I think Quantum Computers have just gained the ability to transport information bits instantaneously. Yep, information transport in zero time. We finally figured out how to harness the rule-breaking abilities of quantum particles, whoo. So... one step closer to the the hive-mind of the Human Collective, yeah? I'll be initiating handshake protocol with your consciousness in a hundred years.

Neither is important. We are all the result of a molecular fluke and have no more worth than a single measly grain of sand. Sand cannot analyze, come to conclusions, or philosophize. Can sand assign purpose to itself? No. It is dead, without knowledge or consciousness. Though we may be just a fluke, we can transcend our petty molecular origins. This is why we are special. This is why we must be preserved.

I was talking about disease in general-- but sorry for any grief caused anyway. According to Tryto, though, the reason we might run face first into the Earth's carrying capacity is because of improper resource allocation. Which is kind of sad. This removes the need for any kind of plague or disaster-- It looks like the Earth is just fine for now. As long as we can figure out a way to distribute things well enough. Otherwise, maybe it won't be so good.

Stop looking into the direct consequences of things. With resource management (sometimes that means cutting back on things that consume them), we can increase the longevity of the entire race. You're talking about keeping individuals alive in the name of some morally backed crusade against cold-hearted people who talk in terms of objective science. Countless future generations for the sake of individuals? No. Some of us would rather that some people, even though the ethical pain is great, sacrifice themselves for the race as a whole. Absolutely disgusting in the short-run. But with a long view you'll see that 'population control' might just preserve us all. All the culture, science, and philosophy we developed will persist in a Universe that is rapidly being seen as dark and lifeless. Will you crusade against 'The Scientists' because we seem to have no regard for human life? Then we will struggle against you--You who have no regard for the human species.

Valentines Day (Singles Awareness Day) Will Soon Be Upon Us.

I will be alone on this day. Because I am unloving, undeserving, and... Unacceptable. I thought I'd mix it up a bit. -
That's the hope. No need for the conclusions of science to clash with our principles-- we should always be able to find another way, I guess.

Smaller cast? No! The part of this show I like are when we discover new powers. [hide=]It was awesome when I learned of the entire mutant military project, but we only got to see super-strength. Damn it! I kind of hate the fact that Sylar has a 'partner'. He's a lone killer... if he doesn't kill Luke, it means he isn't 'hungry' anymore, and doesn't have anything truly evil about him. And, Mohinder is Spiderman, and I'll just keep coming back until I see him pull of some incredible Peter Parker (Or, Pavitr Prabhakar) combat off.[/hide]

Sometimes, to speak objectively is to sound disgusting. Of course we would feel for our friends and family if the disease ever took them--we would spend days mourning their loss and cursing humanity for not finding a cure. But that's the thing. We would only feel, not think. I agree, I'd be full of blind rage and grief if this virus took someone in my 'inner circle', but that's just how my heart would work. It still doesn't detract from the argument that disease provides a much needed population control-- a population 'stabilizer'. We already talk about disease wiping through other ecosystems, and being beneficial, but all of a sudden our emotions kick in when we talk about the ecosystems of farms, villages, cities, and the uncontrolled spread of humanity to every corner of the Earth. Science sometimes contrasts with our principles: Racism/Sexism? Bad. An intuitive human response during this day an age. But these hated concepts could be justified by Biology.

Super-virus? No. At least, not for enough time to actually be effective. The trick is to make it mutate faster. There are already a number of errors that happen when a strand of RNA mutates, and we are trying to increase the rate of error. It'd be like a cyclone of nucleotides whirling around with even more speed. Chaotic. Prone to mistakes. With enough errors, suddenly the virus becomes dysfunctional, and 'dies'.

If They found a Island in the south pacific with dinosuars..

Velociraptors are now actually theorized to look like tiny, feathered birds. I've seen some renders. Cute little things. Would make for an excellent Loony Toons-like burst of feathers as you blew them away. -
Conquistador I & II - Juno Reactor. Found it when I watched the Battle over Coruscant with this overlaid.

Is there anything that can't kill you?-No supercannons!
EdgedThesis replied to baalboy5's topic in Off-Topic
You'd die from blood overflow to the brain first. And the liquid would likely pool at the back of your head. -

EdgedThesis replied to baalboy5's topic in Off-Topic
If there is so little space between your body and the coffin, then the liquid wouldn't spread so much as... 'stay put'. >.> I'd like you to take a moment and visualize that. Liquid. Stay put. No space. Stay put. -

In any case-- does the adjective 'pleasant' connote any chance of pissing your pants? -

EdgedThesis replied to baalboy5's topic in Off-Topic
A giants' bladder perhaps? A giant would need a bigger box. What I'm saying is, anything with humanoid proportions wont be able to piss enough to fill the box that is containing them. Their skin and clothing will also absorb some of the urine, requiring even more bladder action. -

I doubt the human bladder can contain enough urine to fill the space needed to drown someone in a box. -

No. You cant reduce a dream to that. Just like you can't say that the human body is a hunk of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, iron, phosphorous, and whatever else there may be. There are such things as emergent properties-- properties observed when small things are arranged in such a way that they are different from other things of similar composition but different arrangements. Graphite and diamonds are both carbon structures. Are you telling me they can be regarded as 'the same'? A dream, a pleasant one (not one that causes high stress levels or involuntary urination), is made up of a specific sequence of electrical signals and chemical releases. You cannot say a dream is equal to the chemicals released, or the electrons used-- A dream is all of those things in a specific order and specific locations. -

Are you saying 'brain-juice' is equal to a pleasant dream? Really? Are you serious? EDIT: Quote wall terminated. -

Hello Friend, If you go in to a room where there is a person about to die with a big axe over their head and they are having a pleasant dream. And then just as brain fluids are released the axe chops their head off and you slip and fall on the brain juice you will die. The cause of death there is the axe you freaking moron. If something pierces your skull like that, and reaches your brain, you're dead. If the axe kills someone else and you slip on their brain juice. Then a pleasant dream would of killed someone. Again, no. It would be death by brain-juice slippage. Also, you neglect the electrical component of a dream. Remember, a party outside of a dream cannot experience the dream, and so cannot be killed by it. -

I would be dying of brain juice slippage, and subsequent concussion as my head contacts the floor. -

A pleasant dream cannot kill you. Dreams have physical bases within the electrical complex of your brain, yes? The sequential firing of these synapses and whatever chemicals are released to simulate some pleasant scene during sleep... cannot kill you. I wonder if this has been said, and if I'm making myself a fool? -
Omnimancy? Why are we talking about 'mancer's?

I think you'd go to 'Colors', the 'Edit Colors'. There should be an option to define what color you want. This will replace whatever color you have selected though. Now that you're in the Gallery-- I'm sure you'll find better advice from someone.
