ever been *tempted* to cheat?
I had my first account banned because I botted... I haven't botted since. I don't see any reason to either, as when I no longer enjoy the game I take a break from it. Also, I have enough time invested in it to get where I'm at (and the content available) that I don't want to try to obtain it again.

Drinking/Drugs
I'll drink a few bears here and there. On the drinking age (21 in the states), my coworker puts it best - "At the age of 18, you're allowed to go die for your country, but you're not allowed to enjoy a nice cold one after?" The problem with other drugs in general is there is no way to get a good measurement of how impaired someone is - someone could be high as a kite, but unless you saw them shoot up you'd have no idea. Other than alcohol, I don't know of any drugs that have tests that can provide immediate feedback on how much someone has used/consumed, in a very accurate way. This is especially important for people operating motor vehicles - if drugs were legal, how dangerous would it be to drive a car?

The F2P General Discussion Thread
I'm sure Tez is up for a little break from RS. Getting 120 DG in F2P is not fun... Getting 91 DG in F2P was fun for me... Haven't been able to seriously train anything for the past month, too much work to do for school.

Project Gun Runner and Operation Fast and Furious
no no no... see you don't get it. There's 4 steps to this process: 1. We sell them the guns. 2. We wait to see where they pop up. 4. We confiscate the guns.

Grrr - I was unfairly muted/banned!
Just got a 2 day mute, but I have no messages from Jagex and my account is in the green zone? I have no idea what rule I broke, or why I'm muted. Don't you usually get some sort of information about it? EDIT: Went to dinner, came back, and now I have an offense on my account. Whats even stranger is: Offence: Offensive/Inappropriate Language Minor Type: Mute Offence Date: 02-Apr-2011 Offence Expiry: 01-Apr-2012 Service: RuneScape I'm already unmuted, without appealing. I've got no idea what's up.

April Fools day!
Serious question: what's with the My Little Pony things across the internet? A new 4chan meme? infinite ponies kick ass.

April Fools day!
I find it funnier when you get a hold of their phone, and change your name in their phone to something else... gives you a free pass to mess with them.

Project Gun Runner and Operation Fast and Furious
Huge over exaggeration. The murders mostly likely would still have happened regardless of the ATF. Maybe, but as a US citizen I would feel much better about them if I knew that they weren't sold the guns because of the ATF.

Protip: If you keep your cursor outside the webpage (over the scroll bar or on the windows toolbar), Justin Beiber's beautiful face disappears.

April Fools day!
I thought it was a cake they poisoned. If that's the case, than the poison would have evaporated during baking. Yes, I am fairly sure it was supposedly the cake that got poisioned, and besides the entire story was an attempt to get out of punishment by making him seem like a demon. And for my own April fools day plans, I dont plan on doing any pranks, and I most certainly am not doing any pranks as a group effort with people including him ^ (honestly, I planned my own avatar completely seperately) The cake is a lie.

Project Gun Runner and Operation Fast and Furious
In a war zone? yes. However, I'm sure that most people will agree that whether or not that ownership of an AK47 in a civilized country is legitimate is a mute point - allowing members of the drug cartel to purchase AK47s to see where they'd end up is outright ridiculous.

Project Gun Runner and Operation Fast and Furious
There's the possibility that President Obama or Attorney General Eric Holder knew about it. If that's the case I bet this will receive much more attention.

I should edit in a pot article so you guys are all on topic.

Project Gun Runner and Operation Fast and Furious
Its 1700 guns that went from legitimate sales people directly to thugs based on requests by the US government. The guns that also went out were also high powered, AK-47s or .50 caliber rifles (or similar), which they probably would have had a much harder time obtaining otherwise.

I heard about this, and was like I hope that everyone involved with this brilliant idea is moved to the basement, and have their red staplers taken away.

Article about murder & mutilation by US troops
I question Rolling Stone's motive for publishing this right now. This story is nothing new, in fact here is a Time article on the exact same events from October 12th of LAST YEAR.

China > America
2 - It may be less than 30%, but its still #1 on the list. Losing your #1 customer hurts. 3. China has a looming problem - the current ratio of male births to females births is currently at 1.13 - and under 15 is at 1.17. A healthy population is much nearer to 1 - basically what this means is China is becoming a huge sausage fest. This can be directly attributed to their population controls. 4. If China demands its debt, the US will likely default. All of a sudden a large portion of China's wealth will vanish. Rationally, there is no reason to do that. Also, the US debt/gdp ratio is about 100% - which is lower than it was in 1945. There is still room to expand without too much cause for alarm, however with the current administration I have my doubts. 2012 can't come soon enough.

China > America
Everything you said is basically incorrect. Uh...? Hmm...? So do us a favor and go through point by point, providing counter examples. I'll help you out: 1. China is not economically dependent on the US because of ________________. 2. China's population controls help their economy and allow it to run smoother because of _________________. 3. The US doesn't have a serious debt problem since _______________ and also ________________.

How Would You Detect Bots?
Jagex stated a year or more ago that ideally the game would be half skilling, and half quests. This would take care of botting - the players actually playing runescape as it was intended won't have to worry about too much of a grindfest, the players grinding runescape can grind it to their heart's desire and ignore the content they never use (as people do already), and the bots will be left behind, as neither player in those two groups would need of their services (as of right now, the player that wants to do all quests can't because of level requirements may look to other methods of obtaining fast levels).

How Would You Detect Bots?
1. The NSA does more than just R&D. In fact, I would guess that they contract most of their R&D out. 2. Total Budget != R&D Budget. NSA is similar to the military, and I'm pretty sure part of the branch is tightly related to military operation. Also do you have top secret clearance? You don't? me neither. My friend does, but he still has no clue what the NSA spends their money on. So go ahead and estimate their net budget. It doesn't really grant any you compelling argument. What you said is there is absolutely no way that millions to billions of dollars have been spent on developing these algorithms, and you're wrong. Even if the ONLY place to ever develop these algorithms was the NSA, and they ONLY spent 1/1000th of their budget on developing data security LAST YEAR ALONE, and their budget last year was on the low estimate of 2 billion dollars, that still puts it at 2 million dollars spent last year alone. You're wrong, you're being stubborn, and you're making a bit of an ass out of yourself. I'm not reading your professors website, you linking me to it doesn't prove that you've read it, or that you've paid any attention in class. Also, learning about the implementation of AES isn't very pertinent to learning the history of encryption, is it? Also, developing codes for use in war is the EXACT SAME THING as using an algorithm to obscure data. Looking through a telescope at the stars isn't the EXACT SAME THING as sending a robot to mars. To put it your way, You can't have it both ways. Data security can't be cheap to develop and be incredibly complex. Don't worry, you've already lost your credibility with me.

How Would You Detect Bots?
This is flat out wrong. The NSA alone, dedicated to this sort of thing, has a budget of somewhere between 2-10 billion dollars a year. They (Governments, Companies, Academia, etc.) have been working these specific algorithms for nearly 4 decades now (DES started in 1972, and was the precursor to many more algorithms), and countries/nations/empires have been working on encryption/decryption and code breaking for thousands of years. L2History. If you can't see the parallels between the two, let me spell them out: 1.There will always be people looking to break data encryption, just as there will always be people looking to beat Jagex's macro detection system 2.People looking to break data encryption already know everything about what they're trying to break (how the algorithm works, where its weak points may be), similar to everyone trying to write macro software can de-compile Jagex's client and examine the source code. 3. Once an algorithm has been beat, using it provides little to no protection. Once an anti-macro feature has been beat, using it does no good. These are all still beside the original point I was trying to make:
