Celestial catalytic staff is necessary for any serious maging. Also you need 99 runecrafting to make an empowered catalytic staff. Ya any serious Mage should be binding that staff (or the highest staff they can) as soon as they get it. 30% damage with Fire surge is 364 + Potion Boosts. Combined with a higher tiered Blitzer Ring, and you can easily have higher DPS than melee. The only problem is magic is more of a "middle-end dungeon" tool since the materials take so long to make. I am against combat players binding hood's all together because feel like every monster in a room you enter should be killed. For key'ers they are ok to grab keys from DE's, but a combat team should not run through a room and ignore the monsters in it just because it makes the floor slightly faster. So a mage who binds a Melee weapon and then the Highest staff they can gives them a nice balance to the team. They can melee at the start when resources are low, and then mage once enough resources are present (which shouldn't really take more than 5-10 minutes). Why should people spend time killing monsters when it's not necessary?

Well from my experience, when I took bandos, I just turned on soul split and never fell below like 600 lp. It might be because I have rapier though, but bandos works fine with rapier.

Soul split since you want venge to hit. You should be able to survive 2 attacks if you are fully brewed and soul split a 600+ hit unless you are extremely unlucky.

Obby shield is still higher range def than a blessed spirit shield, and prayer bonus doesn't matter that much. I suggest taking a melee weapon for faster kills on the things that aren't 360s, since they don't hurt that much if you melee them anyway.

Its hard to set up venge and switch to claws while switching prayers at the same time. The best way to do it is to claw at the start then switch to rapier/whip.
