  1. Osteomancy and Akyromancy. Though the former should fall under Biomancy and the latter under Choromancy. As flesh was just a common denominator for body mass and a void is the most pure form of space.
  2. The magics are the manipulation of their elements, not their creation of it (with Pyromancy and Othomancy being exceptions for obvious reasons), so Culiomancy isn't making food, it's using food to do magic, for example by enchanting a sandwich or making a pudding golem. And standardization of language in a game is beyond sensical, seeing as 1. the standardization is primarily for player convenience 2. each game features either one culture, or several cultures that inexplicably speak the exact same language. And you claim they don't sound good? Try saying each both in Greek and English, the Greek names are more fluid because rather than just putting magic after the key word, you modify the prefix with the explicit reason of fitting fluently with the suffix.
  3. You are aware that Oneiromancy, Chronomancy, Geomancy and several of the others are as well, right? And following that form is the logical choice as it is more reasonable to have one set of rules for naming schools of magic than two. 9/17 are ancient forms of divination with a proper Greek name, and hence they (albeit barely) outweigh those that don't have one. Besides what does the lack of origin matter for the rest of them when they can easily and properly be translated?
  4. We're not talking about the futuristic game with that, we're talking about Dungeoneering. And the Greek isn't arbitrary, it's an irrefutable fact that any work of fiction that uses English instead of Greek names for schools of magic is pure shit. Just like any doctor that uses for example fear of spiders as a term instead of arachnophobia is a hoax and anyone who says sexual preference for the opposite gender instead of heterosexual is a complete idiot who's either trying to sound smart or is actually dumb enough to not know the term.
  5. A tip for making the GM/Player partnership better: When making puzzles, try to make them enjoyable rather than hard. It's better to have something that responds in a way that makes us curious, but gives us a hint as to what to do rather than something we have to figure out on our own. Another idea is to make the solutions to something be according to mainstream fictional or real properties, such as the way we beat the invulnerable guardian things in the castle cellar by incinerating the diamonds that projected them. And when the answer to something is a Chekhov's key, don't be reluctant to tell us how it is related to the lock for example by being of the same metal or a similar design.
  6. So what's up with having Stevepole lock up the Crossroads thread in the middle of discussing how to proceed? Isn't that a little counterproductive? Also who's for making the Greek-English magic school dictionary I made a standard for terminology in future games of the Dungeoneering style, and hence adding it to one of the stickies? [hide=The dictionary, for those that weren't following the Crossroads thread]Aeromancy - Air/wind magic. Allomancy - Metal magic. Biomancy - Flesh/body magic. Choromancy - Space magic. Chronomancy - Time magic. Cryomancy - Ice/frost magic. Culiomancy - Food magic. Electromancy - Electricity/field magic. Fytomancy - Nature/plant magic. Geomancy - Earth/stone magic. Hydromancy - Water/tide/current/moisture magic. Necromancy - Death/undeath magic. Neuromancy - Mind/brain/nerve magic. Oneiromancy - Dream magic. Othomancy - Force/push magic. Photomancy - Light/ilusion magic. Pyromancy - Fire/heat magic.[/hide]Open for additions and changes. If you can think of a school, but not the Greek name, don't worry, I can handle the translation.
  7. Since you've got 21,1 total, I don't think it would be too unfair for me to have 30 to account for all the good bonuses I got from the weird food. Biomancy: 15 Geomancy: 5 Othomancy: 4 Metalcrafting: 6 Work in progress... Gold x204. Potion belt. Trenchcoat. Fedora. Platemail. Sword x3. Whip x5. Also, could we just settle on using the Greek names for every form of magic? Sounds a whole lot professional that way, and we avoid stuff like the geomancy/earth magic issue from the original Dungeoneering. Aeromancy - Air/wind magic. Allomancy - Metal magic. Biomancy - Flesh/body magic. Choromancy - Space magic. Chronomancy - Time magic. Chryomancy - Ice/frost magic. Culiomancy - Food magic. Electromancy - Electricity/field magic. Fytomancy - Nature/plant magic. Geomancy - Earth/stone magic. Necromancy - Death/undeath magic. Neromancy - Water/tide/current/moisture magic. Neuromancy - Mind/brain/nerve magic. Oneiromancy - Dream magic. Othomancy - Force/push magic. Photomancy - Light/ilusion magic. Pyromancy - Fire/heat magic. Arch, you got the old character sheets? The last session from when Crossroads still was a Dungeoneering game was either March 18th or 25th if that helps.
  8. Well, not being able to do anything was sort of the point there; to build up the sense of hopelessness that the situation caused. If you were able to do things right off the bat, then where would the drive to explore come from? Exploration is optional when you're in control, as many find no point in improving the situation if you can already survive comfortably.
  9. Not retro-futuristic, the only way it can be done in a manner that isn't annoying is the way Fallout did it. I'd like a new Space game though, one suggestion I have is making it similar to SGU; being stranded on an empty, vast, autonomous spaceship that does stuff without giving us any reason why.
  10. And I now officially live in the middle of nowhere. Nice view though, with my windows facing the roughly 3,000m² that can be called downtown Andenes.
  11. Yo, Sere! Wazzup?
  12. Angel Beats = Best anime ever. It wasn't what I was looking for, but it's got me bawling my eyes out so I've got to give it a 7/6. EDIT: Must've been a long time since the last last time I was happy, because I won't stop crying and I feel like I'm going insane. EDIT2: 2 years, it's been 2 years since the last time I was actually happy. And for [bleep]'s sake, can't I stop crying? I'm almost incapable any more sounds and it feel like I'm literally wringing out my heart.
  13. Archi told me to say at 20:00 GMT that if we aren't playing by then, then we won't.
  14. My computer's only running at 40% CPU and 40% RAM, and it didn't lag when I tried playing, so the lag isn't originating here. And since my upload is higher than anyone else here's download, even when tested against servers in New York, it's not originating between my computer and the world-wide-web either.
  15. Let me try removing Orebfuscator. Anti-xray mods such as it often have adverse effects on genuine blocks, though I don't see how that would prevent drops. EDIT: Don't know if it would have worked before, but drops certainly appear now.
  16. That's very strange... My computer is running smoothly at far below maximum capacity, and unless iZone is running haywire, then there's no explanation for the block issues.
  17. You should find it classified as a LAN server or with 5.15.158.251 through Hamachi.
  18. Aye. Server's up.
  19. It wasn't even any question if they were going to bring him back, he's the sole drive of the series. The moment he was gone I was just thinking "Hope they don't delay finding a way to get him back for too long, this is just painful to watch." EDIT: And now I'm back to having nothing to watch... It's hard to be someone who devours enjoyment. Things never last when you do them for up to entire days day consecutively. In the last 113 hours, I've watched over 48 hours of anime... I don't even have any excuse to make, that's just plain wrong...
  20. Yeah, because it's not like the only thing you now know is a crappy plot twist that isn't even relevant until Season 3 and is given away too early in episode 1 for there to even be any excitement. Besides, that's the kind of ttwist you know is going to be undone almost right away.
  21. Ok, now Shakugan no Shana is pissing me off. Season 3 starts on the worst premise ever. It's like they went "Hmm, how are we going to start off season 3? ...I know, let's retcon season 2's happy ending and say the main protagonist was erased from existence."
  22. There was no technobabble in IS either, I think what really put me off was the slow moving lasers, hovering robot parts and the missiles that didn't explode when cleaved in half with a plasma sword. Also I'm currently at season 2 of Shakugan no Shana, it's good, being a close approximate of what I'm looking for, though the innocence prevents it from being great.
  23. It wasn't the science there, it was how overly sugary it was.
  24. I'm not being picky, that soft science actually made me sick, just like when I tried to watch MLP.
  25. Not necessarily tsundere. Funny can also mean such as in Fairy Tail, where Juvia is madly in love with Gray but consistently ignored, emphasis here on the mad part as she's delusional and has a tendency to shout her internal monologues. And thanks, I'll take a look at Infinite Stratos. EDIT: You got the basics right there, with the exception of the save the world stuff. Sadly though the very premise of the show disgusts me, so while I enjoy what I've seen of the character interaction, the soft-quasi-science gives me a stomach ache. You had no way of knowing this though, so you got it right while I just forgot to rule out high-tech battle-mechs and the like.
