  1. I like the idea of combat training as well as the tactical and leadership skills that the military offers... but the idea of following orders while being blind to the big picture isn't my thing. Maybe become a Mercenary? No--because I'd have none of the respect and none of the discipline either. I have the feeling that everybody should get at least some combat training within their lives, but sources of that education are hard to find.
  2. They confirmed distinction in the two universes. Marathon is in it's own world. I'm pretty sure that world the MC floats towards is another one of those sentinel-infested spheres. The Shield worlds where all the S3's, S2's, and Halsey are trapped. It looked... alive. *Trademark creepy Halo music*
  3. Whenever you see a prompt for a 'hand-interaction', this is what you do: First, put on a look of extreme bewilderment. Slowly edge closer to the person's hand. Then, slowly, very slowly, do something outrageous. For example, if someone prompts for a handshake, slowly grasp the person's thumb. A high-five? Grip the person's wrist and place it upon your forehead. Great at parties. >.>
  4. Well if you make an impossible situation like that one, then yes - it cannot hurt you. I thought we were talking about Physical things though, not a state of mind... Pacifism cannot hurt you - Its kinda cheating the game... How about an extinct volcano? It is physical. Like I said, it's a mix between the chemicals in your body and the specific sequence of electronic signals in your brain. With something so ridiculously complicated (but still grounded in the physical realm), it's easier to say it can't kill you. It's because the thing I'm proposing is harmless is an emergent property, you cant reduce it to it's small parts and say that it is lethal.
  5. Meh, I'm going back to the state-of-mind issue. A sense of relaxed alertness cannot kill you. Once again I will state that this sense is the result of some chemical cocktail in your blood as well as some synapses firing in your brain. I'm sure this can't be defeated by that odd piss-locking iron-maiden idea Pureprayer came up with.
  6. Yeah, one time I dreamed I was just walking, and I tripped and right as I was about to hit the ground I woke up suddenly. (gasp and all) As for last night, I don't remember. All I remember is that I didn't sleep well. Why is it that dreams always stop just as you're about to hit the ground..? :S Your body thinks it's real, and reflexes kick in. My theory is that if you're still jerking and twitching out of bed--your body is tuned for survival. Though I'm no expert or anything. Could mean that you just have too much sugar in you, or can't relax even while sleeping.
  7. There IS nothing to counter the legendary facepalm :o A punch to the face? A 'facepunch', if you will.
  8. MC fires a tactical pulse from the newly constructed Installation 04 before it is ready, and so it begins to collapse even as it initializes firing sequences. He drives away while the Halo collapses beneath his speeding Warthog, and he eventually makes a jump into the Forward Unto Dawn. The Arbiter runs up into the pilot's seat while the MC hangs back, staring at Cortana. The Portal back to Earth closes as the Forward Unto Dawn makes it halfway through, leaving the MC stuck in extra-galactic space. He enters cryo-sleep, giving his final one-liner to Cortana: "Wake me when you need me." The FUD then floats to what looks like Forerunner Shield Installation. And we don't know what happens from there. Cortana has a period of a couple years before she goes insane and finally dies (she will begin thinking so much she will forget to carry on vital sub-routines, essentially going into such a high plane of thought that she forgets to 'breathe'), so it's unlikely that the MC will wake up. And if he does, it will be to the ramblings of a rampant Cortana or an entirely different form of intelligence.
  9. You could probably do away with all of that by shunting your airy, ethereal form through the inter-dimensional rift and into someone's computer. Don't worry, anybody who sees you will just think it's ball-lightning.
  10. Dream with a new biological law: you can fly but only with enough adrenaline pumped into your system. Ah, brilliant. Woke up drenched with sweat.
  11. The story of Desmond's memories was terrible. But the story of the present day? Freaking brilliant. I can't wait until the sequel comes out, and you join the clan that you left for epic acrobatic gunfights. [hide=]When I saw the nazca lines and read the e-mails about the crystal skulls, the teleporting ship and every other odd occurrence that Abstergo was studying, I knew that I was going to get hooked to the series. I'm pretty sure the aim of the entire trilogy they're working on is to find the Holy Grail.[/hide]

Curve, Realm for Men, Azzaro Chrome, and Armani Black Code are what I've used before. They were all gifts, and they all turned out to smell fine. I think one of them uses a synthetic human pheromone, which is kind of weird--but it smells alright anyway.
  13. I guess white people are still seen as the masters and oppressors. Reminds me of another study regarding the British accent-- Several prompts were read in different accents, and for every prompt, people believed the one read with a British lilt sounded most intelligent. Quite odd. It might work in reverse as well-- I've had some people ask if I've ever been to an English school because they had some reason to believe I was intelligent. Hell, they once ruled most of the world, so I guess the impression would last.
  14. Permissible? No. Not once we invent the MindJack, at least. It's coming. But with that comes a whole other host of controversies...
  15. Sitting cross-legged on a grassy hill. I then willed myself to teleport onto a distant mountain-- I briefly experienced being in two places at once, before I whited out and woke up. That moment was insane.
  16. This is a secret competition in progress. He who posts the greatest rank shall win it as his own. Maybe.
  17. The thing is, people do it anyway. Snap judgments based only on the slope of your brow or the line of your lips. They gauge your personality by the width of your smile. It's been proposed as an evolved intuition. Makes you think-- maybe the stereotypes perpetuate themselves. As more people become alienated by their looks, the more they fit the niche people have already set for them.
  18. I used to feel bad for automatically jumping to the thought 'She's a freaking troll.' But now there is proof that she is a troll-- and odd one that no doubt exudes some kind of pheromone to lure weak-willed guys. How the hell-- Screw it, I wont even go into it.
  19. I'm not speaking of a human need to survive. I'm talking about a need to keep our body of knowledge alive. Alive, and growing. The idea of a Universe, pristine in it's lifelessness, may seem a beautiful thought. But the dread that comes with knowing that such a world would have no one to perceive that beauty completely outweighs the love of such a concept. Paradoxical, I know. But in regards to it being a simple opinion--yes, it is. I am beaten here. But my point is, if we came across another sentient race that we could communicate with, I'd be happy to pass the torch of knowledge, and die.
  20. Killing can be justified. "I killed him... his nation vies for our freedom!" "He murdered my brother." "He stole money from the people I work for." There are scenarios where it can kind of be supported. Rape, not so much. Unless it's a game about how you are the last man on Earth, and need to repopulate. (But are so hideous that women refuse to save the human species by bedding you.)
  21. Some people have late growth spurts (some people grow in college or after) and are just short to begin with. Combined you get a 4' 13 year old. And how many actually intelligent 13 year olds can there be? :P I don't know. He just seems very childish. It's really just a half-assed hunch on my part-- it was the combination of the face, height, and strangely constructed interview answers.
  22. Does the boy have some developmental disability? I mean, four feet tall, and he doesn't seem too intelligent for a thirteen year-old. That would suck.
