At least it wasn't 3/4" of freezing rain then rain on top of that like in northern N-B. Roads were slippery as hell because of that today, much more than just freezing rain. I can't understand why they don't close college when everything else is closed including stores. If the funding system works the same way as ontario high schools, the college receives a certain amount of allotted funding per student per day the college is open. So they don't get any government money if they close the school (even if little or no students are actually there). That's the way it works here. I don't know if it's the same there, but if it is that's certainly an explanation. It could be, but they closed the schools 3 times so far this year, but college never closed this year. The college is government run though, so there's a chance it might work like that. We still have to pay for the tuition and stuff though. The tuition you pay only makes up a very small percentage of the actual cost to teach you. For example, at the college I went to, I paid about $2k per semester, and the government subsidy for me was $10k per semester.
