  1. But what difference would it make to the gameplay? I mean, unless you plan to make branches for every element, then it'll just be "Air: Level X" on the sheet regardless.
  2. Yeah, Retech, but I don't really want claws is the thing. I guess I'll just have to go with air magic... It's not too bad, I guess, but still. And yes, I do realise I sound like an ungrateful child.
  3. Urgh... Well, I guess I'll go with... er... 1.0 claws? I'd rather pick a magic school because it seems to be harder to start off magic, but I don't really have anything else I'd want. I regard void magic as a mistake I made. Looking back, I would have seperated it out.
  4. So wait, Retech, what's the point of void if I can do the same thing with air pressure? Can't gravity be a different school? I'd rather limit myself than have everything be opened up easliy because I can control air, y'see, and I like the idea of magical pressure. <_<
  5. Eh, I was kind of hoping I could focus on the pressure part of it, but if you think I should go with air, then okay. The problem with making one form of magic powerful and hard to obtain is that suddenly everyone wants it. That was my major mistake.
  6. Edel, why not just choose healing magic and only use it on yourself then?
  7. Username: herp derp Character name: Ares Biahorae (HURRAH FOR LACK OF EFFORT) Description: Shoulder length, black hair, tall, with an average build, if a little on the thin side, has an eyepatch due to being blind in one eye from an accident, and his other eye is grey/blue. History: Ares didn't really fit in with the villages other people, prefering to stay inside and read, although he did get over that in the months before the destruction of the village. He made friends for the first time only to see them cut down or driven away soon afterwards, leaving him rather cynical and depressing to be around when he is acting normally. He tries not to let it affect those around him and is generally seen as a fairly happy person. His left eye was damaged when the village was destroyed, due to being caught by a knife. Unique quality (see below): 1.0 gravity (Is this allowed? I basically want some kind of magical pressure)
  8. Also, Retech, I think that the system is kind of flawed in that everyone seems to be incompetant. You saw it as well, right? I mean, the d20 system is kind of harsh, so maybe you should make the fail boundry just a tad lower? I considered it before, but decided not to. It's up to you, now.
  9. Eh, either one works for me. I do like airships though.
  10. Steampunk, perhaps? Gunblades, bro.
  11. Agreed. Attempting to balance it is more likely to ruin it.
  12. You can't really define something as "Too anime" I assume life magic would be healing, which features in pretty much every RPG out there, including western RPGs. The language idea just sounds kind of annoying. It means I need to have the entire thing saved and memorised, then spend 10 minutes per post working out what I want to say and how to say it.
  13. Icu, aerodactyl is one of the best physical sweepers out there, even if it's an NPC pokemon. Use something with high defense and bullet punch, as well as steel type. 80 base attack priority move should be able to wreck it.
  14. I don't really find gritty realism all that fun, usually. I prefer fantasy to modern settings. Scifi is pretty cool, too, what with Warhammer 40k and such.
  15. Indeed. I think it could also do with a slightly more structured system, so that training actually does something. I also think that the players should be kept together more, even if it does mean a small amount of railroading, it's better than everyone being miles away from anywhere.

Earth, it isn't a good idea at all, full stop.

But what if there was no chance to try again? What if that roll made your team get discovered and gunned down?
  18. Seraphi replied to archimage_a's topic in Falador Tavern
Yes, and then you'd be annoyed when the final outcome of all your effort was rendered pointless by a dice roll.

It just doesn't work, Earth. They're normal people, and must be treated as normal people. Nobody would want to play if there was a 50% chance that they'd die while infiltrating a base.

    Protagonist syndrome.
  21. Seraphi replied to Icuownage's topic in Falador Tavern
    Fair enough.
  22. Seraphi replied to archimage_a's topic in Falador Tavern
Doesn't work, Nex. You end up with the same "I AM THE PROTAGONIST, THEREFORE I AM IMMUNE TO BULLETS" syndrome, with people expecting their individual characters to be able to sway entire empires, as well as being able to tear apart large armies armed with only a machete and a handgun.
  23. Seraphi replied to Icuownage's topic in Falador Tavern
Nobody ever asks? You should tell people that you are doing a session. It's stupid to run a game you aren't having fun GMing. The reason I stopped GMing Dungeoneering was because it stopped being fun for me.
  24. I support Rocco's idea. Library should be a subforum of the tavern.
  25. Yeah, a vet is the best person to take a look at it. You'll probably get given eye drops for it.
