his sanity. And no, seeing a doctor about anything other than a severe injury is not going to be necessary. I am built like a tank. My body repels anything that has the potential to harm it. It's even resistant to physical injury; a few days ago I attempted to make the nastiest bruise I could by slapping the same place over and over, I had to give up around time number thousand, because the only thing I got was a very minor localized swelling with a leathery texture that served as armor, which was mostly gone at the end of the day. Normal physiology may not work like that, but nothing about me gives two shits about normal. Nex, Archi's not here anymore, he's completely left TIF and he's not coming back.
  9. No, no. I'm not a doctor, I'm a tank. I don't need to find out what's wrong with me physically when I know I've got the health to give it a proper beatdown. Diseases don't harm me, I harm diseases.
  10. Which part? The concussion that happened 9 years ago or the fact that I can push myself past the limit like horses can? Sometimes when I sprint, my legs take over for my heart before I get tired, the pain is because I eventually have to stop when my arms start to asphyxiate, and I then struggle with the fact that my heart is on the verge of exploding when it suddenly has to work again when I slow down while it has yet to get down to a rate it can actually handle exerting force at. Essentially, it's just like when a horse gives its all for a long distance, then instantly dies upon reaching the destination. Except I know to slow down slowly enough so as to not kill myself by doing so. Still though, hurts like a [bleep].
  11. Never gonna see a doctor for anything unless there's a steady flow of blood, bone's visible or something's poking the wrong way. I'd be damned if I'd ever actually succumb to anything but a proper injury. If I could ride a bike right away after procuring a heavy¹ concussion in the fourth grade, it'll take at least a truck to debilitate me. ¹ I was later told I was lucky not to be suffering from cranial hemorrhaging. Going by the scale, it would be a class IIIb, as quite a crowd had time to gather before I came to. Besides, with how this has been acting, I would be bedridden by now if it was gonna kill me; it's been going on all day and it started with my heart and lungs, the only two parts of my body that can be called weak. (Note: I lack stamina (easily countered by sheer willpower followed by immense pain at the end of the session), I'm not suffering from some chronic disease... at least to my knowledge.)
  12. I feel like I'm turning into metal, starting from my chest (and internal organs) and spreading out. Everything is distractingly uncomfortable and my breath tastes of cupronickel. On a very much related note, my left arm, which is the only extremity the sensation has spread to as of yet, no longer feels any pain when I punch stuff.
  13. Still is easier to use a forum due to functions such as quoting, so you know what message it is in response to. Quoting in Skype means first pasting the message, then writing your own, and you've barely got any control over whether it pastes it as a quote or plain text.
  14. Nope, the use of a forum for communication is kind of necessary for us because of the timezones. For instance the largest difference; the difference between me [GMT+1] and Grim [EST-2] is 8 hours, if not for the fact that I have the sleep pattern close only to that of a dolphin (dolphins sleep only with half their brain at a time, thus they are awake 24/7) I'd be in bed by the time he'd get out of school.
  15. I just now made a Steam group for the Tavern, http://steamcommunity.com/groups/FaladorTavern Please join. It's to serve two purposes; one is to make it easier to arrange multiplayer games, the other is to avoid clogging up the Back Room here with discussion regarding the relocation.
  16. Archi has outright stated that he's not coming back because of the way the moderation here is handled. And the new forum too will be moderated, however by people that are actually part of the community and know the people there and how they tend to interact rather than outsiders who treat everyone like they're all strangers to eachother, this way it'll actually be differentiated between friendly, if heated, discussion and flaming. For instance, just look at how half of mine and Serephurus' conversation was removed just yesterday, his side being called trolling and and mine feeding the troll, whereas any member (or at least senior member) of this community will recognize it as one of his usual jests and me telling him it missed the target.
  17. Don't get why you're so adverse to the idea. There's a reason I'm the only one here who has stayed faithfully since the first Hegemony thread without any extended breaks. It's not like making a user there is going to be any kind of an effort compared to how we have to continuously watch our asses here in order to stay out of trouble. We're always bothered with intervention happening when it's unwanted, but not when a certain someone decides to make a mockery of our community. Almost everyone here has at some point wanted to move, and if we don't they'll at some point want to again, so why not just do it? And Randox, you are of course welcome to join in over there as well. Even if you don't join any of the games, it's always great to have more friends to talk to.
  18. Too much.
  19. Archi's made it pretty clear that he's not coming back on this forum. He does however seem open to moving to the forum I've created, so if we could move over there where a discussion won't be forcibly ended with a ban, it would save us a lot of hassle.
  20. Meh, it's not that disabling, I just have to be careful with fragile stuff so I don't accidentally crush it. It's not like I'm gonna end up hurting myself since I've still got the sense of touch.
  21. Still don't have that functionality back. It's not numb, just gone, like the nerve has been cut.
  22. Shit, I just lost the neural feedback in my right index finger, I can no longer feel its position or the force exerted by it.
  23. Today I was kicked from Runescape for legitimately playing for 6 consecutive hours, after which I reconnected and played for at least 2 more. I've got this vague voice in my head telling me to reconsider what I'm doing with my life.
  24. Solar sails are being used, however only on a small scale, somewhere in between testing and actual deployment. Examples are IKAROS, Cosmos, NanoSail-D and several probes that used them in addition to other methods of thrust. And Randox, this was in astrotechnology class, and the task was to choose a subject, research it properly, write a text about it then hold a presentation. Added to that ion drives are actually really simple, working by ionizing a propellant (for example by sending an electric current through it) and using either the electromagnetic or electrostatic principle to eject it at an extreme velocity.
  25. Listening to a presentation about space propulsion by two of my classmates: "There were some problems, but suddenly it worked, mystically or magically or whatever." "He wasn't very European, a little bit Russian." "Solar sails are still a very new and experimental technology." Kill me now... please!
