Rocco is a great ally. You just need to be sure he wont doublecross you. That said, I don't think he's double crossed me personally once yet.

Lol'd. You'd think he'd get how this works by now. He PMs shady dealings, get posted on thread 5-10 minutes later. Everyone discovers plans, Hex becomes laughing stock. Again.

You forgot Jormungandr. But yeah, this is what Nex was talking about. The second somebody mentions anything that may be of Norse origin, you feel the need to jump in and elaborate. Just saying.

Mather, Aid missions do require funds, but it's much better than spending on infrastructure since if you spend 25% of your budget on it you get .5 extra infrastructure instead of the normal .25.

On second thoughts, I like this system. It may be a little ugly (perhaps not the right word, but ah well), but it works very well. Anybody want to help Iran out?

Well, the increase by 5 thing has already been explained by Retech, so hopefully that is not a problem now. I have been thinking about what you said though and can suggest a fix...Aid Missions. They increase the infrastructure by twice that of spend on infrastructure for the 'mother country' and give the 'son' country gains in 20% of whatever that amount is, directly to its IAG. So America spending 10% of the budget(200 Billion) on aid missions to Iran would mean: America gains .2 Infrastructure Iran gains 40 Billion in IAG. The condition to the aid missions is that the 'son' country cannot increase grow beyond half its 'mother' country's IAG and still be on aid missions. That would provide an incentive for large countries to improve small countries, without small countries being god modded to power to balance out the rich countries. I do sympathise with you Ross, the wonder system could have been handled differently...But the intention of the system was to siphon off the massive excess budgets people had, prevent things like Doom's 'In a few years I can cure all diseases' research projects which are over powered but no one says anything because its quite useful, and give people a way to improve their countries, without allowing people to do, as in the last game, build things like the Basal Dam. I understand what you are trying to do with the system, but I'm not entirely sure it's the right way about it (Then again, since no alternative has yet been suggested (I can't think of anything), I suppose we will have to adapt this system. The aid mission system is a good solution, but not without it's flaws. It still allows the rich countries to overtake all the small countries very quickly, but I suppose that is neglible. Anyways, I think my computing project is done by now? Work on exoskeletons begins. Should take 10 years to produce the first generation exoskeletons, then another 5 until they are being produced at a decent rate. Work on a new line of weaponry specially adapted to the exoskeleton, but usable by regular foot soldiers, begins. Will be done at the same time as the regular exoskeletons.

If that is indeed true, then this system is strange and confusing and I- *Zzzzzz*

Nah, Archi said it increases Infrastructure by 5, which is the modifier you get to your base AIG. Therefore it is multiplied by 5. The 20% one (I would guess) applies afterwards. Now, I need sleep. I will try to think up a better alternative to the wonder system at school tommorow, since complaining about something without being able to suggest something to replace it is just stupid.

A higher budget means they can train better troops, and more of them. Whichever way you look at this, if a country has a budget 10x yours (And the way things are heading, almost all of the top 5 will), and you are not Sun Tzu, you WILL lose.

Rocco, unless you spend your entire budget on infrastructure for somewhere in the region of 50 years, there is no way you can equal their budget if they have built one of the weaker wonders. Hex, if I was going to research something which increased my infrastructure by 5, or even 2-3, on my budget, the people building wonders for several times the price will scream OP at me. Grim, I'd much prefer if the system was revised, since it is poorly implemented. I'd be willing to listen to the idea though.

But they have a wonder which gives them huge bonuses to infrastructure, allowing them to have a bigger army and steamroll your army. not to mention that training an army to prevent steamrolling by a nation which can afford a wonder will cost you a lot as it is. Right, since this system pretty much forces me to get involved in a wonder, I suppose... No, wait. I'm not done complaining yet. I'm just going to use myself as an example here, but it applies to countries such as Egypt, and, as much as I hate to say it, China as well now. I am pretty much forced to start a wonder, or I will get left behind since nothing I could research could be as powerful as those listed (If I started a project which took 30 years alone and would make my infrasturcture grow at twice the normal rate, people would likely scream OP at me.) , and if I helped another country, I would not get the benefits. Now, since the wonder costs so much, and since my budget is quite low, (The third lowest or something like that, but that is irrelevant.) starting a wonder would pretty much screw me financially until it's built. In fact, looking at the costs, it would put me in a huge amount of debt. This means that I am left with three options. The first is to ally myself with bigger countries for no real benefit other than them getting to decide whether they protect me or not , and help me with a wonder. (Since, let's be realistic, they have no real obligation to do so, since they are the more powerful country here). This option means that I cannot grow to surpass the country since it likely has a wonder and would not want to allow me to grow too powerful. (That applies to the other two options as well though) Option two is to not ally myself with anyone and get steamrolled later on, since I don't have a wonder to help me grow since I couldn't afford it. And Option three is to start building a wonder, destroying me financially unless I get donations from more powerful countries (Again, they have no real obligation to do so) Now, none of these options seem very appealing to me, but there really is no other chance. The wonder system helps the rich and screws the poor by widening the gap between the two. This system needed discussion and balancing before being implemented. There is still time to do so, before it becomes too far to reverse it without causing all sorts of problems.

I'm saying nothing Retech, I think this wonder thing should have been discussed before being implemented.

This is why the wonder system is flawed. That said, I cannot suggest an alternative, so I guess I have no choice but to be put at a disadvantage.

Yes, I can download it, so it should work fine. You still forgot xp though.

Nah, I need to plan out the next campaign. It'll probably be ready by next friday. Also, you guys really need to remember to keep detailed tabs on your inventory and xp.

Okay, right, put that into a word document, and go to save as, go to the "Save as type" bar, and select PDF. Click save, and then go to http://pdfcast.org/ and upload it. After that, post the link here. Also, you left out XP.

PS. I have started work on the next Campaign. Can't give away much information, but it shall be centered on regaining Jen's sight. The disease affliction turned out to be a godsend for me, since now I have a plot hook to go off from :P

Uuuh..You guys know that I really do need those .pdf files of the stat sheets which I've asked you for like... 3-4 times by now? It'd take like 5 minutes. Just save a copy of the most recent one as a .pdf, then upload it and post the link here. To find a decent .pdf uploader, just type in "PDF uploader" on Google.

The way I see it, most of the countries at the moment are making a slightly overpowered wonder as it is, and nobody is piling any of them at the moment. And Archi, the thing is that it does not leave them a chance to strike out on their own. The large countries become more powerful since they can afford to build the wonders easily, and then they continue growing further and further away from the small countries in terms of power. Since you already stated that the wonders only apply to the person that built them, allying yourself to a larger country will simply give you a minor amount of protection. It will not stop everything else from overtaking you. Sure, rich countries should have an advantage, and so far, they have, but take that advantage too far and it becomes unfair to the rest of us. I think the wonder system takes that advantage that little bit too far.
-
Hegemony
That leaves us at a standoff again. The larger countries will inevitably have a larger military or better defenses, one of the two, which means that construction is difficult to prevent and will set the small countries back even further if they try it. The system is inherently flawed in this aspect.

Hegemony
Okay, I *Really* think that we're focusing too much on this wonder system. The system is flawed since Mather, Retech, Grim and Icu can all build wonders pretty efficiently. Other countries will get most of their budget eaten by it, leaving them out of the race or at a severe disadvantage. Now, since the wonders are so powerful, this puts the already developed countries at an even bigger advantage, leaving smaller countries which wont be able to effectively build wonders unable to catch up, even with this infrastructure system.
