Do you believe in "aliens"
I'd say that it's relevant to the alien debate:

What would you do if you had a week left to live
That's the best answer yet. It's a waste to spend your money on someone who won't be alive in a week. Instead see it as an opportunity to give your belongings to people that deserve a better life. People living in poverty just because they're born in the wrong place at the wrong time. In fact, you'll always have this opportunity but it would probably be easier to give something away, when you know you won't be able to use it anyway.

The Power of Bubs *!video now up!*
The dancing actually fits very well with the song as they are equally disturbing. I really admire the commitment you guys have. If we look beyond everything that's inappropriate, we can actually all learn something - stick to your promises no matter how stupid they were.

Do you believe in "aliens"
The Bible isn't scientific literature so it's difficult to compare creation stories and scientific stories. However, I still think that there are some things in the book genesis that are difficult to fit in with the theory of evolution. Evolution offers no clear distinction between animals and humans. The Bible says that we're the image of God, put on earth to rule all other species and animals are basically our food. The idea that all animals are equal is to me absurd but if we're just another animal it actually seems to make sense. I think it undermines the creation story to some extent. The creation story suddenly doesn't mean much of what it actually says. I've never studied any actual evidence for it. All information I have is either from people who believe the current scientific model is correct or from people who believe it's wrong. So it's more up to which people I trust are more likely to tell the truth. Haven't you and other people with you been saying that evolution is the one and only explanation on the scientific side? That it's not a theory among theories and that it's THE theory. If I was a strong believer that there was nothing beyond nature, I don't see how life could've originated otherwise. I'm sure just by looking at some premises. If you're a theist you believe in God. Therefore you open up the possibility of a omnipotent God. An omnipotent God could've done anything and of course created life without following the principles of the theory of evolution. I also have an example of a swedish geologist Mats Molen(swedish wiki unfortunately) who once was a theistic evolutionist. But as he studied science, he found it more and more difficult to believe in the theory of evolution and eventually became a creationist.

Do you believe in "aliens"
I'd say it's just a matter of time. Sooner or later I will find that apple. There's a reason why we don't build towers anymore to find God but instead spend a lot of money to try and find alien life in space. It's because we should be able to find it. There are lots of religions with gods who have nothing to with the Bible. I believe the Bible is the truth and that God is the one the Bible tells us about. I'm questioning parts of the evolution theory. Parts such as common descent and macroevolution. I don't understand how that suddenly means that I'm denying sceince altogether. No, i don't think my attitudes toward anything are entirely independent of faith. I was thinking more like finding Jesus body and proving that something completely different than what the Bible says happened. You've said yourself that there are some gaps in the evolution theory. I'm not saying that the entire evolution theory is wrong, Basically to rephrase: "everything about the evolution theory isn't written in stone". Evolution becomes the only option if you believe that there is nothing else than nature. If you open up for the supernatural pretty much anything could've happened. Theistic evolutionists simply believe that evolution and christianity are compatible. They don't shut the door for another explanation. However, there's no need for them to search for another explanation as they've accepted evolution.

How much is Music in your life?
Music hasn't really been a big interest of mine and probably still isn't. I'm too lazy to look for music or search through heaps of terrible music to find something I like. But great music seem to find me somehow, either through friends, movies, radio or talent shows on TV. If I hear a song that I like I look it up on youtube and listen to it there. I've never bought a CD and I can go weeks without really listening to music. But like today when I saw Swedish Idol, I heard someone sing Timbaland - Apologize (feat. One Republic) and I really liked the song. So now I'm listening to it on youtube.

Supernatural concepts can't be determined true or false using scientific method or mathematical reasoning. You can search through the entire universe and not find God but still claim God exist. This is not the case with aliens. If there is alien life we should be able to find it. Though this doesn't mean that supernatural concepts such as God has nothing to do with evidence of any kind. There is always anecdotal evidence, the Bible, Jesus or philosophical arguments. The problem is that even if you prove that the Bible is complete rubbish you still haven't disproved God. However, it would mean that you have undermined christianity. The problem with evolution is that it according to me conflicts with the Bible. You're going to say it doesn't so it becomes a matter of interpretation. Some interpretations are compatible with evolution and some aren't. If you think that there is a conflict between evolution and the Bible you have to choose which one to believe in. As for now I don't think that evolution is written in stone. It's really only when you're a metaphysical naturalist that evolution is the only option. Perhaps we shouldn't go down this road again though.

Call me when you've seen alien life and I'll join you.

Do you believe in "aliens"
Supernatural concepts require faith. The concept of aliens shouldn't require faith. Therefore I have no reason to believe in aliens as they will either be found or not be found in the future. Mathematical reasoning doesn't say if there's anything out there, it merely gives us the odds for something being out there.

I can't believe I managed to overlook that, now I must reevaluate everything that I've said.

And I agree. But this isn't about anecdotal evidence, but the mathematical reasoning behind each. We're not arguing that they've visited Earth, just that the odds that there is other [intelligient] life in the universe is as close to 100% as you can get. Ghosts, on the other hand, have no proof as of yet, and because of their supernatural base there is no way to mathematicaly analyze the probability that they exist somewhere in the universe. Therein lies the problem with comparing the two. Why? The odds are staggering. No need to childishly clutch on to dogma until you see everything with your own eyes. If you did that, you'd never learn, or at least you'd learn very slowly and only from your own experiences. I'll learn about alien life the day it's proven to exists. That's quick enough for me. I'm not in a hurry, I have no need to jump to conclusions.

I wouldn't say ghosts are BS just because it's something supernatural. The problem is that ghosts probably never will be proven and will always require some kind of faith. Alien life should be easier to prove. Belief in ghosts and aliens are quite similar if you only look at the aspect of lack of evidence. Therefore I value UFO sightings about the same as ghosts sightings. Of course if scientists claim that they've found life in the universe and have sufficient evidence, I won't have any good reasons not to believe in it. But until then, I just won't.

Do you believe in "aliens"
Because ghosts are really suggesting something a lot different than aliens. The reason so many are inclined to believe other life is out there is just because of the shear mathematical probability that there is other planets supporting of life out there, and likewise at least some that has life on them. It's difficult to compare ghost and aliens by the mathematical probability of them to exist. However, I'd say that there are probably more witnesses who claim they've seen ghosts rather than aliens. What I'm addressing is those who say they don't believe in ghost because they've never seen any. I just doubt they've seen any aliens either.

Do you believe in "aliens"
Short answer: No. I suppose it's possible but until I've seen any evidence of it I won't believe it. It's also interesting why people are quick to dismiss ghosts but leave the door wide open for aliens, despite the lack of evidence.

Evil: Choice or Instinct
(1) Loving to commit particular sins is pretty much the same thing as loving sin. (2) The key is free will. Adam knew what the consequences of his actions were. Yet he chose to defy God's will knowing it would mean he would surely die. You can question why God planted such a tree there. Perhaps free will wouldn't mean much if it was impossible to do anything wrong. If we want true free will, perhaps we must have good and bad choices to choose between. I'm just speculating. However, I think there's a reason for us to repent and ask for forgiveness. If we never repent and ask for forgiveness, we gradually make sinning something normal and okay. Perhaps the first time we sin really make us feel bad, but when we've done the same thing over and over lots of times, it won't be as significant anymore. The first time it's a pretty big threshold to overcome, but the 100th time that threshold is practically gone unless you always repent and ask for forgiveness. I think forgiveness whether it's to God or to your friend is very important. It reminds us that some things aren't okay and that we shouldn't do them.

What does your username mean? Why did you chose it?
I came up with the name when I played Dragon Court. I just wanted a name that wasn't taken and didn't include random numbers. As I moved on to RuneScape I realized that the name rhymes with a part of the male anatomy if pronounced in a certain way. There's really no reason why I chose it other than its availability as a username in most games.

Evil: Choice or Instinct
(1) Some people love to kill. Serial killers seem to get some kind of satisfaction from it. Sin is a wide concept, just because you don't like to kill doesn't mean you don't love other sins. (2) We are inherently evil since the initial choice made by Adam. We weren't inherently evil from the beginning. So if you want to blame someone, blame Adam.
-
Evil: Choice or Instinct
The Bible or what I think is the same thing or at least that's my intention. If evil means doing things that are morally wrong then yes I'm inherently evil. Seeing as I try to do good and want to do good but still end up doing a lot of things that are morally wrong. I believe all humans inherently love sin, the difference is how we look at the problem. Either we accept sin as a part of our life/life-style, or we repent and seek forgiveness.

My issues with Athiests.
Intelligent design is not God guided evolution. Just a hint of what it's about: I can't really understand where you get the idea to defend ID and evolution as if they were on the same page. There are also many types_of_creationism.
-
My issues with Athiests.
Sure, God could've triggered the Big Bang and then idly watched as things happened. When talking about a non-specific God, I have no problem with your example. However, I'm not interested in what a God could've done. I'm interested in what actually happened. The Bible claims to be the truth and the book of genesis tells us about the creation of the universe. I don't think anything in genesis points toward evolution. And a lot of it is difficult to fit in with evolution. If there was no conflict or even issues whatsoever between the Bible and evolution, there wouldn't be a Creation-evolution controversy.
-
My issues with Athiests.
And you of course think everyone agrees with you? Problems generally don't arise when one person expresses his views. Problems generally arise when there is a conflict of views among people. If you don't accept that evolution is an issue in the religion vs atheism debate, I don't really have much more to say to you. We should also all listen to the Simpsons:
-
My issues with Athiests.
I'm saying that in an evolution vs religion debate we have a demarcation problem. Example is Intelligent design which is not pure science but has some aspects of science. Evolution might be pure science but when it conflicts with the Bible we can no longer have a pure scientific debate as the Bible isn't science.
-
My issues with Athiests.
Why? So that we can have another religion vs evolution debate? If you really want to know, just read genesis.
-
My issues with Athiests.
Evolution is clearly an issue as pretty much every religious debate revolves around evolution. Just because it's a part of science doesn't mean it has nothing to with religion. There is always the Demarcation problem. An example would be: If science conflicts with my religion, which should have the most authority? You can't give a scientific answer to that question. You can however point to the strength of some scientific evidence, but you can also point to the strength of a philosophical/religious argument or a religious experience.
