Both my girlfriend and I voted yes. It's a classic odd couple pairing that promises to be hilarious.
  2. In this case it does. Why do you continue to deflect from the fact that playing WoW is not the same as forced goldmining for hours on end, day in and day out, under threat of physical punishment?
  3. "...in Heilongjiang province from 2004 still haunt Liu." Haunt. Sounds like a wonderful place to pass the time. What's your point, exactly? That because they don't call it a "prison" that it's some kind of country club?
  4. "We worked 12-hour shifts at camp." :-s I'm sorry, you seem to have missed the point of what I was saying. I wasn't arguing the 12-hour shifts, merely how others might interpret it. I was, however, pointing out how even if that 12 hours was spent playing a video game, something you have repeatedly laughed at, could be considered torture. Have you been reading your own posts?
  5. They worked in 12-hour shifts. Some day shift, some night shift. Nowhere in the article is it implied or confirmed that they worked 24/7. Do you honestly believe that prisoners in such an oppressive society as China would be held to a North American style of shift work? Before you start hurling insults at me as well, yes I have worked shift work and in my current job have worked as much as 26 hours straight when needed. I'm quite certain I have a good idea of what a hard day's work is. As others pointed out earlier, and I will try again, it is stated that they would work both day and night at both manual labor and then farming gold It's the very first paragraph in the article. For the sake of argument, let's say they did keep them to a 12-hour shift only. Have you ever been forced to do anything for 12 hours straight? I don't mean forced in the sense of "I need to get this term paper done" or "my boss will yell at me if I don't finish this proposal", but forced as in "if I don't farm enough gold I'll get beaten with a pipe". Neither have I (thank Saradomin). As much fun as playing a video game for 12 hours might sound, if you were being made to do the same activity over and over again with the threat of being beaten if you didn't perform you would be stressed and worried the entire time and after a while that would start to wear on you both physically and mentally. Not all torture is physical in nature.
  6. Epic F2P Smith level, Z! <3: Only three more. We expect it by the end of the weekend, you slacker! BTW - which ingots are you doing, steel or iron?
  7. corrupt prison officials, corrupt local officials, corrupt party members.... this is china, EVERYBODY is corrupt. In communist China, the government corrupts you!
  8. The disproportionate features might have been intentional, like in a graphic novel or video game. The shading is excellent indeed. I hope you're going to keep working on the background, Axe. I'd really like to see it when it's done.
  9. Not so many decades before that women weren't people under the law, so does that mean that it would still be okay if other cultures treated women like that? Oh, wait. That actually happens, and we all get upset over it. Also, I'm pretty sure those children you're referring to were not hit with metal pipes and allowed to have a proper night's sleep. I don't recall who said it, but I once read (and I'm paraphrasing here) "You can judge a society on how it treats is prisoners.".
  10. Hmm...let the other players throw rocks at the characters convicted of botting and then take their stuff? :-k It would certainly make for some interesting community events.
  11. How much joy can I get from an activity if there are so many bots that I can't do it? There are non-repetitive ways of training skills in RS? :-s
  12. I didn't know that. How do you change your name through FunOrb? I just tried and it said that it was only available to members. Or is available if you're not a RS member but are a FunOrb member?
  13. The Dwarven Mine next to the resource dungeon, the Mining Guild, the Rimmington mine, the Al'Kharid Mine; pretty much anywhere that allows for decent xp/hr. Unfortunately Mining doesn't seem to get much faster once you can one-hit iron. Whether or not I get ores seems to be based more based more on server ping then my level. You're right, it is a choice to break rules. What bothers me is the mindset that people can do what they want without having to take the rules that they agreed to into consideration. It's true Jagex is not a deity (what government is?), but they are the governing body of the community that we are a part of and as such they decide upon the rules of that community (not unlike how this very forum has rules decided upon by the people in charge). When we chose to be a part of that community, we agreed to abide by it's rules. Botting is breaking the rules, and that bothers me. Besides, I'm F2P. I'm never going to rank very high on the high scores, so that's not even a concern for me.
  14. I have fun mining, but it's hard to do that when all the training spots are full of bots. Besides, it's not that bots make the game less fun, after all I can always train other skills that they don't affect like DG, but the fact they're not only being lazy but breaking the rules that bothers me. Seeing people blatantly flaunting their disregard for the rules has always rubbed me the wrong way.
  15. Dag. Give your stat sig a chance to catch up.
  16. You, sir, are so pro. :shades:
  17. I meant the iron rocks next to the level 15 resource dungeon, not the level 45 one inside the guild; but I see your point. :)
  18. I have some new additions to your list: - Rimmington Mine - Al'Kharid Mine - Dwarven Mine next to the resource dungeon - Daemonhiem
  19. Congratulations!
  20. I'm pretty sure that was there before, Blyaunte. Either way, I wonder where it goes.
  21. My internet connection has been kind of glitchy the past couple of days so I haven't been able to get much done. However, I was able to finally get a Magical Blastbox as a drop from a Forgotten mage! Goodbye basic death rune bind, hello ready-made offensive spells. Unfortunately, my RC isn't high enough to craft deaths, but even with my poor connection I was able to start and leave floors easily enough to get enough deaths and craft enough airs to fully charge it. I haven't really been using magic while DG'ing because I didn't want to waste the extra inventory slots, but now I have a feeling I'll be using it a lot more; especially on the Forgotten warriors. They're a real pain for me to take out with just melee. Hopefully I can get my internet fixed so I can play for more than 5 minutes at a time without the connection dropping out. :wall:
  22. Congrats on 71 Ranged and an excellent total level. Forgive what is probably a noobish question, but what's "BoB"? "Baby on Board"? "Boots on Backwards"? "Babes on Broadway"? Now that would be worth posting some pictures of.
  23. The most interesting NPC in the world?
  24. I got that message last night when I tried to log in. For the first time that day. I was worried until I remembered I'd been DG'ing and didn't have anything on me but my ring. Changed my password just to be safe though.
