  1. Great balance of stuff this month. Low level quest (but rewards could be good - never know when they're not stated in BTS) Mid level minigame (great trio of skills to pick, fewer players have that trio than most other sets and herblore needed another free training method) High level dungeoneering update Great bugfixes for everyone
  2. Yes, you can totally get 200m Agility from just shortcuts...lol..... I interpreted it as waiting as long as possible to rack up a few hundred thousand experience from shortcuts before maxing the skill, not getting 200 solely off them. Realistically you could train to 199.9m or so and still have the rest to do after maxing the rest.
  3. With new weapons, berserker rings, increased knowledge, general bugfixes/removing ML, floors are much faster than they used to be. What used to be a lucky map is now an average and some truly wicked times are possible. But yes, 15 minutes is epic :ohnoes: A good way to split it up would be a < 15 minute video of the dungeon up to the boss and then a separate video of clearing the rest/doing the boss. bosses only take 1 minute of the dung (l2 rambo with hexhunter) Clearing up to half the map (the rest) takes a bit longer than 1 min :P By clearing the rest/doing the boss I meant that you do both at once. No need to follow the keyer when there are only key doors left. Split up and have 3-4 bossers

  5. I'm more than sure(actually, adamant) that jagex could never or would never write guide that would give good information on how to get the best experience out of dungeoneering- the skill is just too diverse for even the players to figure this out with any ease(if anyone tells you doing X is very best for dungeoneering xp, they are more than likely wrong). I do think they give more than enough information(atleast for me, but i'm smart enough to read trough the skill guide before trying it out) on how prestige works and when you should reset. It's always a great idea to check tip.it/runewiki general guide on dungeoneering before starting, which is another thing I did. To play the role of an obnoxious high-minded jmod, it's important that good information be given ingame (especially since the Knowledge Base isn't great and not everyone regularly visits fansites). To make sure it's as widely accessed as possible, it's important that people learn by doing while being guided towards at least a basic strategy. Perhaps you don't really care how many people are competent at dungeoneering since only a small subset is at your level (and an even smaller subset at mine) but the success of dungeoneering as a skill affects everyone. I do agree that there are various strategies to earn exp; I mainly meant that they should explain very clearly when to reset. An allusion to the fact that lower complexity floors take less time and that doing only your higher floors on c6 would help as well. From what I see of Chris L's posts, at least a couple people at Jagex know how to dungeoneer what we would call "efficiently" - hopefully these would be the ones doing this if it was ever implemented
  6. Jagex giving us tips on what to do? Isn't that what we don't need...? I'm fairly sure jagex'es advice would be to do everything on c6 and to kill every monster, use their auto-match system for teams(which is terrible). The prestige system is more than easy to figure out with the tips you get right now(on rskb and in game)- if you can't do it on your own, you propably shouldn't be training the skill. If they thought Summoning was complicated enough to warrant a tutorial, then dungeoneering definitely needed one. The dungeoneering tutor isn't very helpful at all. Perhaps Jagex has revamped their handholding policy, but Wolf Whistle seems strangely out of place without a dungeoneering equivalent. The most common question I see every low level asking is how to get the best experience and when to reset. Yes, everyone now at a high level understands it perfectly, but there is no comprehensive explanation ingame. Again, depends on how much handholding is intended, but ingame explanations are usually the clearest. And while your cynicism at Jagex's cluelessness was appreciated (I enjoyed it at least), as long as Mod Chris L writes it we should be fine (though finishing dungeoneering updates should be a priority).
  7. Tbh dungeoneering needs a short quest tutorial like summoning has explaining the prestige system and on top of that an extension quest on all the little tips and tricks you pick up later
  8. The only places an autogrouping system works generally fall into two categories: -Individual performance is more important than team performance (Stealing Creation) -Teams are too large to matter and are limited based on strength (Cwars, Soul Wars) Autogrouping will never work for dungeoneering or Barbarian Assault. These things are complicated enough to warrant handpicking teammates. In dungeoneering, teams are small enough so that everyone needs to be on the same page about bound items and strategy. The majority of dungeoneers are very inexperienced, have sub-par bound items, and are clueless about the fastest way to complete a dungeon and the best ways to preserve food. In Barbarian Assault, roles are simply too important to be ignored in making teams.
  9. Get level 5 healer or defender. Attacker and Collector don't really require ranks to be adequate, and you will be much more appealing to many teams. Just get the Penance Master Horn.
  10. Claws are about 1/300 and with your stats you'd struggle to get 15 kills/hour.
  11. Lots of clicking with no mousekeys or screenmarkers. Oak doors 74-94, mahogany tables 94-99. No SC hammers used, total cost probably over 100m but didn't track. Next goals are finish effigy stats, ie 91 runecrafting, 91/93 mining, 93 thieving. After that I'll probably get 99 smithing and slayer. I won't be getting 99 firemaking or woodcutting, I'd just be getting a lot of wasted exp from effigies. I really do want to max, but Warped floors might make me turn back to dung :o We'll see.
  12. No, you need to bind the actual amount you want. @Original poster: arrows are fine to bind when you get access to Occult Floors and must range Necrolord, but most people just buy Fractite Arrows which work fine on him. A lot of others, myself included, bind law runes. Since you can no longer alch arrows, they reduce cash needs at the beginning of a floor, and speed up c1s. Cosmics are a possible bind, but for very complicated reasons, and laws are far more practical. 2h is a fine weapon (get Berserker ring up to a decent tier). If you ever see a Shadow Silk Hood drop, you should bind that instead of a platebody, and rebind the platebody at level 100. As for worlds, I would stick with 77 or go with friends until you get to level 80 or so. Once you get an 8 as the first digit of your dungeoneering level, many more people will take you in teams, especially if you have a hood.
  13. Generally Abyssal Demons go down in 3-5 hits of a chaotic rapier. They definitely have more defence than dust devils or greater demons, but don't even come close to the metal dragons in terms of accuracy against them. If you don't have a chaotic weapon, whip works fine; bring the best potions you can and repot at normal intervals; use a defender over DFS, but remember to bring some sort of dragonfire protection for Kuradal's dungeon if you are using the shortcuts, I've died trying to run with pray mage lol.
  14. Heh you went a long way for a simple result; you can calculate 11250 extra RC exp by simply dividing the total bonus exp from the effigy by the number of skill pairs: 90k/8 = 11250. More realistic numbers for long-term averages: TDs drop one effigy every 100 minutes = 35.6k runecraft exp/hr Compare this to 55k/hr at ZMI = 65% of the ZMI exp So is 35% less exp worth the other 75k exp in various skills, some easy and some hard? It's closer than you would expect...I think runecrafting will be the last skill on nearly everyone's list and new skill training methods or nerfs will change the answer to this question over time.
  15. Since it appears you need someone to bite in order to elaborate, I'll be the sacrificial lamb. What game mechanic did you rediscover? well if you piece it together a bit you should be able to figure it out...."100k rc xp + 150k other xp in hard skills" its not consistent but it averages that over a large interval im sure you can figure out what it involves If I wanted to play with riddles, I'd talk to an ingame NPC. Jesus, this is like the first week of summoning when everyone was being uptight about where they were getting charms. Still, you seem to be referring to something that gives a large, set chunk of exp, which would namely be effigies. At 99 rc, each effigy is 90k noncombat exp and 48029 rc exp, or 59,279 RC exp and 78750 exp in other hard skills. I guess that's around 100k rc exp and 150k other exp if you're averaging 2 effigies per hour, but I'm not sure what you're doing to get that many effigies per hour, unless it's some halfkilling trick with TDs... If it's not effigies, I really cba to play any more guessing games and I'll just dismiss it as a ridiculously theoretical method. If you want people to credit you for coming up with something, you're going to have to give a few more clues, or if it's supposed to remain secret so it can be abused as long as possible, just don't post at all... I'm not attempting to flame you, but I'm just a little annoyed by the vague proclamation and the same type of response when I tried to say this in less words.
  16. What we need to do is extend an RSS feed of adventurer logs being compiled to include effigies. Since we know the approximate droprates of the main drops of many monsters, we can figure out the effigy droprate from ratios. Eg there were 1323 whip drop entries and 637 effigy drop entries for Abyssal Demons. Knowing that an Abyssal Whip is dropped every 512 demons on average, we can say that the approximate droprate of an effigy from abbies is 1:1000-1100. Staff of light was said to have the same droprate as a whip, and I suspect Dark Bows share the rate even though a Jmod has never confirmed those. However, that's 3 slayer monsters right there. Monsters like dragons that don't have a lot of drops go on A-log and whose droprates are quite unknown will be harder.
  17. Chance of getting a boost of at least: +5...9% +4...18% +3...27% +2...36% +1...45% The chances double from 5 levels to 4 levels, so I would just try to get at least level 81.
  18. Since it appears you need someone to bite in order to elaborate, I'll be the sacrificial lamb. What game mechanic did you rediscover?
  19. The answer to the last sentence is that I never did any calculations involving overload efficiency. I just got 99 herblore making as many overloads as I could reasonably do and figured I'd decide what to do with them later. There really isn't a single calculation you can do to figure it out. I have 8752 overload doses lasting 43760 minutes or 729 hours. That is rather a lot, but with a conservative estimate of 35k exp/hour for Slayer, 180 of those hours go down the drain, so call it 550 hours. Those would be split between TDs, Frost Dragons, and any new bosses that come out. 550 hours is a lot, sure. I'm still not sold on how much Overloads help over extremes, but an accumulation of small bonuses is always good if you have the means to keep supplying it. Further, if I needed more overloads, I could just make another 1.5k extreme defence, 3k range, and 3k magic to go with the extremes I already have, which isn't *too* much effort for a lot of time saved compared to just trying to use those extremes and never make any more potions. In other words, the extra extremes I made aren't necessarily worthless. So I guess that unless a new boss comes out I'll be fine. Extreme prayers, on the other hand, are a different story. I made 1200 on the way to 99 herblore and will probably never make any more considering how long it takes to grind the wyvern bones. I haven't used any yet and probably will only use them on TDs or a new boss. Or do you see it differently?
  20. They're faster than ivy, not sure about teaks, but certainly a viable way to get FM exp with the adze and keep it semi-afk. You can cut the logs and store them all at once afterwards without going to the bank, but this cuts down on exp.
  21. If I repotted at 120, I'd be losing only a couple melee points for a MUCH cheaper cost (I usually just wait til 118 or so). I want to save my overloads for TDs and Frost Dragons and bosses. I do have 2.6k, but I do NOT want to run out. I made extra extreme att/str just for Slayer and I personally see them as practically free while overloads are precious. If you have any other thoughts on extremes vs overloads, I'd be happy to hear them.
  22. My personal list, while slaying for fast xp/effigies. Do you get enough points to cover doing about 10 tasks? Also, @bedman, thanks for the terrific response. What Zarfot is doing isn't necessarily what's best for me because I don't care a single bit about Summoning experience, while he needs to do Waterfiends and Wyverns to make sure he can get 200m summoning without picking up golds or whatever he does. I had a task of Blue Dragons yesterday and I cannoned them in the Resource Dungeon. It is quite fast, I set up the cannon in the very southwest corner and went around killing 4-5 dragons, 3-4 of which are mauled by cannon. It's quite a fast task, and since each kill is still worth 5.3k or so, the bone exp is fantastic. Also, the effigy droprate is about 1 in 669 which is a decent rate compared to some other tasks. 1 in 1400-1500 is just an appalling effigy droprate for Nechryael. I won't be doing them anymore, but I'm still undecided on Abyssal Demons. I did a task last night and got decent experience plus some nice minor drops.
  23. Crafting: battlestaves for cheap exp, cutting gems or dhide bodies for fastest exp. Anythings good really, depends on how much cash you have to work with. Fletching: haven't done since 2007, so can't accurately comment, sorry Thieving: best is to do blackjacking til 91 then PP onwards, but blackjacking is pretty boring and click intensive, so give it a quick try and if it's not for you then just PP Hunter: got 99 in this skill a few months after it was released, I think the one-spawn red chinchompa method is good, as are barehanded catching butterflies Farming: buy trees, no way around it really. 1 run a day of maples/yews and papayas/palms with calquats will net you 94 quickly. Fishing, just do whatever til 90 (Barb fish if you can stand it, or Shilo or monkfish) then fish rocktail (AFK) or barbarian powerfishing. Skeletal Horror has a 1/20 chance of dropping elite clue, but that's not great (especially since elite clues give crappy rewards) and the other exp isn't worth it. Phoenix isn't worth it. I'd also say Bork isn't worth it unless you have 99 slayer because summoning will come through slayer naturally and you don't need charms past 99. You should use effigies in RC because it is the slowest skill to train (barring Slayer, which produces effigies to boost its exp rate) and because you hate training it as well. However, I'd try to ZMI to 77-80 first because you won't get much for each effigy at your current level and that amount of exp isn't too severe. Dungeoneering rings: if you are ranging, use a Desperado class ring. The others aren't quite as useful.
  24. Thanks a lot! Yes, I did forget mages o.O and yes I am cancelling them I'm still quite undecided about Abyssal Demons. I think I'm closer to doing abbies and skipping nechs. I'll start doing Terror Dogs based on feedback. Tzhaar - the big question mark! And also, I already have 5 blocks and enough points to cancel continuously.
  25. I did spend 250m on 99 summoning by barraging...lots of wasted charms. But then, I did only spend 100m on prayer back in the day, so I guess it evens out :P -Dust Devils drop too few effigies for me to do. However, I will time a task of Nechryaels to see whether the mediocre effigies are worth it. -I prefer not to do Jad tasks, so I would be considering killing Tzhaar in the city, just waiting for an accurate effigy count. -Waterfiends are one of my least favorite tasks since at the moment they are my second most common task behind Dark Beasts. I just went ahead and blocked them right now. The effigies aren't amazing, experience is slower than nechs, and they don't make very much profit. -I mainly put wyverns on there because they have a surprisingly low effigy droprate. The data I have access to is only 2 effigies in a little over 3000 kills, and without that appeal, the bones don't make up for the speed. (I would definitely do them if I wasn't 99 summoning though) @nman: I do cannon the mutated velds.
