Only mods have that turned off. Everyone has to wait 45 seconds before posting twice. You can get around it with a slow internet connection sometimes, which is how Goon or Dax or Emily or someone posted like 18 pages at once one time, but in general yeah, everyone has to wait.

If the teacher is going to cut you off at 5 minutes, then overtime is a problem.

Why don't you just make each main topic or subject for your paragraphs into slides or sub slides and just talk about them? May be too simple, but I don't know. Because it was too long. That was the problem. I did one main point and still almost went over time.

Trying to adapt a 15 page paper into a 5 minute presentation for tomorrow. This is incredibly difficult.
  7. Spear phishing. I made a mistake when I picked something I didn't care about, lemme tell you.
  8. You know what someone could do to make me happy right now? Finish this 15 page, single spaced, bullshit paper I'm 9 pages into.

I hat ethis dorm it's so [bleep]ing cold I was shivering the entire time I typed this and it made it incredibly difficult to type ughhhh I think it's basically the same thing as friendship Adaquately and accurately defining romantic attraction has been an incredibly difficult thing for the aromantic spectrum for a long time, because it's kind of ephemereal. Friendship is the same, though, really. Like, what is a friendship? It's going to look and feel completely different for different people. Yet, you personally can generally say when you're friends with someone vs. being an acquaintance. Same with romantic relationships: a person can usually tell when they're romantically attracted to someone, and that's what it takes to be so. For you two, part of that is a sexual attraction, and you won't feel romantic attraction without it, which is fine and fairly common, but definitely not universal. Anyway, the best definition I've seen in the past few years of being in the aro spectrum is this: So if you're going out on a date with someone you met on Tindr, you are trying to get to know the person relatively intimately (over a series of dates, anyway) without having any sort of rapport to serve as a foundation on which to build that intimacy. Romantic attraction, then, is the desire to obtain that intimacy with another person. If the only reason you would want to seek that intimacy is if you want to have sex with the other person, then that's a necessary component to you feeling romantic attraction. An alternate way to look at this definition is as a desire to get to know someone more emotionally intimately than they would a friend. Like, you have your best friends and closest friends and there's a level of emotional intimacy and sharing you have with them, and a romantic relationship would be a level beyond that. You want to have more of an emotional connection with the person, and you want to have more involvement and power to solve emotional issues with that other person than you would with a best friend. This makes a lot more sense for people who would only want to date friends/people they know than for those doing online dating or meeting people at bars, but it still applies to the latter group. One thing this definition doesn't touch on is that romantic attraction generally implies/requires a level of commitment. If you enter a romantic relationship with someone, especially a serious one, you're usually saying you are going to be with this person for a long time and you're going to put in a lot of effort to make sure the relationship keeps going even when both internal and external pressures threaten to break it up. I.e., you'll move with your romantic partner/travel to visit them with some regularity if they move, whereas if you moved to another city solely because your friend did so, that would be kind of weird. So, summary, romantic attraction without sexual attraction is all of the above things, but without wanting to bone them. It's a desire to get to know someone in a deeply emotionally intimate way without a necessary corresponding desire to want to have sex with them. And, again, for some people that doesn't make sense, as the only way they'll have that desire for someone is to want to have sex with them. Everyone feels all attractions (romantic, sexual, platonic, etc.) differently, and understanding that is key to understanding the different types of orientations.

Yes. I interviewed with one of the employees and an intern instead. I got that job.
  12. Who's your carrier? Do you get good reception? How wide is your coverage?

Fair enough. I just assumed it would be easier to work in an already existing format than to create your own text editing software. If that's not enough, then fair.

I assume you considered it, but why wouldn't HTML work? Particularly considering that would allow you to put it out there in a form more usable to the average reader than pdfs. You can do a lot with HTML. I'm thinking like Homestuck, which plays a lot with its format over the course of the webcomic, and which is all done via HTML with a splattering of flash.

You don't have a class that teaches push down automata, context free grammars, and Turing machines? Those are all really important to creating compilers, and the two classes we had on it both liked to imply that CFGs were one of those things that every programmer had to know.https://www.cise.ufl.edu/academics/undergrad/courses I don't see it. It might be offered as CIS4930, which is for special topics. I don't know if there's a list of those courses anywhere Yeah, I don't see anything in there that sounds right. Can I just say, though, that the first like 5 classes on that list are things I want to take? I'm really mad, I don't have enough interesting classes at my school, so I had to take random shit to fill up hours. Very jealous.

Oh, yeah, my sarcasm didn't come across very well there. It seems like one of those things academics seem to think you need to know, even though 99% of programmers will never use it. Like the way linked lists are implemented, even though who is ever going to program their own linked lists. That kind of thing.

Then why do you feel the need to jump into every discussion that even marginally involves political/social issues with either "I don't care about that and my life's great" or "Have you every considered... NOT caring about the thing?" Like, it's not helpful, it's just obnoxious. And if you really don't care if other people followed your example, you wouldn't feel the need to offer unsolicited advice/commentary.

There are definitely people who don't have the option of just leaving a country when they don't like something. Leaving a country requires a lot of money, both in terms of savings and active income. There's also an education barrier, because immigration offices require tests to prove you know about the country you're immigrating to, and for non neurotypical individuals sometimes that's not possible. Plus potential language barriers, or prejudices, or a lack of personal networks, all can be damning barriers to the idea of leaving a country whose policies you disagree with. And a lot of these things apply to your other "solutions." Disagree with the tax code? Finding ways to legally avoid paying taxes is not as easy as a Google search, it can require the deep understanding of the law that comes with a law degree, or the equivalent amount of time researching and studying laws. Sure, you can pay someone to do it for you... Unless you already can't pay taxes because your income is too low. Having a stake in politics matters a lot less if you're in a majority power position, because yeah, for a straight white middle class male, the person elected probably won't make a difference. But if you're in Ferguson, then the stakes matter a lot more, ESPECIALLY at the local level, right down to the local sheriff and the mayor. Because those are the people making decisions to hire racists, who make prejudiced policies, and then band together to defend the racism. And, locally especially, one person campaigning can have a real impact.

Well what is this? A blatant spam thread created and enforced by the very mods we once know and loved. Well I'm going to turn this thread around. Make it something valuable to forum games, instead of the filth it currently is. So the new rules of this thread are simple. Create a new forum policy that all users must follow or be banned. I'll start. All posts must be colorful.
