  1. I was recently given a loop half key in a random event with the old man. Probably because of this sort of thing on the RSOF: 0MG T3H GL0RI3 i5 t00 hw3rd t0 g37 d0000d m4k3 i7 ch33333p d000000dzz. and gIMM3 all 99zz wh3n I s7ar7 t3h gam. :twss: :twss: :twss:
  2. I never said I thought they would close it down completely. There is probably very little reason to keep RSC online to entertain the 150-400 players on there. They do anyway. My established concern is that it would no longer be updated. I think that updates are going to be gradually scaled down in the next five years, and eventually stopped. That might even be a good thing. Then the entire game wont have to be changed every time a nub gets killed or scammed in order to "protect" them. But that is another issue. :wall:
  3. The secret to killing revs is to fight them. So many people just immediately panic and run, without even trying to put up a serious defense. I think almost all of the trouble people have with revs is the myth that they are dangerous monsters. They are a truly pathetic replacement for the real PKers, and with basic combat tactics they are nothing. As for F2P, they should just put normal pkers back in, except without the drops. You really cant make serious money quickly on f2p anyway, so the fun would be enough of an incentive to go kill there. Also, there are plenty of people, like myself, who would kill people there just to be a jerk!!
  4. Jag cannot pick and choose who plays and does not play an individual game. Fans of Jagex games will likley play other Jagex games, like how Fun Orb almost entirely relies on RS players. Except Mech Scape seems like it is intended to be truly a completely seperate game, which will then, as an mmorpg, be a competitor with RS.
  5. In 2008 Jagex CEO Geoff Iddison stated that RuneScape "will be the main investment focus for Jagex for the next five years". http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7090490.stm Of course, it is a widely known fact that that business leaders never contradict themselves.
  6. Alright, many of you might see my name and remember my previous posts and automatically assume that im going to start making some kind of argument that the wildy update or whatever is going to cause the end of this game. That is NOT the intent of the of the title of this thread. PLEASE READ THE POST before making quick assumptions. A leading figure in Jagex recently said that rs was to be Jags main objective for the next Five years. Also, recently released was a Grandmaster quest that is supposedly part of the last storyline in the RS quests. The number of quests in the Grandmaster storyline, and the Statement of a five year timeline fit nicely together, obviously. Personally, After 3 years of play, I only have 115 qp, I did Legends years ago, and I have only done several small quests since. But the end of quests implies that overall updating and development could stop in five years. Based on the way that Jag tends to focus on one thing at a time, you can almost tell how decisions are made. In 2007 they spent most of the time largely fighting RWT. IN 2008 it was all about making up for the loss of direct staking, with tons of new minigames and other pursuits. Maybe Jagex has decided to move on from runescape? They are already planning to release a new RPG, MechScape this year, and another one in 2010. Are these the final years of RS? Will Jagex throw aside RS2 as quickly as they did Classic?
  7. Yeah, I guess if you have 7 million to throw around for a back up set you probably have enough money to buy just about anything. And in that case, you could just use barrows. Dragon armour is dead, unless the remaining Kiteshield works out. But I dont think it will. When the Dragon Full Helm came out, it was slightly stronger than the top of the line Third Age Melee helm. But Jagex edited it to make the Dragon weaker then the Third Age. So you can bet that the Dragon Kite wont be any better than the Third Age Kite either. Third Age Melee seems to be some sort of cap that Jag has put on Non-degradeable armor. That really doesn't leave much room for the Dragon Kite as far as stats go, especially with the introduction of the new "Spirit shields". Unless there is some sort of special effect that hasn't been tried before, don't waste your money.
  8. I really don't care if your a nub or not, you are on the Ignore list if you get too close, ask for any favors, or anything like that. Or, if you give me too many favors, or you are a little too nice, too. I generally just avoid making "friends" on runescape. My friends list is small, only has old-timers from the pre-wildy update that I used to buy and sell form. I still talk to them every so often, but rarely. I doubt my list has more than 5 people. When someone tries to "Be Friends" with me I usually put them on the ignore list right away.My ignore list probably has 200+ people. I consider it a little embarassing to be my age and still playing runescape anyway. I play it in private, when my GF can't see me, or anyone else. It's more of an addiction than anything since 12/10/07. Did I forget to mention that the Wildy update sucked? Oh yeah. The wildy update sucks. I almost made it through a complete message without mentioning that. Wont happen again.
  9. Jagex grossly underestimated the fact that people would be willing to pay for the degrade as long as it gave them better stats. Now you will have to play for hundreds of hours before you break even with Dragon/Bandos/Third Age, and even if you do, there is still a case to be made that the armor is worth the price because of the higher stats. They should be THE SAME in up front price, with the degrade costing more in exchange for higher stats. There would actually be a reason to buy dragon then. Bandos actually has something of a case, because of the prayer and str bonus, combined with lesser negative bonuses in a number of categories. Third Age Melee is somewhat competitive with barrows(but still weaker), but no matter how powerful it is, 130M is just too expensive to be practical. But dragon has no case. It is marginally better than bandos in categories where they are both significantly weaker than barrows. Ther is no reason to wear dragon armor, not even with the new price of 11m. There is some hope for dragon, though. With the price of the Dragon Chain body falling, maybe it will be more widely used among people who are killing NPC'S for training or profit ,and don't want to take the degrade loss of barrows. The few widely used pieces of Dragon(Med Helm, Plate Legs, Boots) are mostly used for that purpose. Maybe the Dragon Kite will be the most amazing Kite in history, or will have some kind of special effect. Dragon is not completely dead, but it is very close. Untill then, im sticking with Torag's.
  10. considering that Jagex has said that there are 2 million players, 4.8 sounds good to me. Remember that it's not just ACTIVE accounts; the 13 mill would obviously include all lvl 3 accounts made out of boredom, locked, and banned accounts. Where did jagex say 2 million players? There are 130 million accounts, as of a couple of months ago when RSHD came out (one of the RS website adverts), so that's 65 accounts per player. Something's wrong here. My bad, you're right. I thought it said 13 million, not 130 million. But even if you said that it's 1.5, I would be skepticlehttp://forum.tip.it/posting.ph ... p=6288467# since that means over 40 million players ever. It's probably somewhere between 2.4-3.2 accounts per player, but now we're getting off-topic aren't we? What's wrong with 40 million players? It was 5th highest rank in Yahoo searches for this year. That's huge. Bottom line: It doesn't appear to be dying. This entire debate is just guessed numbers anyway. "this d000d said to me that back then RS had 5 players, and now it haz 40 billion." blah blah blah. I have no intentin of buying Alexa jusat to prove a point. Here is how I guess it happened: I have been looking on the RSC boards, and there could have been Autoing programs as early as March 2001(RS came out in January 2001), according to the Old-timers. Over the years, more and more customers complained to Jagex about the Auto situation. Jagex responded with its typical stonewalling. They plugged their ears, closed their eyes, and pretended that nothing was happening. During this time, autoing became bigger every day. Eventually, something bad happened to someone. Jagex made the wrong person mad. And they were given an ultimatum. This probably happened in the spring of 2007, becasue that is the first time they ever started to do anything about out the situation(other than give stern warnings on the talk page). They had years and years to take the necessary steps to stop autoing. They could have done randoms earlier, they could have introduced more p mods, they could have done all kinds of things. Instead they waited around untill the situation was completely out of control, and the only practical option was to eliminate trading and PKing. This was not a "Noble decision".
  11. No, you aren't sick of junk traders, you just want to force everyone to accept the crappy prices you offer. Becasue of the Grand Exchange, you have gotten used to the idea of jagex holding down prices, or putting in artificial floors and ceilings to benefit you, and now that we have forund a way around it you want Jag to hold your hand and save you again, at the expense of everyone else. I hope a hacker breaks in to your pathetic account and takes every item you have.
  12. Well, Im just going to assume that you have 80 slayer and tell you to go kill The level 80 Slayer Demon monster that starts with an "N" and I can't spell it, even though your stats clearly show that you don't have 80 slayer, or the attack or defense to kill such a monster. As a demon, that monster probably drops crimsons. I don't really keep track though, because I leave those stupid things on the ground. And anyway, I can tell you joined after the wildy update. OMG I HAV TO WERK 2 RAISE A SKILLZ!!!one!!!111111!!one!!! I HAT TH33333s d00000000d.
  13. 287. First of all, think of all the time you spend doing crappy tasks. Tasks that dont make money. Think of all the opportunity cost of wasting all of your time killing steel dragons, and, well, basically every other non-slayer monster on the task list(if it were up to me, only monsters with a slayer requirement would be assigned). And think of the money you get in return for keeping the slayer points. Slayer points are good for learning how to make slayer rings, and slayer helms, and a black list. I you like ranging, I guess broad tipped equipment too.(I never range) After that, what do you get? 70k per 35 slayer points. OMG T3h B3333G CASH!!111!one!!111! You are going to waste hours killing steel dragons, just to preserve lousy slayer points that dont give any money? If you get a crappy task you have to skip it. That means a loss of 30 slayer points, and a loss of 70k. So, you are putting yourself in a position where you pay out 70k in order to have the right to gamble on wether or not you will get a good assignment. Now this is going to sound crazy.....buy the solution to all of this is just to dump slayer points. Between the earnings you get, and the of pioints you will have to lose to cancel tasks, the profit from slayer dart points is negligible, especially when you factor in the opportunity cost of non-profitable assignments. There is always going to be a chain of bad tasks in a row that will cost too many points. Ignore the points after you buy all the abilities and the blacklist. Second, what the hell do you think you are proving by saying that a level 7 spider is better range experience than slayer? Since Queltar estimates the hourly range exp from avianese to be only 30k, that actually falls behind your figure for spiders. ALL YOU ARE DOING IS PROVING THAT A LEVEL 7 SPIDER is BETTER RANGE EXP THEN EVERY MONSTER INCLUDING SLAYER MONSTERS. THERE IS NO WAY TO RANGE TRAIN FAST AND MAKE A PROFIT. PERIOD (and that is why I dont train range) And finally, if you use a 7k prayer potion on Aberrant Specters, or any mnster, and expect to make a profit you are CLUELESS. "Praying" is not a strategy, its a cop out cheap shot method of drinking your way out of fighting. You just have to take food and go to the bank when you run out.
  14. Im glad to see that some people have some interest in risk around here, some pvp. If you play runescape because you think its a real good time to click a mouse on the same spot again and again for 15 hours at a time, then good for you. Response to Deviled Egg's Alexa Graph: Very clever how you cut the pre update graph off at the peak time of the year, the summer. If you compare them as far as year-to year growth is concerned(that allows for the natural fluxuations at different times of the year) there is little to compare. In november 07 it looks like it was slightly higher. Also, do you really think that one day in early July, all of the sudden the number of players doubled in one day? There is some credit that needs to be given to the points brought up by Dream Reaper. In december 07' was definately higher, but that can be attributed to high school christmas breaks, and we are only 12 days into this december. And maybe because of the outrage over the ruining of this game. I remember those riots. I thought that it was hopeless, and they were randomly banning people who dared disagree with Mod Paul The Great, so I didn't join in. And Dream Reaper that is a great sig! Do you know where I can get it?

I've noticed a number of people around the game and around this board complaining that they dont recive respect for their skillcapes. Not so long ago we had no skill capes. If you were a 99, you just either proved it with high scores or just shut up about it. The skill capes, like so many other changes Jagex has made, were a big mistake. They have turned this game into a race to level 99, by a bunch of wieners who want "Respect". Who cares about "Respect"? Why cant you just play the game? People have less respect for the Feltching and Cooking skill capes, because they just aren't as hard to get as the others. You must understand that it is harder to get a Slayer or Construction Skillcape. You can't just sit down one day, and write up a neat little plan on how you are going to get 99 Slayer or Construction in a few days, or even a week. Practically all I do in Runescape is Slayer, to train and make money, and Pvp. I have been doing this for nearly 4 years now, and I am nowhere near a 99 level in slayer. You whiny moaners can't expect respect for having 99 in a skill that well over 50,000 people have level 99 in. If you get a skill cape for the stats that is fine, but if you go around demanding respect for a cape that takes maybe 4 days to get, you are wrong. Feltching Nub!!!! LAWLZZ!!
  16. why are you so paranoid about being called a nub? Does it really get under your skin like that? Lawlz omg nublet.
  17. Yeah I have been here lurking here for a while, and I have noticed you in particular have a habit of making unsourced statements or citing "Studies" that have never ben confirmed by a third party(especially in your "Slayer Sucks" Topic). I have heard the rumor that there was some kind of lawsuit in the works against Jagex if they didnt get RWT under control, but that is what that is. A Rumor. Not a fact. It has never been confirmed anywhere. There are other ways that RWT could have been stopped. Jag decided though that they could kill two birds with one stone-stop losers like you from jamming their message centers with "OMG I gawt PK3d its s0 m34n im g0nn4 kill u" and halt RWT. I still play RS, and maybe saying it "died" is a little too dramatic. But a major part of Runescape was shut down that day, nobody can deny that. "VASTLY improved" In your opinion. You are not the final say on whther or not It has been improved. Im sure there are 60,000 people somewhere who would agree with me. Neither are you. I'm sure there are 60,000 people somewhere who would agree with me. Since you seem to be so fond of shouting down things, perhaps you could explain your own ideas to rid the game of unbalanced trades? Oh, and as for the 'slayer sucks', feel free to post on that thread if you disagree with anything. I'm not sure what studies your talking about, but there could be a few out there. I usually provide sources; occasionally I forget, but I always supply them upon request. Simple anti-macroing software could have handled this issue. They could have altered the drops so that macros would have no way of getting to them.Think of Rick Turpentine. All you have to do is CLICK on him and random event= over. They could have had increased player moderation of the wildy. They could have made an unlimited trade conditional based on a quest or something that would take the amount of time only a legit player would be willing to waste. Without macros, there is no RWT. Macros were the problem, not Pkers. How the hell would it be profitable for any business to spend hours every day PKing to get the gold? Macros were the problem. PKing was just one of the methods the Macros used to transfer the gold. I got tricked into going to one of those sites one time and 1 m goes for about 8 bucks. That would take days to make any significant profit in the old wildy, because most people just took rune or d hide into the wildy. This wildy change was not aimed at stopping RWT. It was a marketing decison to throw their old faithful under the bus and addict 5 year olds to an online game in an unhealthy way. I think there is a misconception about my post. Im not complaining that I was killed. Im complaining that that risk, that part of the game was removed. I bet you loved this update. Now you can just walk in back anf forth from the bank for 23 hours straigght uninturrupted. Fun, huh. No thanx.
  18. You dont even get it. That was part of the game. There was RISK involved. You HAD to go to the wildy. Now, it is effortless to make millions of dollars with maybe a week of RC. The Revs are just not the same.
  19. Well, yes, I agree. And If Jag had just got some simple anti macroing software they wouldnt need randoms. But I suppose that just isn't "in the spirit" of the game. They wouldn't have needed to ruin Pking and Trading either.
  20. Look you can see the people who ruined this game if you read it. Its like a histroy of the ruining of this game. This thread. Already in September there wer a bunch of little wieners:omg i hat t3h pvp because i cant ween in one match!!!!!one11 This is the reason this game was destroyed a few months later.

  22. I remember when first played runescape. I remeber how it used to be.It was just before the Slayer Skill came out. I became a member shortly after that, because I had finished Dragon Slayer and there was no direction to what I was doing anymore. I started getting assignments that required Mage Melee Defense, so I wanted to get Dragon hide. I pushed my range up to 40 in a few hours. Without doing any research, I decided to go kill a few Green Dragons and get the hide to ake the D Hide armor myself, get the crafting exp. I knew I would have to go to the wilderness. Some guy in the Edgeville bank said he would protect me if I paid him 30k up front and 30k upon getting to the dragons. I wanted the crafting exp, and the pride in making the armor without buying it, so I agreed. He took my money and led me into the wildy. After a while we ran into a clan. He pm'ed me telling me to run. I Ran, but two dots on my indicator were running toward me. I ran back the other way, back to the guy who I paid, but he didnt help. I tried to punch his buddies and he laughed because he had told me to put all my weapons and armour away back at the bank for "Security- u dont want to die and lose the value". I was surronded and I was killed a few seconds later. They laughed and said "Stupid nub" and "good fight, u tried". And I laughed too. I didn't cry. I didn't complain about their "Igonrance". I didn't go onto the RS forums and complain. I didn't do any of these things, because unlike many of these whiny brats, I understand that this is just a game. I screwed up and got killed. It was kinda letdown, but it was exciting and fun. And I later fooled a few nub myself. With a clan. Shoot me. Sue me. Say im Ignorant. Say I never learned my "lessons". How about trying to grow up a little too. You whiners ruined this game. Now everything is "fair". No risks. No faillure. No fun. This game is a breeze now, and the same idiots who complain about It being that way, like Queltar, are the ones who backed all these stupid changes. IF YOU DONT WANT TO RISK ANYTHING, THEN DONT PLAY THE GAME TO BEGIN WITH. DON'T SCREW IT UP FOR EVERYONE ELSE. 12/11/07- THE DAY RS DIED. AND I WILL NEVER GET OVER IT.
