2012 U.S. Elections - President Obama Re-elected

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/bam-vid-called-race-baiting-article-1.1173368#ooid=I0ZXEyNjpnfCdoMXulS8XIOcpzf13thD 10 days before he said that, congress waived the Stafford act requirement, so New Orleans (like New York and Miami) didn't have to match 10%. Oh, and Obama voted against that bill. -

Obama's strategy in the campaign thus far has been to demonize Mitt Romney. It has worked until now because most people haven't heard Mitt Romney directly - normally just sound bites and talking heads paraphrasing what he's said. It won't continue to work because Romney just got direct exposure to the American public, and showed that he wasn't a three-headed monster, and he knew his stuff better than Obama. There were a couple of moments in the debate that I think Romney called out Obama - the tax breaks for shipping jobs overseas ("I have no idea what you're talking about," followed by the President changing the subject), along with "not being specific enough" even though Obama cited several points in his policies and plans. One of the things that hurt Mitt Romney the most during the primaries was the fact that he was a Republican from a very liberal state - Ideologues absolutely hate bipartisanship. Moderates love it though, and Romney can consistently point out examples of being bipartisan while simultaneously point out examples of Obama being an ideologue. I'd like to see Obama talk about the 47% remark in the next debate, because I'd love to see Romney slam him about the 14% Obama was pandering to 5 years ago. Which reminds me - Romney hazing people in high school (50 years ago?) is dug up by the media, but Obama race baiting 5 years ago was covered up. Media bias. -
Your advice seems rather specific, given you don't even know how well he'd perform in a military role. So he's screwed up, got no opportunities... only thing he's good for is front line infantry right? I think that attitude died about a dozen years ago, at least. My opinion is that he needs discipline, and opportunities. My thoughts were that the military will give troubled youth discipline, and opportunities, unlike many companies in the private sector (or universities for that matter), so my advice is to join the military. Why are you so cynical that you assumed I meant cannon fodder?

My first job was as a caddy at Crooked Stick golf course, working during the summers. My first full time position was as an Electrical Engineer co-op student at Technicolor, which lasted for 5 semesters. Somehow, I don't think that will help you with your current situation. My advice to you is to straighten up, apologize to your parents and your girlfriend's parents, get back in school and graduate. And once you become of age, join the military.

I feel like I could murder several puppies. Spent the past 5 hours working on homework that's due tomorrow. After getting done with it, I saw I received an email from the TA saying that there was a typo in the homework, and they've since updated it (email was sent about 2 hours ago). They've also decided to push back the due date by 2 days. Mildly annoying, could have gotten to bed earlier, but meh. I can deal with that. Whatever the typo was, I overlooked it. Curious, I compared the updated homework to the problems that I did, and they've changed all the [bleep]ing coefficients. This means all my answers are wrong, and I just wasted 5 hours of my time because I didn't procrastinate long enough. Un [bleep]ing believable.

Bicyclists and long boarders - You are not pedestrians. Walk your bike, pick up your long board, or get the hell off the sidewalks. Follow the freaking traffic signals. A stop sign does not mean swerve into pedestrians and ride in the crosswalk. A one way road is a one way road. I'm tired of almost being run over by bicyclists. I think I'm going to start throwing elbows as they pass me.

Been several times. My older brother is a senior financial analyst at a casino, so I've heard all sorts of stories.

If they wanted to kill you, they'd put some kind of delayed release poison in their product and call it a day.

There are certain works and ideas that are timeless; it doesn't matter how old they are or when they were thought of, they still hold truth. -

I'm going to have to say that John Locke was a better philosopher, and disagree with you. I don't buy Locke's philosophy for a second. The intellectuals of the Enlightenment were against democracy--at least most of them were. They wanted education and law, yes, but they didn't want it in the hands of the masses. They feared populist movements. This was the age of Enlightened Absolutism. The Enlightenment philosophers have some pretty sounding quotes, but their philosophies have not held up over time. Theirs is the philosophy of self-interest. You can find a rationalization for just about anything the state does that is based on "reason." This includes law. populist movements like the French Revolution... Or any lawless riot. The most stable government in recent history is based on Locke's philosophy. Laws allow people to leave their homes to vacation or protest, without fearing someone will take it or destroy it. -

I'm not defending him, I'm pointing out media bias. When a U.S. Embassy issues a statement, it is the official position of the current administration. The apology the U.S. Embassy made was on twitter for hours. Mitt Romney waited to condemn it after 9/11. Obama condemned the statement too, and the media only focused on Romney's response. In fact, they pretty much ignored the entire story, about how a U.S. ambassador was killed (which is tantamount to an act of war), just so they could attack Romney. http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2012/09/12/Mainstream-Media-Caught-Coordinating-Attack-on-Romney-Open-Mic-NBC-Time-New-York-Times -

Media Bias - Media prefers Obama to Romney, and their coverage reflects that. When Obama calls half of America racist bigots, media ignores it. When Romney explains why he won't campaign to people that won't vote for him, the media attacks him. Media Bias - when Romney condemns the U.S. Embassy's apology for free speech, and Obama condemns the very same, the media attacks Romney and ignores Obama. Federal Income tax != Social Security Contributions != State Income Tax ... The fact is that 47% of Americans pay no Federal Income Taxes. -

Logically, and in context, Romney is correct. A politically astute observer will tell you that Romney shouldn't have been the one to say it. What I predict is going to happen is that political commentators in the media, along with ads from the Obama campaign are going to take this completely out of context and continue to harp on it. In context: I'm not going to campaign to people who aren't going to vote for me. Out of context: I don't care about half of America (or special interest x, y, z). -

If this story goes on for more than a week, I'm calling media bias. -

http://news.yahoo.com/democrats-change-platform-add-god-jerusalem-211928130--election.html http://www.theblaze.com/stories/report-dems-to-reinstate-jerusalem-language-in-dnc-platform/ Pew Research indicates that 92% of Americans believe in God or a higher being, and that 78% of Americans are Christian. Watching the debacle unfold, I felt embarrassed for the Democrats. This shouldn't have been an issue at all, and the fact that it is an issue within the party is a bit telling. -

Not sure if any of you bothered to watch the Republican National Convention. Lots of personal stories, made Romney seem human. That was probably the point, especially with all the character assassination going on. -
Not sure what's taking them so long to move to other platforms. All bluray players, and most U.S. cable boxes have an MHP/OCAP stack in them, which means they run Java. Technology is already there, they just need to utilize it...
