  1. Retech criticizing me? Since when does that happen? Also I don't make characters with malevolent habits. It'd be far more like me if it was just turning heads, not turning them square.
  2. No, I'm against any system that requires reading the source material. Pathfinder is good because all the information is readily available in an easy format on d20pfsrd. Thus Dungeoneering is ideal, Pathfinder is good and D&D would work, but I'm not familiar with it.
  3. Could you change the poll to a multiple choice or add a secondary vote?
  4. Suggesting using a system where information is readily available in a clean, easily accessible and systematic format with handles for cross-referencing.
  5. I think the four dots are, though they weren't directly caused by fire, but rather boiling sugar that started exploded from an overheated marshmallow. The gash on my chin was caused by a 60km/h faceplant, the one on my lip was caused by a cat and the two between my lower lip and my chin I have no idea.
  6. Well, for one I'm not blonde. I'm smack dab in between blonde and brown. And secondly the only reason you can't see the scars is because it is a picture, so it has rather limited color differentiation between similar shades. And if you think it looks like stubble (which by the way, there is some patchwork of), the picture was taken half an hour after shaving, that's as close a shave as I can get thanks to my scars making my chin rather unsmooth. If I want a clean shave, I need an open flame.
  7. You guys remember the discussion on whether my beard was just a lazy donut or not? Beard: https://dl.dropboxus...54/IMAG0227.jpg No beard: https://dl.dropboxus...54/IMAG0237.jpg No beard, scars highlighted: https://dl.dropboxus...54/IMAG02372.jpg
  8. No, I made him sign away his land and threw him out of the keep, he returned ten minutes later and started hitting the keep with a stick.
  9. You're the one forcing the combat, not us or the system. Just look at the first session of the current setting, where we made a guy submit through negotiation, then you went ahead and made him attack regardless.
  10. I think you've forgotten that the following skills exist: Appraise, Diplomacy, Knowledge, Craft, Bluff, Handle Animal, Linguistics, Perform, Profession and Sense Motive.
  11. It makes sense, though. The plot is on you, we're just here to [bleep] up every single one of your plans once you let us at it. In all seriousness, we've spent the last few weeks arguing for a stronger plot (with the exception of Mather, who's arguing more for freedom). You've tried player-driven plots, they haven't gone very far. As much as we might like them, we might have to admit that this group can't handle them. I'm not arguing for plot because I have a tendency to make my own whenever needed. If I spot something my character can use, I make sure he gets it in the end and thus force him through a series of unintended subplots to get it.
  12. As has been said, optimization is not a problem. Some people put all their cards in one place, that's just a playing style. Freedom of character and freedom of play amount to the same thing, one is just more immediately measurable than the other. Strict rules are more imbalanced than loose ones, because with loose rules, people can do what they're comfortable with, while in strict rules some people follow them obediently while others try to get around them. And scaling stuff up is how higher level play works, except you don't improve the inn's lock, but rather introduce high level treasure chests that hold better loot than the common ones.
  13. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you try limiting the players' power through the rules, you're only encouraging optimization. A good game is one that accepts the fact that the players are stronger than they should be, and places the challenges thereafter. Dungeoneering worked with immense freedom because there were no rules for us to try to beat. When we got overpowered, the enemies got overpowered. What a game needs to be truly enjoyable is a combination of a good story, loose rules and lots of freedom. The latter two have to be equal, if they're not the game becomes unbalanced. Also it's more fun to be a superhero facing a supervillain than a soldier facing a slime, just because we're overpowered doesn't mean the game is broken, rather the opposite.
  14. Everything requires something. Just having a character requires a text editor. But Skype is a standard, almost everyone has it and even Microsoft has decided to accept it as the official successor to their own chat client.
  15. There's a thing for Skype that lets you roll dice there, only one person in the chat needs to have it for it to work: http://sourceforge.net/projects/dicerollerv20fo/
  16. Cultural is the only one that would make sense of those, but seeing as the land has been under the rule of the current house for hundreds of years, it's very unlikely.
  17. Well, seeing as they're clans, they're probably outlaws, people don't cut themselves off from society unless there's a reason for it.
  18. Who wants to go destroy a clan? I say we capture as much of the clan as we can, execute the two leaders in front of lord Anselheim and turn the rest of the clan into eunuch slaves.
  19. I'll just be getting the papers for the farms and bakeries I took over and handing them to the guy who was starting to get big on the market between sessions so that I don't end up forgetting about it before next time.
  20. Ok, so major is now Courage instead, so I and all allies within 10ft are immune to fear effects that permit a saving roll and can roll against a DC of 15 for normally unsaveable ones. EDIT: And I have six bodyguards.
  21. You know a Heavy Repeating Crossbow with the Endless Ammunition ability would have the same DMG as a rifle at 1.5x the range and none of the drawbacks, right? It's even got a similar property as what allowed me to add DEX to DMG, just in the form of a feat that uses INT. Anyways, built a new character you've got nothing to complain about. https://dl.dropboxus...254/HÃ¥kon.xlsm Though I rolled Long Life for both minor and major blood ability, what should I do about that? I don't think it's reasonable for a human to have an estimated lifetime of 1616 years. Also what does that +2 mod in bloodline mean? EDIT: Actually, that lifetime would make sense since I'm of house Anselheim, and Lord Anselheim is 103 years old and still going, though it depends on how young he still looks. EDIT 2: No, wait, the estimated lifetime is 8016 years, 1616 is for just major ability.
  22. No, my character did not just die. My character didn't take a point of damage despite that whole session being a supposed meatgrinder.
  23. What's so bad about Advanced Firearms anyways? They're far from overpowered. I mean, they usually provoke AoOs when firing and reloading, they misfire (and take damage from it) on natural 1s and they usually take move actions to reload with expensive ammunition. I'm just counteracting these weak points with a series of feats and traits: Deft Shootist Deed which removes AoOs when I've got at least 1 grit, Rapid Reload to speed up reloading (requires Weapon Focus with that one firearm), Reliable property on firearms to negate misfires and I crafted my own ammunition using the Gunsmithing feat when I created the character. Of the feats I've taken, only 2 are not there solely to negate penalties inherent in using firearms, and I've spent a total of 36k on the equipment. Oh, and since they're ranged weapons, I can't use them for attacks of opportunity.
  24. It would make more sense for everyone to switch to Anselheim since it's a royal house whereas Larmbert is just a noble house. And yes, a noble goblin does make sense, and if my reputation precedes me, it'll do me nothing but good. Now I don't give two shits about what you predict will go well, because my silver tongue will keep me out of trouble for as long as I need it.
  25. It was Anselheim I was picked for this time, not Lambert. I rolled 7, 8, 6, remember, and 6th on the list is house Anselheim.
