Honestly, a little irrationality is probably to be expected from anyone in queer communities, simply because this a scary time with a lot of sort of inherent cognitive dissonance. Speaking generally, with no backing statistics or anything, but the people who fight against homophobia, etc. are also the people who fight against islamophobia, so now you've got to balance the "most Muslims aren't terrorists" with "this Islamic-associated man killed 50 people in the name of homophobia." Since neither statement is entirely rooted in logic sans emotion, it's an emotional issue to balance them, not a logical/rational one.Fair enough. Still, keeping decorum when it comes to tough events is a good goal. Even in emotional situations, it doesn't serve anyone well to throw logic out the window. I don't know if you're referring to me here, but I've already said the bathroom bill is mostly silly (although I can understand where it's proponents are coming from). I also don't think that Islam is inherently violent, or that an immigration freeze needs to be in place, or any of that related nonsense.Yeah, I decided it wasn't fair to characterize you in a particular way when I don't really know your views, but you posted before I could remove that part from my post. Oh well, I guess.

Don't count this one moment as being entirely discounting of any queer individual's ability to logic, because it's inherently hard right now.

I mean sure. The only real reason I get frustrated about it is because every time I develop romantic feelings, they 1) Go away as soon as I make any action based on those feelings and 2) Just make me feel awkward and creepy whenever I think about it, forever. But whatever. I didn't have a fun drunk tif thing sorry guys :(

I think I just lost the only aromantic friend I've ever had, because I can't be completely aro. And I can't have the things I had with them with anyone else, because I can't be in any way alloromantic. I've never, ever liked being in the gray space between the two. But frig damn has it never hurt like this before. I hope things work out when I'm not drunk, but I've never felt so out of touch with reality that I can't predict people's reactions, so idk if it will. I would post elsewhere, but they follow me on every platform but here, and I... Can't just not think about it. Frig, this sucks.

I thought it was called Elvarg? Isn't BEWD just a fandom nickname?

That's one of the more annoying but harmless symptoms of my depression. I get it fairly regularly these days, tbh.

I was going to say Omaha doesn't, but I guess Dundee is that, and North and west Omaha kinda count too. So yeah, is probably that most cities have them, considering Omaha is a pretty small city.

Is that all it said? Or was there actually something you needed to be considerate about?

I enjoyed Civil War but god damn the new Spiderman bugged the living shit out of me. RIP Andrew Garfield Tobey Maguire best spiderman NA I rewatched the first spider-man movie tonight 'cuz I've been wanting to for a while, and out of curiosity for whether it was as good as I remember, and yeah, it was. Definitely prefer it to Amazing Spider-man. Just something about charismatic but awkward white guy that I love. I am also, of course, a sucker for romances that don't work out, so that certainly helps. But honestly, Amazing Spider-man parker was just a generic early-2000s cool kid, and it was not interesting or exciting in any way for me. Like, honestly, who cares. Not me, that's who.

Yeah, that's what I used, I just didn't want to because I didn't need the map half of it, and honestly it's dumb that there's not a version of this that doesn't have it.

That's a good point to keep in mind, actually. I'll have to remember that next time I'm wanting a binary tree. I needed a dynamic size in this case, but I've had other cases where I just forgot about search and sort algorithms with decent efficiency. I ended up finding a solution though, so I'm cool with it for now.

Why the [bleep] does java not have some sort of balanced binary search tree in java.util. I know why, I looked it up, but it's really annoying, I don't want to implement one, what the heck.

What I've heard time and again from people dealing with mental illness is that you have to try therapists/doctors/whatever until you find one that works for you and your situation. Mental illness is different from physical illness because the personalization for treatment needs to be higher, so the demand to find someone who actually works for you is a lot higher. That being said, I recognize there's a lot of energy/time/monetary constraints that work against the "try everyone" theory, so take this advice as you will. I do agree with Ring above, though, in saying that it's entirely possible, and I would go so far as to say likely, that your brother is also dealing with some kind of mental illness. If you can work together to deal with your symptoms, that can definitely help both of you.

Because I have been officially told I am no longer allowed to revive old topics for some reason, I have come up with a new game! In this game you will find an inactive thread and post the premise on the first post. The next person will then follow the premise of the previous post, and then find their own old thread and post its premise. Feel free to repost the same topic if you want, whatever. It'll probably be more fun with more variety though. Don't feel the need to quote the whole post if 1 sentence would explain the topic. Just include a link, in case someone is confused. Especially with really old posts, as the formatting can be messy and excessively long because of errors with different versions of forum software. [hide=Here's an example] http://forum.tip.it/topic/98277-pass-the-cheese-now-on-tif/ http://forum.tip.it/topic/258546-im-better-than-you-because/ [/hide] Make sense? Good. Now, as is traditional for a new post, I'll start: Is this thread a ripoff? I prefer to think of it as an homage.http://forum.tip.it/topic/65161-the-youre-fired-game-over-1k-fired/

20 topics is a lot, and not many good options could push counting topics off the front...idfk, display? No word fits that. :/

No matter the quality of the work, there's a huge difference between a first viewing and a second and a tenth. When you come back to a work, you're viewing everything that happened in a different light with different goals. If you know what's going to happen, it no longer is a situation of suspense where you wonder if the heroes will make it and how, but a situation of reflection on how these events impacted the future. So a spoiler, a truly big spoiler that matters, is gonna be something that changes that first viewing to be like a second viewing. It'll ruin the "will they" or the "how". And I think you're wrong to claim that any work which relies on suspense to tell it's story is somehow gimmicky. Suspense and intrigue are vital parts of story telling.
