  1. Im not a big mellee person, but i need to get my defence up quite a few levels. Im wondering, from 71 to 80 defence, what the best method to train would be? I have 70 attack and strength (and 60 prayer if this helps) and im currently killing dagannoths (the ranged defence bonus on my gear is ~+378). Im wondering what the fastest exp/hour would be WITHOUT using potions (unless its very sensible to do so), and without doing bandits w/guthans. If the place is quiet its a bonus. Thanks in advance
  2. Good old magic shortbow with iron/steel arrows works fine for you too. The range bonus over what knives would give might make it a little more "efficient," especially if you're trying not to loose money. As far as a monster goes, you could try ogres like the above poster said, or lesser demons in karamja volcano (usually nice and quiet on p2p worlds). If you dont already have it, the accumulator would help, but its not essential. If you want to use knives, try killing chaos druids or fleshcrawlers. While they may have a pathetic amount of hits, you will most certainly profit from the herb drops, and flesh crawlers are aggressive meaning you can "afk" a bit if you have a decent defence level. For equipment, the best dragonhide set you can use, snakeskin boots (if you can get hold of them), archer helmet and an accumulator if you have done the quest/are prepared to spend time doing it.
  3. If you dont mind waiting to start your training for a little while, maybe do the watchtower quest and use the blues in the ogre enclave? Its not a long walk from castlewars (perhaps slightly longer than blues from fally w/70 agil shortcut), but you can use a dueling ring to bank, and its alot quieter than taverly. I kill the blues there quite regularly and i much prefer it to taverly. Just my thoughts anyway :
  4. Ahem.... Mage armor < Ranging Npc Scratch that, no fury if using pendant, - magic attk if I use any arma armor. Next... Just wear monk robes, sara/zammy stole/mitre (one sara one zammy), your best mage boosting gloves and boots, prayer book and a fire/air staff. The addy bar drops more than pay for the prayer potions, and depending on your prayer you might be able to make the cash for the bloods back  I did this, worked quite nicely
  5. If you've done watchtower quest you can use the blue dragons in the ogre enclave place. Run from castlewars (you can run the entire way with 1 super energy or 2 energy pots) to the enclave and kill the dragons in there. When your done just use a dueling ring to bank at castlewars, and repeat. Its also rarely crowded in there, and if it is its very easy to find a quieter world.
  6. Thanks all for the responses : Still open to ideas
  7. Would the time spent making natures not be better spent making money to buy even more natures though? I have no idea how long it would take, just a thought :?:
  8. Im looking for a cost efficient way to train magic from about level 82 upwards (ideally to 94+). At the moment, im high alching yew longbows (buying the natures at market price and the bows at lowest from the .g.e), but im loosing a little more money than i would like. Im wondering what the alternatives are, and im open to trying pretty much anything apart from the mage training arena (unless im doing something really wrong there, and it isnt actually as slow and boring as it appears). Anything that gives hits exp or makes a slight profit is a bonus, but obviously these tend to be slower. However aslong as it isnt REALLY slow ill give it a go. Thanks in advance :
  9. I remember reading somewhere that your resistance to magic is very dependant on your mage level, that might be it :?:
  10. I actually find void more accurate than black d hides (yes its not armadyl but its getting there) on just about everything besides steel/iron drags. It seems to me like the boost from void helps more than the accuracy boost from a high ranged bonus. May just be me though #-o
  11. 60 attack for a dds might be useful, and higher means you will hit more often on some of the more defensive people you will come across. 70/75 attack may be useful in the long run for using a whip/gs. If you absoloutely dont want 2 defence, try 20 for proselyte.
  12. Longbow accurate and shortbow accurate have the same max hit (same applies for rapid). The ONLY differences between long and short bows of the same wood are the range of the weapon (how far it shoots, not the max hit or attack bonuses) and the alchemy values, and the special for magic bows. Your max hit depends on the ammo you use, not the weapon :
  13. I heard howl scrolls from a spirit wolf actually cause the revenants to flee too. I may be wrong though.
  14. Ive been having the exact same problem, they really do need to sort these prices out. Im currently using a book of balance instead, but i got this filled before the GE was released. Still, guthix pages may be easier to get hold of if you're willing to sacrifice +4 range attack.
  15. I know exactly what you mean. Although it is really hard to find an original name now the games been out for some time i guess.
  16. This sounds like a good idea to me. Do you have any idea how many drags a fully charged bow will kill (73, almost 74 range) ? If not thats fine :P
  17. Ive got enough money to pay the first 900k. Its the subsequent charges that ill have trouble paying for. And thanks for the fast replies :D
  18. Hi, i just finished roving elves and got myself a crystal bow, and ive worn down the first 2 charges. Im aware how the charge system works, and i was wondering if there is a monster i can kill with it which will cover the cst of the charges after the first 900k one (i have enough money to pay for this). A couple of people have suggested killing aviantese (or whatever the plural is -.- ), but personally i dont think i have the stats to cope with prolonged exposure to the GWD (40 defence, 44 prayer wont last long), and i am currently 6 agility levels from being able to enter. If this IS a good method however, i am willing to spend time getting agility up. Finally, if there isnt really anything i can kill with the bow to cover the charge costs, any methods of making reasonable amounts of money from 900k would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
