    Today...

God damn it I forgot to turn on the WiFi on my phone earlier after briefly turning it off and I accidentally used a shit ton of data watching YouTube videos and stuff. Welp.

vaping is so dumb. in theory it's really not bad at all but everyone i see vaping in public is some huge [wagon] blowing clouds of [bleep]ing cotton candy shit into the realm of multiple pedestrians, or some fedora-clad guy with a goatee doing it inside a building or something.
  3. well there's definitely hope for improvement, it's just going to take 2 or 3 months or so to heal i'd assume. we're both still happy overall, it's more of this extended yet temporary thing that's kind of put a damper on stuff. neither of us have any intention to break up, it's more of a matter of how to make things easier during this period of time.
  4. So my girlfriend and I are going pretty steady now. We exchanged "i love you"s for the first time 2 or 3 weeks or so ago and seem to be a great match for each other. we talk about the future a lot, and can envision each other living together and being with each other for quite a while. we're both really happy with each other. there's one problem that kind of gets us both down about the relationship however, and that's the fact that she had a back and neck injury a few months ago that has turned out to be relatively serious. because of this, she simply doesn't have the energy or physical capability to do much. she just has to lie down and ice her back and rest a lot, which of course is completely understandable because it's what she needs to do to heal. this is unfortunate for both of us, for her obviously because she's always in a lot of pain, but also because she feels guilty for me being in a relationship with someone who can't really do too much sustained activity of any sort. and it does sort of suck on my end. she's expressed sadness over that, saying stuff like how she thinks i could be better off spending time with some non-injured girl. i love spending time with her, but sitting around inside watching netflix before her shortly falling asleep while i'm lying there bored isn't exactly my idea of fun. this is also affecting our sex life in the sense that, naturally, she's both a lot less enthusiastic and capable of sex than she used to be. again, this is perfectly understandable, it's just a bit frustrating since her "needs" are not in alignment with my own. i think this is also coinciding a bit with us gradually starting to fall out of the honeymoon phase. she's been going to a chiropractor, which doesn't seem to really be doing all that much. she's finally getting an MRI soon since she showed no significant healing over time, so that should probably give a better idea as to when this'll all start to clear up hopefully. i guess this is just a mix of me ranting and asking for advice. we both want to spend the same amount of time together and stuff, but the current situation just leaves the two of us a bit frustrated and wishing things were more fun.
  5. An undercut is simply short on the sides and longer on top. It's a pretty classic haircut that has been around for decades. It's just particularly trendy now (well, more like 3 years ago honestly). It's really not a mullet equivalent, a more recent equivalent of that would be the topknot. And I always think the argument about cringing at one's old photos because of a particular style is stupid anyways. You're just judging yourself against a different time period's standards. Chances are if you're cringing now, you looked cool back then.

Woo! After a surprisingly tough 25/30 minute interview with a couple grad students, I got a position as an undergrad research assistant for a really interesting psych lab that deals with the idea of people disclosing vulnerable information as a means of generating interpersonal closeness. Not sure exactly what I'll be doing, but I've been told I'll be running subjects and coding video and stuff. It sounds like it'll be a challenge, but I think it'll be really rewarding.

I went to Vancouver a few days ago which was a lot of fun. Having coins for $1 and $2 denominations was interesting. It was also funny being able to go in bars (where we virtually never got carded, nor did we in liquor stores. guess that's a lot more lax there in canada than in the US). however, i started feeling really shitty on the last day of the trip after having blamed my general fatigue the prior few days on lack of sleep, lots of walking, etc. after a couple days of barely being able to leave bed, i made it to the doctor where i took a blood test which came up positive for Mono. so that explains that. now i'm just very tired and have a bad sore throat. time to wait this out over the course of a few weeks :/

Oh yeah, I'll definitely go to some bars. I'm 20 and haven't been to an actual bar yet so it'll be cool.

Any of you Canadian folk (or anyone) wanna give me some recommendations for things to do in Vancouver, BC? I'm gonna visit there for the first time for three days in early september with my girlfriend and we don't really have any idea what we wanna do yet. Also looks like I'm heading to Portland with a friend in less than a couple weeks for 2 days at Musicfest NW. Stoked to see Title Fight and Danny Brown for a second time each, plus lots of other bands that I don't know much about but I'm interested in seeing.
  11. haha it was just because i lost my phone over the weekend so she just DMed me that on instagram and was saying that it'd be easier to talk over the phone, which is not something i currently have. should be fixed by tomorrow though. [bleep] virgin mobile.
  12. so over the weekend I saw the girl I've been seeing as I visited Seattle with a couple friends. we stayed at her place. we had last left off together with things kind of in a gray area as to where we stood in terms of exclusivity and seriousness and such, but it seemed that things were left on a positive note. so we had a couple pretty long discussions over the weekend about where everything stood. interestingly, we seemed pretty much in opposite places as to where we wanted to see things going. I told her that I didn't like the gray area we were in between exclusivity and an open relationship - I wanted either a commitment or for things to be more casual than they are. I dont really feel comfortable with the area in between, where it's generally accepted that we're mostly going to only see each other but there's that aspect of "well ya never know!". we both agreed that we'd basically be upset if the other person started seeing other people, but she still likes this type of relationship with consistency yet not too serious of a commitment. the specifics never exactly got resolved, but I at least ended up more comfortable with knowing that she took what was between us more seriously that I thought she did in the first place. after I left she had sent me a message saying she had been thinking about our talks and seemed to be agreeing with me more in terms of seeing the benefits of being out of this gray area. she said it'd probably be easier to discuss over the phone, so I'll probably end up talking with her soon. it'll be interesting to see what comes of this, so to be continued for the time being....

nope :/ I coulda sworn I had it hooked up to iCloud which would've made it possible to track via find my iPhone, but apparently I only ever set that up with an old iPod touch and not my iPhone. it has a passcode on it so I'm not too concerned about them trying to get personal information or whatever if someone even has it, I've kept calling it and it goes straight to voicemail anyways. I'm just assuming it got crushed in the crowd.

had an extremely busy, tiring, expensive, but ultimately fantastic weekend trip over to seattle for cap hill block party. i finally saw one of my favorite bands, diiv, and later saw zach cole smith and his girlfriend (and famous musician/model) sky ferreira just hanging out at the fest so i talked to cole and took a picture. i'm still pretty starstruck. the low point of the weekend though was losing my [bleep]ing iphone during flatbush zombies. their set was insane and everyone was going [bleep]ing crazy, so i handed my friend my stuff cuz i was gonna crowd surf aaand sure enough my phone was to never be seen again. i'm mostly just really upset because i'm a [bleep]ing idiot and apparently i never backed anything up to iCloud, so i lost over 1,000 pictures from the past year, not to mention all my contacts and notes and stuff. ohhhhhhh wellllll agghhhh

[bleep] that. And to make it even more fun, I have to go back in again today for an afternoon shift. Then another 5:30 shift tomorrow that I gotta wake up for at 4. BUT i'm going to capitol hill block party this weekend so i'm stoked. particularly excited to see DIIV, flatbush zombies, deafheaven, jamie xx, and father john misty. Solid lineup. I'm not all that big on flatbush zombies, I think they have huge potential but really need to work on a more interesting style of delivery. That said, I'd definitely see them live if I was already there. Everyone else on that list is great. The only time I got to see deafheaven was pre sunbather and honestly they were garbage. It was probably the crowd, they were the opening band for Loma Prieta and Converge and no one was too into it since there was still 3 hours of concert after them. Everyone I know who's seen them since Sunbather came out have said they're awesome live so that's good. Yeah I haven't listened to anything of Deafheaven's except Sunbather, which I definitely enjoyed. I can imagine it might all get a bit same-y sounding after a while though since it's a 45 minute set (not too long, but still, it's a summer block party lol). Interesting that you aren't big on Flatbush because of their delivery, I think that having 3 different rappers in the group adds really good variety to their delivery. Juice is definitely the standout though, I think Meechy and Erick are just very alright. All this being said, I haven't really listened to any of their newer stuff at all, so maybe what I'm saying doesn't apply to that. Oh yeah, also stoked for Unknown Mortal Orchestra and BADBADNOTGOOD. Will check out Shabazz Palaces too but they're 2deep4me i think

got the cops called on me and my friend last night for lighting off fireworks lol. we got off with a warning which was super super lucky because theyre totally illegal here and theres a lot of fire danger rn. we almost got a trespassing charge though which was kinda bs but whatever. we had a bunch of water with us and we were only setting off relatively small ones. one of the cops was taking the situation way too seriously and accused me of trying to run away because he saw me running around jumping over a firework when he drove up lol, the other cop was cooler tho. really the saddest part about it was that we got like 30 dollars of fireworks taken from us.
  20. lol why were you disgusted by american beauty? that's one of my fave movies
