The Back Room
http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=3136 (This should be the graphics set that I am using) The zip of the save folder is uploading as well. Should we make a thread for this (provided that we give a drawn out report of how the fort did so it's roleplaying)? EDIT: Here is the zipped save file. http://www.mediafire.com/?iikmm3uchph7ntn

The Back Room
Well the thing is that from the start and the z level above it are dry (the there is only water) and below it there are a couple of layers of clay before descending into rock (slate/lignite/rock needed for casts).

The Back Room
Well if you wanted I could start writing up my entry for the continuation game now and upload the save file (I'm using the ironhand tiles/textures thing). The only real claim to fame about this fortress is that it's under the sea (so aqua goblins?) though.

The Back Room
Retech if we were to use my save file there is no aquifer (at least that I have discerned) and the temp is warm. There are not too many animals as two z levels above my fort is the freaking ocean.

The Back Room
I think you just need to copy the save from your folder and upload it to either mediafire or tinyupload or another site like it.

What would you guys say to a continuation game of dwarf fortress? (We could use the new fortress I am starting out or someone who is far better at this game could start it out).
-
The Back Room
Nice icu! As a question to the dwarf fortress crowd; should I start up a new fortress if my current one is kind of sprawled out (and seems to be on the verge of a tantrum spiral)?

Baldur's Gate 2
If you guys want I could easily join (I wouldn't be able to make the friday session [homecoming day] but I could easily make a weekend one) I'd probably end up playing something nonessential like a bard or an inquisitor paladin though.

The Back Room
Heh forgotten beast (lets see how this plays out).

The Back Room
Erm why do you need above ground farms? I'm doing quite well with just a few fisher dwarfs (an underground system I rigged that uses a grate to keep out the nasties but lets the normal fish in) and a good 100 cavern tiles for farming.

The Back Room
You should probably wall in the dwarf's workshop (or simply almost wall it in and add doors) in a precaution for him going insane. On a side note should I use traps to kill the goblins caught in the goblin grinder or simply marksdwarves?
-
The Back Room
Work has begun on the Goblin Grinder (as that seems to be the simplest one)
-
The Back Room
What type of trap should I build? I'm thinking of a goblin grinder (or possibly a noble room situated directly over the entrance to actually make them useful give them a commanding view of a siege). Or hell I could use the pitfall type trap as well.

Earth have you checked tpb?

The Back Room
Yeah... that was a bit of an odd period. In other news I have been thinking of revamping the Ye olde High Fantasy Hegemony into something quite a bit more mage punk based upon Harry Turtledove's Darkness Series while stripping out the various types of magic in lieu of just arcane magic.

As a question towards ross/anyone who knows, are there still underground rivers in this current version of DF?
-
The Back Room
How do you people deal with overcrowding of fortresses? Currently I'm creating layers upon layers of dormitories branching off (with doors and traps) from the drop shafts.

Rocco and Mather as a tavernite who does not really want or need any more admin intercession I advise you to take this into AIM or MSN or Whatever the hell you use (Remember the don't have a censor in chat ;) )

No one want to share their opinions? I'm guessing it flows slightly better in norwegian. But if you want my opinion as sad songs go it's pretty good, I would have personally ended it on a slightly more optimistic note (but then again I dislike "sad songs"). Overall though it's not that bad and with some slight fine tuning it should be pretty good. May I ask if you are using an instrumental accompaniment?

Retech another way of defending your home is to set up a labyrinth of traps (and have a row of pressure plates at the end seal the door at the entrance) that is kept open (the goblins will go in and then they will all die). The only problem is getting to the bodies (which can be solved by forbidding the door). EDIT: Two immigrants... Then 15 more. The [bleep]?

The Back Room
Heh... operation easy access is completed. What I did was create massive clay floored store rooms that linked down (through ramps/stairs) to various workshops. Each one of these drop shafts had tunnels that intersected the other ones to allow even easier movement of dwarfs. Naturally they are also loaded to the brim with traps (LETS SEE THE ELEPHANTS GET ME NOW). I am currently working on creating a magma flood trap (ala "Boatmurdered")

The Back Room
Is it just me or is stone irritating as [bleep] to stockpile in (how do you quantum stockpile anyways?). Thusly I have decided to have all of my stockpiles and workshops (that don't use stone/metal) in clay (if at all possible)

The Back Room
Hmm should I just have one entrance to my fortress and put my trading depot in it or have multiple entrances with doors (and traps) leading out towards wood?
-
Baldur's Gate 2
How good is the Skald Bard kit? Because that seems to be a useful one (gain mage spells as well as the ability to use melee weapons)

Baldur's Gate 2
Earth this is pretty much like ross's D&d in that you really have to show up when it's on. I could in theory do a barbarian or some sort of caster (How powerful are clerics in game [is there metamagic?])
