Hegemony
On account of me being rather bored. A recent turn of events has put an admittedly strange candidate into the South African Prime Minister's office. After a standoff between the two largest political parties (upon which neither could agree or compromise) an unexpected candidate has been chosen. The man goes by the name of Johannes Van Zyl and is the son of an older businessman. His position on both reform, crime and the defense of African nations against outside domination were however his main selling points. While not a great orator his promises in his speech (To help with housing in the slums; to cut the mounting crime rates in the cities and to make South Africa a major technological powerhouse) did not go unheard and he is enjoying moderate support throughout the country. Only time will tell if that support will continue and if he must stay true to the 8 goals and methods of achievement that he has proposed.

What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?
If just played through both Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3. I must say I enjoyed new vegas much more than 3. I'm currently playing through mass effect as well (both one and two).

It looks rather interesting. We will be using the real world map correct? So to clear something up; high prestige makes it easy to form alliances with NPC countries correct?

Resistance I have a question; have you looked into the pathfinder chronicles setting? Before you start homebrewing a race I would advise looking through the existing ones to see if one of them fits your needs. Oh and have you read through the river kingdoms players guide? If you want to homebrew a race then I would advise you to copy and paste the stats from the srd onto this page and then put a second copy up with your modifications highlighted.

I would like to have a session in 15 minutes (at the regular time)

I would honestly prefer if you did not. I would advise that you look through the srd for any races that fit what you are looking for. While I have no problem with homebrew I would prefer it if you looked for something that fit what you were going for before trying to homebrew a race (that may not fit with the given setting).

The Back Room
What do you have in mind? I would have to look through any homebrew races you come up with (simply for balance reasons) though. Honestly I would prefer if you just used a race from either the players guide or the beastiaries though.

The Back Room
Erm you could have a pool of wounds that a character has and give magic a cost in life force (Lets say bob the sorcerer has 15 wounds, Bob casts flame strike a spell with a 1/2 wound cost. The flame strikes. Bob now has 14 1/2 wounds). You could also have a magic "skill" effect the number of wounds required to cast a spell. Let's say Fred the muscle wizard with a magic skill of 10 casts punch! a spell with a wound cost of 1. However his level 10 rate of reduction gives him 1/2 of the wounds (because he has to use less of his life force to attain the same effect). With the magic costing wounds system you could also have the option of adding amounts of wounds to a spell to give it a more potent effect. (Ex. Bob the sorcerer with a magic skill of 10 casts flame strike at a were-goat. However desperate times call for desperate measures and Bob puts 4x the usual amount of power into the flame resulting in a 2 wound spell before his level 10 wound reduction comes into play. This lowers it to a cost of 1 wound out of his total)

Any chance you could tell us the general genre of what you were planning (that and the general tone you intend) so Thog the not so friendly barbarian doesn't end up in new york city fighting crime (though he may still end up doing just that if you run a point buy system like mutants and masterminds).

The Back Room
If you look through esoteric systems enough you'll find rules for just about everything (like a game built for swashbukling or a game based off of medieval Japan or a game about the zombie apocalypse) though they are hard to find without use of amazon (or other less savory methods). EDIT: And there's a STAR WARS RPG (both d20 and its own system iirc) as well as Mutants and Masterminds (d20 based around comic books) and traveller (scifi) as well as (as ross said) Rogue trader (sandbox sci fi set in the 40k universe) and Dark Heresy (focused sci fi set in the 40k universe) as well as games based around playing as a vampire (white wolf games). Then there's the dresden files rpg (very story driven which is based off of a different system and set in a fairly open to interpretation world) and shadowrun (near future, cyberpunk with magic. Own system as well as a d20 adaption)

The Back Room
It really sounds like what you're doing/wanting to do is something along the lines of Hunter but possibly with a d20 system?

The Back Room
From what I have heard the World of Darkness system has an add on/setting that would work well as well. Obviously if you want to run a game any system is unnecessary (but the ready made rules makes things a fair bit easier). That being said, I think d20 modern is the only system listed that has a srd.

The Back Room
On a note to nex, there are several good systems that could be used to run the type of game you seem to be interested in (Shadow run/ dresden files RPG [to a certain degree]/ GURPS cyberpunk) Pm me for details about them.

The group found a lost temple of Erastil and killed a couple of tatzylwyrms that got your character a set of +1 champion scale mail.
