Monday Poll: Official "How do you like summoning" poll
dark1wraith replied to MPM's topic in General Discussion
Ok, so summoning was very hyped for a while so it sounded good. I held my judgment. I was happy that they were making a new quest too. First thing i did was read the summoning familiars and pets sections. I was all "awesome" they looked great and they had ability's that seemed useful but i read on. i saw the xp for summoning and i thought huh? how do we train it then? must be a typo. but then there was pouches. what a horrible idea! :wall: This is what people have been waiting for? I'm glad I'm a non-member and i am not coming back to members for summoning if at all. I asked my friends about it and they all said it was expencive. but then i read the runescape forums and there were estimates of about 200mil to get to 99 just in shards (this was before the "balancing"). we don't need another skill that costs money! Has Jajex not learned from their past skills? it seems as if they added the worst parts of many of them. the slow training of farming/runecrafting, the tediousness of runecrafting (runecrafters sorry i still love runecrafting) the lack of xp for actully using the skill like prayer, the extreme cost like construction and a new one: the inability to gather your own resources i.e. shards. I really wanted this skill to be good. I hope they make dramatic changes to it. I think for starters they should make it even more hunter based. i expected the things i summoned to be from materials gathered from hunter, as they said in the development diary that it would be to hunter as mining is to smithing. Did they lie to us? or are they just incredibly stupid? How much money do they think we make anyway that spending 200mil is justified? i have never nor will ever see that much and i'm lvl 91! i can't see how using them to train will be cost effective. I dearly hope i am wrong. My suggestion? stay at lvl 4 after the quest, get a puppy and enjoy the best part of summoning, the fact that you don't have to do it. P.s. first page woot Edit: i will henceforth refer to summoning as pouching -
Shadow_Clawe thanks for clarifying what i said. However i doubt i will be able to enough money from drops to justify the use of summoning. Hopefully they will change the skill. To the locations section when it is made: add not only places to train, but places you are not allowed to summon. Also a uses section, like what was done with lunar magic might be usefull. I would like to say i am impressed with the speed at which this guide was made and i love tip.it guides. In most cases they are better than those of the official runescape site. keep up the good work.

[hide=summarised]good so far. don't put anything up about spirt weed/seeds yet as there seems to be a glitch where you can't farm them Jajex states that the money you save from using summoning is equal to the cost. what a joke. still you might include ways of making cash in the final version.[/hide]

halestone48 is right, rune running is pretty much over. It's still possible with the assist system but it's limited to the 30k xp. wheather or not this is a good thing is not my place to say as i never used it and got to at least lvl 54 rc on ftp then lvl 60 on ptp but another thing they could change in the activity section is trade. the grand exchange goes through all worlds so there is no use for trade worlds anymore. this proves that activities which used to involve people working together have been taken away creating soloscape. I still find ways to help out people, without giving them stuff. Got any question? need to know where something is? i'm your man.

No, they really haven't. Anyone with the knowledge and half a brain knows that revenants can easily be stopped by trees. TREES, for God's sake. Not only does that work on every monster (then I guess there never was danger against any monsters period) but Pkers with ranged attacks could be stopped the same way, and are stuck for crucial seconds. If your target was halfway between you and the edge of the mini-map, you have no chance of catching up with them to cast Entangle unless they ran out of energy. And notice, I said it brings it CLOSER, not COMPLETELY FINISHES making the Wilderness dangerous. Good PKers learn with time that the way to avoid being stuck on obstacles when pursuing a target is to disengage from the target whilst bringing the option to attack them up in queue by right-clicking on the target such that you are running in the direction of your target but not attacking them. This prevents you from being stuck behind a tree. So while you miss a couple of attacks, it leaves you open to continue your assault. Yes, I have been *stuck* behind trees before, but I could generally use this strategy to avoid such a situation. Revenants, on the other hand, remain constantly stuck behind trees and make absolutely no attempt to correct themselves. So which is more dangerous, a slow-moving enemy that can hit 30 but doesn't know how to negotiate obstacles, or an enemy that hits 16 but can move around anything you try to throw at them and runs just as fast as you? Most F2P players are apparently just so scared of the revenants' max hits that they just try to run without thinking of how to use their surroundings to their advantage. They also apparently forget to bring food and charge their prayer before entering. It's a little ridiculous, if you ask me. rolls eyes

the former causes the latter as well.

I'd like to start off by stating i loved both articles and both were well written. That said i myself am not a fan of clans, to me the only purpose to be in one would be pking, but bounty hunter is lame. You can have experiences with people, and have friends without being in a clan. to me it seems like such a unnatural way to interact with others. I am not in a clan and i have only been in one which consisted solely of my friends in which we would basically do nothing other than idle banter. (besides i like to think of myself as a individual not one of many) the people i meet and talk to i have meet randomly as i was working on my skills or standing around in verrock. on the other hand clans such as the one tip.it has are great because they organize events that are fun to go to. also it creates a community in which people work together instead of fighting amongst each other. the thing is clans will most likely (if they haven't already) be destroyed by the inability to actually work together as a community through giving things to it's members as for the second article i think das says it best Jajex now has something in common with governments run by tyrants. but we have to ask our selfs, whats worse here, the disease or the cure? I mean i reallly hated macros, still do. those stupid things made woodcutting impossible got away with disobeying the rules omg! HATE  HATE  HATE!!!! um..where was i? oh yeah. but the new way runescape is set up is just ridiculous. far worse than anything a macro ever did. To be honest i wasn't much of a pker and i never merchanted. but that doesn't mean i don't feel bad for people who enjoyed those things. And the updates don't only effect them, they effect every single player. things that used to be done in the wild are now impossible because of revenats (is that how you spell it? oh who cares they are lame). The economy is way down because of the grand exchange, and no ability to have other markets. and the assist system was the worst of all for me. why bother training a skill if you can get someone else to lend you their skill that they worked for, not you. it may have not changed much as players could already trade raw materials for products but what it did change was perspective. It became much easier to do this, when before it was risky and i would rather make something myself than take that risk. now i would rather use someones elses skills and thus assist introduced a new form of begging. Especially now that you cannot give people things you have made. I enjoyed giveing new players full steel. it made me feel good to give. Queltar makes a good point, however, in his article "Maybe It̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s Not About the Money?" about why to train skills. Dang he's smart. Some of you may say that the update is good because people won't be begging. I haven't noticed a decrease in begging only the amount people beg for. furthermore if someone asked for something i would never give anything to them. if i gave a gift it was because i wanted to. the assist system pretty much requires them to ask. These updates do not in any way replace what was lost. All the updates to stop unbalanced trade are horrific atrocities to what was once a great game. These are sad days in runescapes history  i agree with Turtlefemm Why do i continue to play? because i shouldn't have to stop playing the game i loved because of stupid jajex

Bounty Hunter That Uterrly Worthless Substitute for Pking
dark1wraith replied to chi13's topic in Rants
i have a suggestion though, bring back the ability to attack people in the wild, so at least if they call you a noob you can beat them down. Just don't make people lose thier items if they die to another player, then there is no trading. perhaps this wouldn't work, but it would make the wild even more dangerous, as you could be killing things then all of a sudden someone comes, kills you and you end up at your respawn point and have to go back. i have had people kill me for no items, even when i told them i had no items and didn't fight back, so i am sure people would attack. then we could get rid of some or all of the revenants this is just an idea and i don't know if it would work -
Bounty Hunter That Uterrly Worthless Substitute for Pking
dark1wraith replied to chi13's topic in Rants
Does everyone in this rant hate skillers?! you know this crummy update hurt skillers too. now skillers can't sell supplies to pkers, so they are worth less no more green dragons cuz revenants are overpowered. and don't get me started on the rune rocks... The worst thing of all though is that i had planned on getting ancient magic then start pking but this update came first. now i doubt i'll even bother getting anchients or even ever becoming a member again. This is no replacement for pking. -
I thought you couldn't use that fairy ring unless you unlocked the abyss from the zamorack mage. someone should really include that in the unlock abyss guide... now if only there was an uber sized pouch...
-
Well i haven't come across any revenants except imps but thats because i haven't gone in the wild since the update and i don't plan on changing that. it's a good thing i got my ghost robes before the update. However, as a lvl 72 crafter this is annoying for me because now i can't make green dragon hide armor without buying the hides and the hides cost more than the armor now! also there is a tip it event at clan wars won't be going to because of these dern revenants! Why couldn't they have made access to clan wars and bounty hunter without going through revenants? on the other hand i like the way Locutus_Of_Borg puts it: no mercy for the weak

doom crusher good list- but please don't post it again for a while (that means like a day or 2) as it is taking up major space. (erm..no offense) Correct me if i am wrong but the big high war god is Brandos, as the goblin mace protects you from his followers in the god dungeon. Also technically all books but the elemental workshop ones are useless, beyond their entertainment value. Elemental workshop ones allow you to make shields and helms. -not that i don't enjoy some of those books.

please ignore this post

I totally forgot about that. It's less than useless because, like burnt food, a useful item turns useless and fills up your inventory. In my opinion burnt food is still more annoying though because people clutter the ground with it, and just when you think someone dropped something useful it's a burnt monkfish

Beggar noobs!!! oh wait... an item, not a person? burnt food! It is used in one quest: witch's potion, thats it oh wait it does serve a purpose, to fill up peoples inventory with useless items!!! :wall: :wall: :wall: burnt food is waaaay more useless than tiles plus it was once useful uncooked food p.s. does uncooked food have any use but cooking?
