So... am I missing something here? What part of it is rape? Legally, if a woman changes her mind at a point, even after having sex, she can call rape even if she doesn't say no at any point. The worst part is that if the genders were reversed the man would get told to man up. There have been cases where men have been raped by their SO and the police just laugh at them. Source?
  2. Wow, that game was brutal. Basically played a perfect road game for 50 minutes, and made some stupid errors that cost us. Of course a really bad call called off a goal for us, but even then...we had a 4-1 lead. Does give me confidence that we can beat the pens tonight though.
  3. The point still applies in the case of their time :P

Excuses, excuses. :P Try sleeping 11-7 instead. And if you make eating/drinking well a priority, the time will find itself. But yeah - drinking lots of water frequently will definitely help. Another thing with the sleep schedule is to keep it consistent. Even on days you aren't working, try not to stay up too late, and not to get up too late (obviously with some exceptions depending on how much you party or whatever).

    Today...

Buy three bottles of mineral water. Drink them. Fill with tap water, keep in the fridge. £1.50 for a near endless supply of fresh, chilled water. 10,000% mark-up? Not here. Whenever I come home from work, I feel very tired. My job is quite physically and emotionally demanding, but it's near 8pm now, my shift finished at 4pm, and I'm still yawning/gasping for a cup of tea to keep me awake. I used to dungeoneer after work but now I just can't concentrate for long enough to play RS. My Halo performances are erratic when I play on a work day too because my reflexes are slow and I'm not paying attention well enough. Any tips on how stay more "awake" in the evening when you're winding down from work/school? What's your sleep schedule like? Also, tea and coffee are stop-gap solutions to tiredness. Neither of them actually gets to the root of the problem.
  6. Yeah, that's really dumb. Especially as the song is about suicide in the first place...children are more likely to be "damaged" just by listening to the song than hearing the f word a few times.

He didn't say "buy bottled water", he said "take a water bottle". I have several bottles I fill with tap water if I'm going somewhere.
  8. Go on, I think you might have caught me. In a capitalist society, we have a right to be paid for the work we do. By extension, we have the right to choose not to do work for a certain person, or make our services available to a demographic, etc, etc. That's our right as people who can work and owners of intellectual property. It's quite simple - piracy does not respect that right. You may say that movies, tv shows and music are generally of sub-par quality, and overpriced. I'd agree with that. But it doesn't change the fact that the owners and creators of that work have every right to charge whatever they feel is reasonable for it. When you pirate, you are effectively disregarding that right, which is effectively theft. Now, I'm not saying the right to intellectual property and control over your own work is inalienable or anything like that. But it is a right we have in a capitalist society and one that is certainly not superseded by the desire of the general populace to use said intellectual property without proper permission or payment. EDIT: @Range - the average worker has no possession over what they create, because they create it with the understanding it is being created for someone else and they have no ownership rights over it. The actual possession the average worker has ownership of is the work itself - and thus they deserve to be paid for doing it. If, for example, someone is forced to work without pay, it's called slavery - because the right to demand payment for work they do or things they create has been stolen from them.
  9. I don't consider this to be wrong. Still being honest. As far as utilitarianism sees, this is a win-neutral situation. Person A got music/movie/content; B received no product, was deprived of no product, received no money, and was deprived of no money (before you say that's false, saying it's true implies the seller has the money before the transaction takes place, which is obviously untrue). But it's not neutral at all. Person B is being deprived of the right to control the material they make - which is a very important right.
  10. Oh okay, I agree. But I still think the right to good health is an inalienable right.
  11. What I'm splitting hairs over is the difference between an inalienable right, a right, and an entitlement. Government sponsored/run healthcare is at best a right for those apart of that country, but in no way is it an inalienable right. I'd say its closer to an entitlement though. Are you suggesting that a government should only provide those things which we have an inalienable right to? I'm just curious, I don't see where you're going here...
  12. I'm not a big fan of harm based morals, no. Even so, we live in a capitalist society where people deserve to be paid for their work. When their work is taken or otherwise used without their permission or payment, that constitutes theft. The word itself may not be "adequate" as you put it, but the idea behind it is quite clear. What kind of morals are you into then? Absolute ones. But that's for another topic.. It depends how you define theft. I personally don't see them as equivalents. Like I said before, perhaps "theft" in it's definition is not 100% suitable. The principle of obtaining and using something without permission or payment is what I mean, and it is undeniable that piracy is exactly that.

  14. Not my intent. But if you seriously think there's nothing wrong with piracy and are legitimately trying to argue that, you need to rethink your opinion. EDIT: But I see you admit that you stole it. Which is my entire point. So we seem to agree?
  15. Yeah. Oh the all star game, so silly. And I am pumped for Wings-Leafs. Definitely taking a road trip if it happens :D
  16. Well, I guess they are. Nothing to do here.... Seriously, just stop. Claiming that piracy isn't "theft", or "stealing" is frankly a matter of semantics - it's obvious and undeniable that when you pirate a movie or song you're obtaining and using the property of someone else without their permission. It doesn't matter if there's a physical object being deprived or not. If you pirate, say it's because of the outrageous prices and awful product these companies put forth. That's a fair argument. Saying you're not taking anything away from them just clouds the issue and is completely untrue.
  17. I agree with your second point, but as for the first: http://www.treelobsters.com/2009/05/relativism.html I'd say terrorism is frequently justified, based on the above. Hold on though - that comic is completely right. That's not terrorism. Attacking a military target is never terrorism. That's just a label NATO and CO applies to win public approval. Flying a plane into the world trade center was terrorism. Bombing NATO convoys in Afghanistan and Iraq is not.
  18. Are people still honestly trying to claim that piracy isn't theft?
  19. What if enough people are influenced by a group to the point where it could potentially spread? Not agreeing or disagreeing, just playing devil's advocate. Educate people as to why the hate is a bad idea, don't outlaw it entirely. There are many ideals that a large number of people adhere to that are potentially harmful. Trying to crush those ideas by forcing people to not follow them is almost never the right choice.
  20. In that case there is no inalienable rights in a society. Rights can be taken away or twisted in any circumstance without the ruling powers being considered "tyrannical". If we followed the "endowed by the creator" rule, then the only thing we truly have a right to is being alive. And that forms neither an acceptable condition of "human"/inalienable rights or civil rights. I don't know if I agree with that. I agree with this. The right to health is as inalienable a right as any. That's not the same as "free healthcare". Healthcare isn't free, it's publicly funded. The majority of the population pays taxes in order to provide it. And the majority of the population is deserving of it. Just like any other public service. You just made my point. What? That public services are given to anyone regardless of whether or not they deserve it? I don't see you complaining that people who don't pay taxes drive on publicly funded roads.
  21. Terrorism is never justified and the right to hate should always be allowed.
