Getting a dragon pickaxe
Actually, when I got a D Pick there I had 72 attack, 71 strength, and 72 defence, so I don't imagine you would get to slaughtered. What you do is find a world where there are a lot of people killing the Choas dwogres and the Handcannoners but not many of the plain chaos dwarves. It took me 3 days of killing the level 48 chaos dwarves until it came, and supposedly that was pretty fast. Anyways, I just wore full torags - hammers + whip, glory, combat brace, although if you have barrows gloves i'd go with those, dragon boots, legends cape (again if you have a skill cape or fire cape that would probably be better, although there is a chance of dieing so i'd be cautious on the fire cape) and a dragon square shield. Just avoid the dwogres, take cover if the cannoners attack you, and focus on the level-48 chaos dwarves.

The new slayer monster.
I know this doesn't really have much to do with drops, but it does have to do with what the monster is. [hide=Jagex quote] [/hide] Could this possibly be the slayer monster? In terms of drops I do agree that it will be a mage or range based drop due to it being a water based monster. I think that a Mist staff would be too much of an imbalance to the game unless this monster has a unique challenge associated with killing it, such as maybe having to take a ship, then finding it with your hunter skill, lure it out of the water with mage or range (maybe an on ship cannon?), and then fighting it in it's own area. Also, this ship is not an intro to sailing  , It would be something that you would rent from a npc or something. (I appologize if this was mentioned on another thread, I haven't been able to be on the last couple days) --EDIT-- Actually, I forgot that they said that this creature will be in an addition to the slayer caves  , so nevermind about that whole luring/chasing thing I posted earlier.

Lurker's Blog to Random Awesomeness
Ok, so I was sitting there, being all cool :ugeek: , and wondering what all those gold bars were worth. So I pulled out those 60k gold bars, and Price checker Baby! I threw those bars in there and ... :o . 11 Mill. Ohh Emm Gee. That's a crap-load of Money! So of course the first thing I do is sell all of the bars and find something to spend it on  . Then I see it, The perfect Item, Something that's been constantly dropping in price the entire g.e graph, and probably won't stop. A Blue H'ween Mask. It was so Shiny, and So magnificent, and I just had to have it. So ... 80k Profit!!! Woo Hoo!! Anywho... Mining Update. about 3.3k bars mined 7006 needed for 88 smithing about 3706 left to mine. :^o :| :| :| :| :^o

Holiday Musings and a permanent solution to rares
nachalo I will say that to a certain extent I do agree with this. Now I also feel that people should still have an item that lets them prove how long they were playing, because to be one of the people in the beginning, one of the people who helped make this game stick around, they do deserve some recognition. These Items were made for fun though, not to be symbols (my opinion at least, it may be wrong), and so if somebody joins, and they really want that scythe, there should be a way to get it. Now, I remember a suggestion a tiny bit ago about a cape that would denote how long you have been playing, and those could be a solution to this. Make it so everyone can get the items, along with making them un-tradeable, but implement the capes into the game. This way people could still denote how long they've been playing, because they do deserve that respect, and others can still have fun with the holiday items. I did find a problem in your idea though, and it has to do with the Partyhats and the Christmas crackers. You said that they would became untradeable, and that the partyhat would be exactly the same. Well, you originally got a partyhat by using a Christmas Cracker on another player. Then it would randomly choose one of you to get a partyhat, and the other would get a random item (I believe a random item, but there my have just been alot of items). This would mean people could get free money through getting the Christmas Cracker, using it, and hoping for a random item. The other problem with this is that the partyhat would be untradeable, yet there is a chance the other person may get one, so wouldn't that constitute as giving somebody else a partyhat? And so you may have to make it so that you can get partyhats separately from the Christmas Cracker, and still make the Christmas Crackers available, just have them only do the animation when used, but give out no items (if they have an animation). konnets

*Achoo!!* Ich bin krank =( ... For all of you non-german speaking peeps (or if I translated that wrong :o ), I'm sick. That, combined with the fact that the last week was too important to miss, means that after going to school, I was incredibly tired, and so would go directly to bed after homework, therefore leading to the fact that I've only managed mined about 2k gold ore in the last two weeks   :(  So as an update: 2.2k gold ore mineds 7006 gold ore needed for 88 smithing. about 4806 gold ore to go. also, sorry about the long wait ilufyou =(, blame my sister =)

Feb 9 2009: The Future of Runescape
I must say, It does sound pretty cool. Looking forward to getting the surprise updates, hopefully it'll put less pressure on the Jagex team, therefore letting the updates have less bugs in them. I am also pleasantly surprised with the direct answering of questions through the forums, although it is very unfortunate how much of the community is handling themselves (it isn't really that much of a surprise though). I'm curious to see where he'll go to improve the Free-to-play game.many people do view it as a demo (myself included until now, I'll admit) and so I'm curious on how he'll update free-to-play without many of the current members getting to angry. Many members will get angry, just look back just about every bank update, when they added bounty hunter, adding the duel arena, ... etc. Hopefully the community will become a bit older and not have as many get upset, and those that do will be calmed by more mature friends. Overall I'm really looking forward to the next year or so, seeing how things change, and how things move. (and of course figuring out whats goes in those empty mining and runecraft skill screen's  )

-Your early days of runescape-
Hehe, I remember a friend showing me this crazy thing called "run escape" :wall: (he was a bit weird with pronunciations) And I spent my first week killing cows, with and axe and tinderbox (tinderbox to cook beef). I would take the beef cause "OMK, free Food dude !!" and wondering why everybody wanted the useless cowhides :?: . After that I quit for like a year cause combat sucked =P and came back when a different friend was like "Try mining you fool, it's where all of the money at" So me and him would mine tin and copper at the varrock south-west mine, then walk to the lumby furnace, and walk back up to the varrock west bank, and repeat. I got up to like 40 mining that way and felt so proud =). I would sell all of my bronze *insert highest level item I could make here* to the general store, and then went off and bought my first weapon! A !!Black Longsword!! Man I loved showing off that thing. Then my friend one-upped my by getting full mith, and this strange sword thingy-ma-bobber called a "Scimitar"?? I became determined to one up him, by collecting a whole 30k to buy full addy. So I charged to this new mining spot I had heard of to try my hand at Steel Smithing *insert dramatic sounds here* I got killed by scorps (was only like level 10) and lost my mith pick =(. Back to the cowfields I went, black longsword in hand, and killed cows until level 20 (without collecting those useless cowhides of course :wall: ), found a bronze pick, and made bronze plates until I could afford another mith pick, And then restarted My journey for "Steel Smithing" AHA! I could kill those scorps now, in my shiny bronze Armour, and awesome black longsword. Then I noticed something a bit important ... There's more than one scorp ! I hastily ran out of that place with my (non-existent) tail between my legs. I had more work to do. So I trained more, harder, up to level 30, (I made some iron amour for myself around this time) with my Black Long, at the cowfield. I thought, I need to be ready this time, I'm over double their level, They should Fear Me!! And so I headed the long journey back to Al Kahrid. I donned my helmet, grabbed some shrimps, got my pickaxe, and I was ready. I turned on the run, and charged into their wonder which scorp would attack me first. And they ignored me. They just let me walk past, I was so confused, Take this instance combined with my paranoid nature, and BOOM! it hit me. They were waiting for me to let my guard down! And so I marched to those coal rock, nervously glancing between the rocks and the scorps, mentally preparing myself for the attack, and then clicked on that coal rock. "There is currently no ore in the rock" ... ... ... "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" ... ... ... Ohhh, It changed color, Click it!!! *hit* *hit* *hit* HA! I got you, wait ... It's not in my backpack? "Mining level?" "52" Darn, he had a higher level =(, And so I didn't really know about different world at this time, so I stood at that rock for about an hour trying to get an ore, until he finally left, And I was Like "YES!!! ALL MINE!" and I mined that ore! after about 5 minutes of hearing *think* *tink* *tink* +) And so that's my story =) Sorry about the length, kinda tend to ramble everyonce and a while

Skillers are they the future?
Because they may not like combat. They may find quests and combat un-enjoyable. If you don't like something, why do it?

Skillers are they the future?
You don't understand the reason that there are skillers because you have a much differenent view on what is fun in runescape. To you combat is fun. It is the point, sure skills are ok, but you play for the combat. (this is mostly a guess based upon the way that you've responded so far.) Some people actually find skills fun. I for example happen to love mining and smithing, yet others hate it with every fiber of their being. Some people don't like combat. They don't find it fun, and the point of this game is to have fun. Another reason that some people choose to be a skiller is for the challenge. They enjoy the challenge of having to find work arounds to combat areas. Of creating their own way of training a skill that isn't the norm, isn't the same old, same old.

Smithing gold: Superheat or smelt
Well, the closest furnace would be edgeville, but I find that furnace extraordinarily annoying considering you have to open this door that only one person can go through at a time. The next closest would be the furnace on neitiznot or port phasmaty's. There are both a similar distance from a back, and the time difference would be minimal, but I would go with the one on neit, because it has a one click bank there, which is pretty nice after smithing for a while.
