  1. I don't see where you got 40% from. What the Laffer curve shows is that in some situations, lowering the tax rate can increase revenue, and increasing the tax rate can decrease revenue. Moar info: http://www.manhattan-institute.org/html/ir_22.htm
  2. Mathmatically proven, yet misunderstood. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laffer_curve
  3. This is an argument based on an incredible amount of ignorance. You're acting as if people on welfare receive anything close to the working average wage. Cite numbers then. Because I can tell you in 2011 America spent more than $1 trillion on means tested welfare. E: http://www.foxbusiness.com/government/2012/10/18/trillion-dollar-cost-welfare/
  4. I'm not calling them lazy, they have no incentive to change. One of the crowning jewel's in Obama's progressive policy was to remove the work requirement from means tested welfare. Also, when you have 99 paid weeks to find a new job, where's the incentive to find work? The immigration system is broken, but that isn't what's getting people killed. Spill-over violence from the drug cartels is unacceptable. The only thing the administration has done is further arm them (see Fast and Furious). The entire issue should be taken on in one fell swoop - increase the amount of security at the border, fix the immigration system so that people that want to come here can, and declare war on the cartels. When Iran's people were rallying in the street against their government, President Obama should have supported them. If the Iranian government was toppled, America could have gained an ally. He didn't. Instead, President Obama ousted "friendly" dictators, which shows anyone that wants to be America's ally that America might not have your back further down the road.
  5. I'm curious, how do you consider it lacking? Benghazi. Lead from behind. The rise of the Muslim Brotherhood. Seems like everyone loves to complain about how religion and politics shouldn't mix and that political candidates should basically act as atheists once elected. Well, guess what the Middle East is doing.
  6. The east coast is still in ruins, the unemployment rate is still high, the labor force participation rate is at an all time low, the United State's foreign policy for dealing with Islamic Extremism certainly is lacking, the security of the U.S. - Mexico boarder still leaves something to be desired, America is still 16 trillion dollars in debt and is still spending the stimulus every year for trillion dollar deficits. The feds are still flooding the market with dollars to try to kick-start inflation, 47 million people are still on food stamps, and we may have just reached the point where more people are dependent on government and are voting "to get theirs" than are voting for love of country. At the very least, Obama shouldn't be able to blame his predecessor in 4 years.
  7. I'd call Hurricane Sandy the "perfect storm" for Obama.
  8. On September 12th, 2012, Obama refused to call the attack a terrorist attack. CBS just released previously editted footage from 60 minutes: http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=50134495n http://www.theblaze.com/stories/cbs-releases-previously-withheld-60-minutes-interview-segment-in-which-obama-refuses-to-call-benghazi-a-terrorist-attack/
  9. So just to confirm, ItsASpork. We're wagering our signatures for the two months following the election - from November 7th to January 7th. I'm betting that Mitt Romney will receive more total votes than Barack Obama, and you're betting that Barack Obama will receive more total votes than Mitt Romney. Keep in mind the signature must follow forum rules. [hide] 2.4 - Signatures and Avatars Forum Signature Limits are 500 pixels wide by 250 pixels high by 150Kb file size. There is a 10 image limit to a signature, but the combined dimensions/file size of all the images may not exceed 500 x 250 pixels x 150Kb. Avatar limits are 100 pixels wide by 100 pixels high, by 100Kb file size. Images in hide tags are still subject to our size restrictions. For signatures with images (regardless of size or how many) there will be a limit of 4 lines of text or 10 lines of text if you put them inside a hide tag. Each use of quote tags counts as one line of text in addition to the number of lines being quoted. In the case of signatures without images, please exercise common sense with the amount used. Excessive text in an imageless signature and other excessive or disruptive images or text will be removed at a moderator's discretion. We do not permit religious, racial or sexual references/proclamations in signatures or avatars, this includes images and text. Quotes made by religious figures are allowable in signatures if the name is removed and the content of the quote does not promote or demote any religion. Religious, racial and sexual orientation content is permitted in the About Me section of profiles only, as long as the content is not bashing another religion/race/sexual orientation or advertising conversion. All other Tip.it Forum Rules apply in signatures, avatars and profiles (including the About Me section). However, the board Administrators reserve the right for final authorization and may approve, request you to change, or outright remove any image or text regardless of size, especially if it's deemed inappropriate.[/hide] I'm going to ask that you post your signature on Tuesday, and I'll do the same. Let me know if there's any other conditions you'd like on the bet. Also Range, are you willing to take me up on the avatar bet?
  10. If it was a sure thing then there wouldn't be any point in betting. Anyhow, you don't have enough confidence in Obama to risk it?
  11. I'd be willing to bet a TIF signature that Romney wins the popular vote, and an avatar that Romney wins overall (each for 2 months, changed to something within the forum rules).
  12. So the first bit of news on Benghazi from ABC paints a positive picture for the Obama administration. Who'd have guessed. You blame the Republicans for politicizing this, but as I've demonstrated in previous posts there has been a double standard from September 12th. Romney condemns the apology, the President condemns the apology, and the media challenges Romney on "politicizing" the issue. The administration for 2 weeks claims that the attack was a riot spawned from a spontaneous demonstration, and the media still criticizes Romney for "politicizing" the issue, when in reality the administration was covering up what really happened to make their foreign policy look good. It's mind boggling how corrupt the mainstream media is.
  13. I think Lucas did that for tax purposes. If he sold it in a year, he'd be taxed at a higher rate. Anyhow, Disney will probably release star wars under touchstone.
  14. Starting at 1:18... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pVTrnxCZaQ&t=1m18s
  15. Well, pumpkins grow hollow with lots of seeds and gunk on the inside. So the first step is to cut into the top at an angle, in order to remove the stem and make a lid. Then, you'd scrape around the insides in order to remove the seeds and gunk, and further hollow out the inside. I like to then pick the surface that I'm going to carve, and further scrape the wall of that area on the inside so it's about 1/2 - 1" thick (1-3 cm thick). This makes doing detailed work easy. The next step is to take one of these templates, print it out (scale it to match the pumpkin), and cut it into a few large sections and pin it to the pumpkin. This is to make putting a flat piece of paper on a curve much easier. Finally, you take a knife (I used an exacto knife), poke a hole through one of the light areas on the template. Then you take a fine saw and saw out the area. Its best to work from the middle of the template to the outside, doing the small parts first. The cat that I posted took about 4 hours to carve, so it's pretty intricate work. Some people will use dremels (hand held rotary tool with many attachments), but I haven't tried that yet. Last thing is when carving a pumpkin, you can have 4 different shades. Black is where you don't carve, Yellow is where you carve. Light orange is where you scrape the skin off the pumpkin in that area, and dark orange is where you scrape the wall out from underneath leaving the skin (very difficult).
  16. My problem with Gary Johnson is he first ran as a Republican, and when that didn't work out he started running as a Libertarian. So which is he, a Republican or Libertarian? And then ads for him tick me off. "You need a third choice..." Out of Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, Herman Cain, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann, Tim Pawlenty, Thaddeus McCotter, Buddy Roemer, and you, Gary Johnson, Americans picked Mitt Romney. How many more choices do we need? And if you can't get any significant support from the Republican party in the primary, why would they support you in the general election?
  17. Bill Clinton was impeached for perjuring himself. Not just lying, but lying under oath, which is a felony. If Obama's administration would call a spade a spade, Libya would be a non issue.
  18. Because Bush lied to the American people for 2 weeks following the attack. Oh, and his administration was watching the hijacking live for 5 hours before the planes crashed into the WTC, right?
  19. Found some of my older work. Also had time to carve the cheshire cat last night. [hide] [/hide] [hide] [/hide] Happy Halloween!
  20. This wasn't some special ops mission to assassinate some foreign diplomat. The administration lied about this for political reasons. Anyhow, the whole point of the media is to provide a means for whistle blowers. They're apart of our constitutional checks and balances via the 1st amendment. But you're also ignoring the people that testified under oath before Congress, which changed the administration's story: http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/as-congressional-hearings-open-the-benghazi-narrative-changes-again/ What we're learning right now is there are emails that show the administration knew about the attack in real time. We also know that the attacks took place over many hours, and that while the attack was going on Ansar al-Shariah claimed responsibility for it via social networking, but also because their logos were on the trucks used to conduct the attack. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/emails-white-house-informed-within-two-hours-of-benghazi-attack-that-radical-islamic-group-claimed-responsibility/
  21. I'll trust the unnamed sources whose accounts make sense over the version from the administration that we now know has LIED ABOUT THIS FOR TWO WEEKS.
