  1. Yeah. I see why people get upset about it, but at the end of the day it's a life, and they should be cared for.
  2. Says the guy who was manipulated by his ex for years. Not meaning to be rude, but your case is exactly why contacting exes on a whim isn't a good idea.

At least it wasn't 3/4" of freezing rain then rain on top of that like in northern N-B. Roads were slippery as hell because of that today, much more than just freezing rain. I can't understand why they don't close college when everything else is closed including stores. If the funding system works the same way as ontario high schools, the college receives a certain amount of allotted funding per student per day the college is open. So they don't get any government money if they close the school (even if little or no students are actually there). That's the way it works here. I don't know if it's the same there, but if it is that's certainly an explanation. It could be, but they closed the schools 3 times so far this year, but college never closed this year. The college is government run though, so there's a chance it might work like that. We still have to pay for the tuition and stuff though. The tuition you pay only makes up a very small percentage of the actual cost to teach you. For example, at the college I went to, I paid about $2k per semester, and the government subsidy for me was $10k per semester.

  5. I doubt it. I've seen squirrels fall out of trees 50 feet high and emerge relatively unscathed. But yes, still a bit cruel.
  6. Good thing you posted here instead, so we can tell you not to.
  7. I agree, but just because someone is making minimum wage doesn't mean they shouldn't be tipped. Tipping should be socially encouraged, but not mandatory. I think that's the best compromise... We're not suggesting that - it's a blatant misrepresentation of our position. We simply want tipping to be a choice, as opposed to an obligation. I don't mind it being social etiquette, but I do mind it being an expectation (I realise I phrased my thoughts poorly in an earlier post). That's the difference. I never said it was your position. "I agree, but just because someone is making minimum wage doesn't mean they shouldn't be tipped." It's implicit. Thank you for telling me what I meant. I added it as an aside to a point someone else made.
  8. It is in Canada at least. And I believe in the states, there is a minimum wage for waiters, it's just less than the "normal" minimum wage - they can't be paid less than that. I could be wrong though.

Pretty sure Randox lives in the Maritimes - also known for frequent rain if I'm not mistaken :P
  10. I enjoyed this page of the thread.

Speaking of Obama and Republicans, apparently Tim Thomas refused to go meet with Obama with the rest of the Bruins because he's a die-hard republican. Huh.
  14. But we love wild mass guessing. Apparently.
  15. I did just retire. Jeez. Not everything that happens around here is part of a conspiracy..
  16. Honestly, she's probably either having second thoughts about saying yes or she was never that thrilled about it in the first place. If she was, she would definitely be making an effort to contact you or at least tell you why she was busy, especially considering how long you guys have gone without much communication. I agree with this interpretation. Short of a death in the family, or some other form of legitimate excuse, theres no reasonable explanation for her not communicating with you, unless shes trying to save your feelings ... Sure doing a great job of that, isn't she? :P

I thought Bush did a much better job than anyone would give him credit for as well.

Unfortunately, this is probably a true statement. Shrug. I'm not a big fan of him but imo he's probably better than any of the other options.

the fact that Newt "[bleep]bag" Gingrich can even RUN, let alone garner votes should be proof enough alone. I'll join the taliban before I let that moron be my president Careful, how do you know the FBI aren't lurking here? Honestly, the only candidate I feel might actually stand a chance at defeating Obama is Ron Paul, and that's only because of how ridiculous he is. So I'm pretty sure Obama's getting a second term.
