  1. I agree with this. I understand the desire to have the parade, since obviously gays have been repressed for ages, and want to celebrate, but it doesn't help people accept them at all. A lot of the stuff that happens in those parades I think is lewd and inappropriate regardless of the sexual orientation of those involved.
  2. Yes, and even though you've made several posts on this thread you've yet to provide one single good reason for the removal of this rule. We don't object to change here - what the users want they should get. However, if you wish to see a change to current procedure, the onus is on you to prove the need, not on us to defend it.
  3. It was conditional, and theoretical. to number 2.) According to the info Racheya posted, it took a while to verify it. If there were so many reports, it should have been handled quickly. Either that or the mods just didn't get to it in time. I didn't bother replying to your "theoretical" questions because I don't care about theoretical possibilities. You seem determined to debate just for debate's sake and I don't intend to waste my time. It took a long time to verify because we needed to be sure that what was posted was actually offensive. This took a long time as it wasn't in English.
  4. Oh ok, so I'll post whatever I want on these boards and hope no one ever reads it. Good plan  Yes, it took a while to verify the multiple reports we received about it, from multiple people who understood it and were offended.
  5. I can tell you right away that's not the case. We've had inappropriate things posted in other languages before and it's taken us forever to ascertain whether or not they're actually bad. It's not worth the headache.
  6. There isn't a place, no. OT would probably be the best. I don't think there's enough literature discussion to merit a subforum, to be honest.
  7. Congrats :) Good luck on 6 more!
  8. Well I get what you're getting at now, four posts later. That's a good point at least, but I think we want to give people the ability to read/write in their native tongue to some degree even if they have to know English as well.
  9. This. I know it's impossible to change the way you feel, but actions are 100% controllable. All I'm attempting to prove by this argument is that God giving us strife doesn't make him inherently evil or hateful.
  10. That's correct, and the "homosexuality is evil" argument is one I've gotten into before but have no desire to get into now. However, your argument presupposes that humans are always incapable of overcoming their animalistic tendencies, when in fact we overcome these every day, both severe and otherwise.
  11. Premise: God, if she exists, being an omnipotent creator, must be loving and caring, possibly beyond human comprehension. God chooses to create gay humans, and -according to some religions- then sends them to an everlasting, infinitely cruel punishment without the possibility of parole or redemption for acting on those desires -something as simple as having sex. Clearly not merciful or loving, even by human standards. Accepting the premise, it follows that no such God exists -some dogma of the religions must be wrong. It is not an entirely logical reasoning and it's certainly incomplete, and it only speaks against conservative versions of Christianity (and Islam and Judaism), but that's more or less the argument. And I'd personally say that forcing someone to choose between unwillingly being celibate for your whole life and facing eternal punishment is not "loving the sinner". This argument is illogical because if God choses to create gay humans, he also chose to create violent humans, racist humans, angry humans, mentally challenged humans, etc. The fact is that all of us have something we must overcome, something that gives us difficulty. In that manner (according to catholics anyway) homosexual tendencies are something to be triumphed over.
  12. Why should we? Runescape is primarily an English game, and we are an English fansite. There are other language-specific fansites out there.
  13. It seems to me that what you're suggesting is what we have already...I'm not seeing the difference.
  14. Apparently they have enough of the mine to roam around in that sanitation isn't a huge issue.
  15. Problem then is that people who would usually prefer to go private will object to their taxes supporting the public option when they'll never use it.
  16. This may be a good way to handle privatized healthcare too, though I'd be surprised if it isn't an option. Well with insurance you really are paying over time, just a lot more than you would in a public system.
  17. I've been watching the live feed all evening  It's quite interesting, makes me wish I spoke more Spanish though :(
  18. I'd rather pay a little over my life time rather than get slammed with a huge bill. Plus, it helps the maximum amount of people while hurting the least amount. I can't think of many better things for my taxes to go to than helping someone get health care Yeah, you pay over time rather than up front. It's really a personal preference as to WHEN you pay but one thing that's quite clear is that for most things, it's way cheaper over all with public healthcare.
  19. And according to the teaching of many different religions God loves everyone; that doesn't mean he loves what they do. I think it's terribly hypocritical of the religious to say God hates gays, I certainly don't believe that's the case.
  20. The first thing Magekillr posted was a list of life expectancies by country as of 1999, right? The States were 24th with an average of around 70 years. According to Wikipedia we're now 38th with an average of 78 years. The Netherlands are 16th and are at just under 80 years. Not a big difference, no? Not enough that you can solely blame health care like Magekillr's liberal blogs did. We also have a gigantic population. That has to count for something too. Yeah I was wondering about that. Statistics are not always what they seem :P
  21. You can do all that in Canada too :) If you have to pay for your treatment, it no longer is free. Will the Canadian Government foot the bill for the $93,000 it costs for provenge? Some cosmetic surgery actually is free. Some cancer treatments are paid for as well, but I can't speak for specific medicines.
  22. You can do all that in Canada too :)
  23. Don't think anybody labeled that abortion. Terminating a fetus prior to birth is abortion, I'm unsure as to whether or not you're trying to argue the definition....
