What time period does RS most closely resemble?
Exactly, no one seems to think about the fact that the actual world is only influenced by humans, while in runescape each race is at different tech eras. So take out the gliders, cannons, coal trucks, and whatnot (all non-human things), and you'll see the humans in runescape are actually quite primitive. To put a date, it would be around 500-1000 AD, seeing that the most advanced thing the Humans have is running water. On the other hand, the dwarves have everything from blast furnaces to fully automatic repeating-cannons. They would be somewhere between the 1700's to 1900's. Gnomes would be 1200-1500s, Elves around the same as Humans, and Trolls and Ogres in the Triassic period. The humans have cannons, you just can't use them. They are, as I said earlier, around late 1400s to early 1500s (early Renaissance). Also, their conventional weaponry is far more advanced than in the 500-1000 era. Longbows and plate armor didn't appear until the 1200s, and crossbows the 1300s. I would place the dwarves at the late 1600s. Also, I haven't seen anyone try to determine Runescape's time period politically. During the Middle Ages, most of Europe was using the feudal system. Feudalism ended in the 1400s. It is clear that the feudal system is not in use in Runescape, as the only sign of it is Draynor Manor, which is abandoned. I forgot about those cannons sitting on the walls. Maybe around the 1200's-1300's then. As for plate armor, it existed back in Ancient Greece and Rome. Longbows were ancient design too, just got popularized by the English Longbowmen. But crossbows were medieval, so it may be a marker for the time period of runescape. Actually, there are traces of feudalism. Lumbridge is a "vassal" of Varrok (i read that somewhere), and there are various classes of the npc's (farmers, knights, duke, king, etc). Duke Horacio seems to be more of a governor rather than a noble. The plate armor in Runescape is of a design that dates to the 1200s.

What time period does RS most closely resemble?
*I suppose that makes a big difference? **??? ***You find the time period by comparing Runescape's technology, culture, and philosophy among other things with time periods in real life. Magic, dragons, and other made-up things don't affect it. ****Way back then (in real life), a lot of different civilizations appeared to be in different time periods. You people are too literal. I'm asking you for what time period RS most closely resembles, not a completely accurate and specific date. There's a lot of technology that shouldn't have existed back then, but just ignore them.
- Rememeber When?

Favorite Barrows Set and Why?
Torag's, because it actually has the best defence bonus and because it's cheap.

What time period does RS most closely resemble?
It's set in the year 169 of the 5th age. It says so in the Manual.

What time period does RS most closely resemble?
Obviously, the dwarves and humans are set in different time periods. How about you just put a date for each of them and ignore the unreasonably modern aspects of the game (hot air balloons, holiday events)?

What time period does RS most closely resemble?
How can you be more precise? You're asking something nobody knows, they can just post their guesses :-s. Well, since you don't know, I won't ask anything of you. I think that it takes place in the late 1400s to early 1500s.

What time period does RS most closely resemble?
I want something more precise.

What time period does RS most closely resemble?
I saw this topic in the Official Forums some time ago. What year do you think Runescape takes place in? This is NOT about how old the actual game is. I'll post what I think once I get some opinions.

A Tale from the Library (The Author is IN the House)
I want to be in it, too. I'll be wearing plain clothes, a yellow beret, and a bright red cape. I'll be writing, but occasionaly getting distracted from my work and (insert action here). For reference, I'm male.

computer games stole my son
Runescape is not addictive in the way drugs are addictive; the kid's just making excuses.

Dirge: The Remake-Chapters 2-6 Are Up!
It's great. I have yet to read the whole thing... EDIT: I love it, but it's a bit hard to follow. You should describe in more detail the people whom Siegfried/Ren met in the "center of the massacre". What about the italicized section in Part 4? What's up with that?
- Grrr - I was unfairly muted/banned!

Customized weapon? Should it be done?
Yeah, it should definitely be untradable or else rich people would buy loads of upgrades for their weapons.

Ruining Runescape 1 day at a time :/
For the statements I have bolded to come true, Jagex would had to have lost substantial amounts of money due to the autoer problem, which they have not. The only money that Jagex has lost is from the players that quit due to the bot problem. Quite a few players have done so, but not nearly enough to reverse the game's growth.

Is misspelling of words a crime in RuneScape?
Totally agree with you. Leetspeak does not benefit you in any way, it just makes it harder for the people you're conversing with.

I've been playing since '05, but this is getting off-topic.

All jokes and such here please!
Bob was at the Air force base, learning how to parachute. "Sir, how much time would I have to deploy the reserve chute if the main one fails?" he asked. The captain replied, "The rest of your life"

Is magic too weak??
It's not too weak, just too expensive. The spells that are economic enough to train on, such as Magic Dart, only hit in the teens. That's a lot of damage, but it's nothing compared to what meleers hit, yet it's still more costly.
