11-Jan-2010 - Nomads Requiem
Even though I beat him on my first try, he was most definitely not easy. There is no other quest boss fight like this. I was cavalier with my brew/restore ratio, so I nearly ran out of restores at the end. In addition, there were two instances where I was almost KOed once he started doing the 2x melee berserk. My biggest piece of advice is to take cover when he lays mines. Too many people tank his 75 damage attack, and as a result they struggle to beat him before they run out of brews. I tanked all his 75 hits and 95 hits on me. :P There is also a path out of the mine field. Heard about some people who ran to take cover from the 75 then ran over the mines and got ko'ed. Run straight backwards lol.

Just to add to that, he is weak to stab. Also, void is the best possible gear if you melee him, because the strength/accuracy bonuses are roughly equivalent to Bandos, and it has 2 less magic defense than Black D Hide. If you have Turmoil, I highly recommend you use a Z spear + Void instead of ranging him. He deals too much damage too often (and you damage yourself) to wait for ruby specs to knock his HP down. Slow and steady...

What method is that?

It's not needed, but it really helps.

11-Jan-2010 - Nomads Requiem
I beat Nomad, first try. I used full Void, a Zamorakian Spear, fire cape, Zerker (i), Fury, and D boots. I brought 10 s. restores and 36 brews (counting turtle). I ended with 11.5 brews and .75 s. restores. Used Turmoil + Soul Split the entire fight. Here's a massively helpful tip: When he says "let's try something interesting" run your [wagon] off to escape before he circles you with mines. Take refuge behind the south-westernmost pillar, and he will run over to you and engage you in melee. After a few rounds, he teleports to the center and says "You can't hide from this" or something to that effect and uses his 75 damage attack. If you stand behind the pillar, it will hit the pillar and splash. Then run out into the center and start fighting him again, because if you spend too much time hiding, the battle will end and you will have to start over.

Yep. Which is why this big bad boss fight has no teeth. Think about this for a second, though. I've judged from reading on many forums that most people require three or more deaths before they are able to beat him. If you lost your items every time, it would be extremely frustrating for many, many people. As it is, you spend quite a bit on supplies for each attempt.

It's a HP to 1 attack. If you only have 85 HP max, that attack will hit 84.

L brews are bought out. 5 GP that merchant clans are behind it.

The difficulty of the boss fight alone should deem it Grandmaster. To beat this boss, you need at least 80+ combat stats, 68+ summoning, and decent equipment. Jagex rates quests based on the requirements, length, and difficulty of fights. Though the length is moderate and the official requirements are Master-level, when you factor in the stats you need to have a good chance at beating the boss, I can definitely see it being labeled GM.

Merchanting Clans do more harm than good?
It would help if Jagex simply made "advertising a merchant clan" a mutable offense. This would put an end to many of the autotypers. I know many a player mod who would get major jollies from mass-muting those [bleep]ers. It would also help if Jagex were to remove the RSOF marketplace forums. The majority of threads are created by price manipulators who make several fake threads in unison with each other to fool the masses into thinking a certain item or items are being dumped/bought out. There is no way for Jagex to completely eliminate merchant clans so long as the GE remains as broken as it is, but they can certainly take measures to make merch clans' loathsome process more cumbersome.

I am Gadwin KoD, the guy using Soul Split.- Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!
Your rounding the wrong way. Soul split is one 1 hp per 4 damage dealt (which is 1/4 of the damage dealt rounded down to the nearest whole number). If the remainder is 1-3 then the remainder is ignored. Source: So if you hit a 50, its 50/4 = 12.5 Rounded to 12. (50-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4=2. 2 remainder is ignored) If you hit a 49, its 49/4 = 12.25 Rounded to 12. (49-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4=1. 1 remainder is ignored) Both hits would heal the same. But either way Bruno's hit was still glitched somehow. Why does a 20 heal 4 HP, then?- Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!
Soul Split heals 1/5 instead of 1/4, rounded down. If you hit a 50, you heal 10, but if you hit a 49, you only heal 9. You hit a 57, so you should have healed 11 HP. I have no idea how you healed so much.- Mint Cakes
Because mint cakes have an "invisible value" to them; you can only obtain certain "bought-out" items by including mint cakes. It's a very rudimentary economic system, comparable to when banks were backed by "good faith" instead of gold. At any time, the "good faith" can collapse and then the market will be in upheaval.- 3rd Age/Spirit shields/Phats Discussion
Andrew, apparently much like the rest of Jagex, sucks at economics.- Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!
You should read the Runescape Community clan forums. "OMFG U DDOSD OUR VENT/TS, U R CRAP WITHOUT DDOS" has become a favorite excuse when one clan loses to another clan. #-o- 3rd Age/Spirit shields/Phats Discussion
It is only a matter of time until either 1) Jagex decides to put an end to "mints" by either making them non-tradeable or making them easily obtainable from other sources. 2) Merchants get bored with mints and decide to create some new "bargaining chip" item.- World Record Held by Runescape Player

Seems like every week someone does something like this. Jagex's bot can't tell if you are joking or not, only that you said something that was against the rules. Bottom line: watch what you say. If it could possibly be interpreted as rule-breaking, don't say it.- Quest - The Wrath of Lucien
Introduction: In While Guthix Sleeps, Lucien had acquired the Staff of Armadyl and the Stone of Jas. Now, with possession of both of these powerful artifacts, Lucien aims to ascend into Godhood and then use his powers to enslave all races through Runescape: humans, dwarves, and elves alike. His plans for domination of Gielinor can only be stopped by you, brave adventurer. Do you have what it takes? Requirements: -Must have completed While Guthix Sleeps and the Rum Deal -76 ranged (90+ recommended) -70 herblore -75 agility -70 mining -69 farming -Must be very proficient in combat Rewards: -5x 150,000 xp in any skill over 70. -1,000,000 coins -Shattered Staff of Armadyl There are four shards needed to repair the Staff of Armadyl, which are obtained as rare drops by fighting Liches inside Lucien's Castle (about a 1 in 150 drop rate). They do not drop shards of the Staff until you slay Lucien and complete the quest. Also note that, because Azzanadra died, he no longer assists you in traversing the Castle. You receive the shaft of the staff as a reward from the quest, but should you lose that or if you did not pick it up when you killed Lucien, you can obtain it as a semi-common drop from a Lich. To repair the SoA, you need 80 smithing, 85 prayer and 85 crafting. To wield it, you need 80 magic and 80 attack. In addition, there are seven Blessed Jewels that can be obtained as very rare drops from any kind of demon. K'ril Tutsaroth has the best chance of dropping them, at about 1 in 75. Each Blessed Jewel can be attached to the shaft of the staff, imbuing it with a fraction of the power of that element. When a specific jewel is imbued, spell costs involving that rune are reduced by one. There is an Earth Jewel, Fire Jewel, Air Jewel, Water Jewel, Blood Jewel, Chaos Jewel, and Death Jewel. To attach them, it requires 95 crafting and 90 magic. You can only have two lesser (elemental) jewels (even of the same type) and one greater (chaos/death/blood) jewel attached at one time. The Staff of Armadyl obtains the title "Staff of Armadyl (I)" and becomes non-tradable while imbued with any Blessed Jewels. You can remove a jewel at any time, but it will be destroyed in the process. Staff of Armadyl (two-handed staff): Attack: Stab: 115 Slash: 0 Crush: 95 Magic: 50 Ranged: 0 Defense: Stab: 30 Slash: 30 Crush: 30 Magic: 50 Ranged: 0 Summoning: 30 Miscellaneous: Strength: 120 Prayer: 8 Speed: 4 Magic Damage: +20% Other: Can be used to cast any god spell. Special Attack: Focus: Increases the damage of your next spell by 50%. Only affects god spells (if you select the special and then try to cast a spell that isn't a god spell, you receive the message "This can only be used with god spells"). 75% drain.- Jan. 11 Update Speculation responsible for many items crashing?
And this is part of why I firmly believe that Jagex should remove the RSOF marketplace forums. People on the RSOF are too gullible, and merchant/manipulator clans know that, so it's pretty easy for them to have a bunch of their members post similar false offers, leading the ignorant masses to believe that X item is being bought out or dumped and therefore panic buy/sell that item. Removing the RSOF marketplace would be a major blow to manipulator clans. - Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!
