  1. Mastery :P Are you brining up a class from 80? Or starting over? If you start over it's self explanatory, if you're starting from 80 let someone with specific class knowledge tell you :P
  2. And the leafs call up Reimer again. Interesting.... Gustavsson's been playing like total [cabbage]. I think he's the best goalie the leafs have when he's on his game...but man he's so inconsistent. Hopefully they give Reimer a few games at least.
  3. Happy birthday guys, quite the milestone!

Yet the meaning of "universe" implies there is nothing outside of it.
  5. I really think he should keep that line. All three do have good trade value, but he's not going to get anything more than what they are already - and since they have that great chemistry it makes sense to keep them.

See, that's relatively unimportant because the same logic still applies to whatever existed before our current definition of the universe. As before, the point still stands. Even if the origin of the universe does not have the same meaning of "existence" there is still a point where our current meaning of existence becomes real and plausible, and at that point we have no explanation for "something" being "created" from "nothing".

Here's the thing - nothing in our universe comes from nothing. Everything we see on earth is an evolution of matter that previously existed. The matter that previously existed was a further evolution of matter that previously existed, and so on, and so forth. The big bang theory stipulates that there was nothing, no matter - that became matter. But if this was possible, a fundamental rule of our universe had to have been broken in order for this to happen. If we assume that the big bang was actually the universe creating itself from nothing, then the law of the universe "nothing can come from nothing" can be considered to not be a law at all, as it would have been broken in the very creation of the universe. However, if this is the case, one wonders why we see no evidence of such behavior currently. If it was possible for the universe to create itself, for nothing to come from nothing, why, then, does the same no longer apply? (at least to all we've seen thus far). The only explanation is that a force to which the laws of the universe DO NOT apply had to create the universe with it's laws as present. God, thus, is a logical conclusion (or at very least, some force we know nothing of). All science has told us we know, really, is how little we know.

But if the universe can create itself, why can't God?

Well, trees die like everything else. We have fossilized wood etc that dates back many more years than existing trees.
  10. I kinda agree with gustavsson..maybe more if it was thsi year though. I don't think we want them scraping the bottom of the standings yet another year after this one.

The problem with this argument is that it can't be properly summed up in a debate like this. It literally requires bookloads of material to make a valid case either for or against. I will say, however, that a strong reason for me keeping my (barely) faith is the generally rude, condescending, and narrow minded attitude of most atheists.

It's megabits - but iirc that would still be a fair bit better than your current connection?
  13. yeah, but considering he's the best point producer (by far) on an already offense struggling blue line...I think beauchemin would be a better trade option. With the cap space the leafs have, they can keep both :P Although perhaps a new contract for armstrong would be a little less. I guess...when's his contract up? He should be making less, definitely...but if they can resign him for less I think it'd be worth it. Kessel's not garbage...he's still really young and he's on pace for a 30+ goal season, which is about what was expected of him. Yeah, he's not great, but I think people have over-hyped expectations. Let's see how he does with a good centre as well(hopefully they'll be able to get one)
  14. Moving this to wars & runins :)
  15. I agree - if you're going to give negative feedback, giving a reason is good, and not too much to ask. Positive feedback should be sufficient in and of itself, and allowing it will help make this a more active place.
  16. He still has to clear waivers though...and a lot of players have been claimed off waivers lately.

As I said before, many people have no desire to delve that deeply into their beliefs.
  18. obfuscator replied to L2Ski's topic in Off-Topic
Depends what you mean by "back up your beliefs". Not everyone digs deeply into what they believe as that's just not a facet of their personality. There are just as many uneducated atheists as uneducated religious ;) The way I am (and many) means that I prefer to be able to back up my beliefs. Not everyone sees that as important.

"walk the walk and talk the talk" implies that your actions mirror your speech and beliefs. You called it a load of crap, implying that you disagree that one's actions should mirror their speech and beliefs. Hence, doing one thing while saying another is hypocritical. I agree that hypocritical people are a downfall of religion. Thus, if everyone followed "walk the walk and talk the talk" there'd be much less hypocrisy ;) There's nothing wrong with being neutral, and being sure to understand both perspectives/sides of the story. However, eventually most people make a choice, about which argument is more convincing, and then live their life in accordance with such. It doesn't mean they've never considered the alternatives, it simply means they've arrived at a different conclusion.

Walk the walk and talk the talk is a load of [cabbage]? So you're suggesting it's ok to say one thing but do another? How hypocritical.
  22. Hi - I've moved your topic to the art bazaar as that's the appropriate forum for requests!

I rarely buy books. I'm in my third year now and I've bought 4 textbooks so far, totalling no more than $250. I have more books, but I don't buy them :P
  24. Komisarek, probably not. Giguere is decent enough that he'd get interest somewhere, albeit with a smaller contract.
  25. It'll be considered, for sure :D
