Might've been posted before. Apparently there's a blur? How am going to fix that? (Doesn't show up on my screen, so I don't know) -
to be honest, you have to be pretty sheep-like to follow the extremists lines in the Quar'an that say "Jews and Christians are pigs, and should not be treated equally" Nah, I was replying to the question about what defines the line between fundamentalists and true Muslims. The Qur'an. And I thought the Qur'an holds Jews and Christians in high esteem? I was born a Muslim, and I havent even read it--which is pretty stupid, but meh.
-
The Qur'an does. A text dictated by the deity that you are asking about does.

Then I suspect that this day will be subject to a self-fulfilling prophecy. Maybe the day will end up worse than normal, just because a bunch of pessimists think it isn't worth the effort.

You dole out one day of peace. People begin to realize how much they like it. They crave it. It persists.

Do you know how Islam was founded? I'm not trying to cheaply insult Islam here, but Muhammad was basically kicked out of his city for being such a nut. He went to Medina and tried to recruit more people there. And then you know what he did? He waged war on Mecca (city he was kicked out of) and conquered it. Pretty much killing whoever stood against him. *That* was disturbing. Because unlike other things which could be considered a metaphor that could mean something else, this was actually documented. The basis of Islam is WAR. That's why it's so disturbing. Maybe Jesus was teaching the wrong thing after all huh He was kicked out of his city because he was damaging the power structure of the city, based on idol worship. And he wasn't even kicked out, assassins were waiting to kill him, and he left before they had the chance. He waged war upon the Meccans after settling in Medinah. When he got to the city gates, he forgave the leaders of the opposition. Sure, he killed people--but they were soldiers. He had specific rules of conduct when it came to war. Apparently, you couldn't even damage enemy trees without purpose--targets were just men carrying weapons.

I know, I mean, how DARE people compliment each other rather than arguing all the time. How bad would that be? Chaos and conflict is interesting. When you all come together without hostile intent, the spectators get bored.

Small-talk. Get to the point. I do not care about the weather. You know that there is a generic answer for your useless questions. Spark conversation with something genuinely interesting, lest I destroy you. I hate having to waste energy moving my mouth while talking to you. Why don't you?

He's British. Just because he doesn't like Islam doesn't make him American. Hypocrisy at its best though. He guessed, while at the same time making a point. A lot of Americans positively hate Muslims. That is expected.

I suggest that everyone tagging a religion as barbaric actually call up those numbers.

No blocking?! Oh, come on. I think you probably mean those huge sweeping Karate-styled blocks though. If not, then damn. Blocking, in my eyes, is directing an attack away from your body. It can be classic martial arts styled, where you bend your arms and swish them around in a general direction, or it can be the normal, instinctual 'smacking' away of an attack. I think that's just called a parry. But it is best when the two are coupled, or a parry is followed by a lunge of your own. E.g: Parry (stop the attack, or just lightly misdirect it), 'Block' (using your limbs to force the attacking arm/leg away, throwing the dude off balance), and then an attack-- Or, if you want to be quick: Parry, take the half second you just bought yourself to land your fist inside the guy's face. Or, whatever body part your reflexes deem fit to hit. Whatever.

Stop bashing the OP. He doesn't like the kid, who cares. His point is that this kind of behavior is probably the result of intensive 'bubble-wrapping'. No one cares about the actual kid in question, he might as well be a hypothetical person. He was meant to serve as an example. Sure, all of your reasons for it 'not being his fault' are perfectly valid. But that's not the discussion. Anyway, yeah: Kids who are overly sheltered end up failing. They need a crash course in the realities of life once the protective umbrellas of their mothers finally close.

Soccer players are always ridiculously good at 400s. Their constant running up and down the field is perfect practice for a 400 meter sprint. 53 seconds is beastly, my friend.

^Reminds me of an awesome quote from a book. Went something like: "You're forgetting I have one other weapon at my disposal." 'Oh yeah? And what would that be?' *guy points to his head* 'Haha, what, you gonna think me ta' death now?' "No." *brutal headbutt* I have a feeling it was a Star Wars book. Bad-[wagon] guy would be Mace Windu, no doubt.

Does that make a difference? "It is the East, and Juliet is the Sun--" ^Quote that I probably screwed up, but a metaphor nonetheless. Or did you just point that out randomly? Ah well.

Swarms. Of any tiny winged insect that packs a sting. Yeah, I have an irrational fear of bees. I've been around them before, but I didn't know it, so I know they don't sting if provoked--but still I am afraid. I have been stung before too, but it's pretty much a fear of getting a tiny pulsating barb launched into my skin that irks me--not the pain.

Wow, I'm feeling pretty ignorant right now. People who've had experience with real fights have been saying that there's a high possibility of death, which I just couldn't imagine happening from a punch or kick. Well, if you take it too far, obviously that's a possibility--but still. Like I've told you, I haven't been in a real fight before. Only spars. I thought the only difference is that instead of being kicked or punched once, the opponent would keep coming in an actual fight. Wasn't advocating the violent part of fighting. Was just mentioning that it's a thrill. And a test. I would expect a bruise or two, maybe a broken jaw or loose teeth--but not death as punishment for failing that test.

About the entire 'Honor' thing-- In my case, it's not about honor. It's about fear. Since I'm not going to kill my opponent, I'm afraid that if I kick him in the balls, he'll either get up right then and try to obliterate mine-- or even worse, wait a week and let an elaborate plan somehow cause me extreme pain. ...In that area.

So, I'm bored.. Who doesn't accept Evolution?

Damn--there I was hoping that we could cure... everything. Oh well--with time it'll happen. -

Yeah, but we could always bypass the entire generational thing and modify our bodies now. Use a retrovirus that changes the structure of your cells. I think there already is a gene therapy for diabetes patients that changes some of their intestinal cells to insulin producing ones. -
Or maybe we are just lucky enough to have come into existence while the Universe was still... "congested." I really have to read up on this more.

just a thought on this assuming that to be true, that would strongly support the rubber band theory along with the thought that the universe has/will undergo an infinite series of big bangs forming expanding universes that eventually slow down retract into a single point which causes the next big bang and so on? Would it? How so? I'm not so hot on the cyclic big bang model ever since I heard that the the Universe is expanding at an accelerating rate, i.e. it doesn't look like it's going to retract into any kind of crunch. I need to read more about it though. well the basis for my thought on that is that if the universe didnt cycle it would have disappeared an infinite amount of time ago. Also since there has always been the matter there is now it has to have been doing something pre big bang as to the spreading of the universe accelerating Id say that either everything is still riding the big bang shockwave which will run out of energy eventually or its dark energy as some theorize causing this which will also eventually run out. Then gravity will very slowly bring the expansion to a halt and begin to pull everything together Doesn't gravity have a finite sphere of influence though? What if a certain galaxy is beyond the influence of core clusters? Well, it wouldn't matter. Maybe there are galaxies floating around out there that weren't caught by the last crunch cycle. But if that's true, it means that this cycle will eventually end, and the Universe WILL continually expand.
