I agree it's not clearly shown on earth. However, you could argue that all beatiful things in nature must have a creator or something similar. I don't see that as any real evidence, but saying that there is nothing that points towards his existence seems strange when there are such a vast amount of believers. I'm not saying these are strong arguments but my questions to you are really: Why do you think there are people like myself who are devout christians? Why do we want answers to metaphysical questions?
  2. Everything comes down to what you think of the Bible. Do you believe you are free to choose what's true and what's not true, or do you believe it's the truth regardless of how inconvenient that truth is. I just can't accept that we should bend the Bible to fit our society. It completely takes away the authority of the Bible. Everything in the Bible would be completely black or white to me without the fact that we must interpret the Bible to fully understand what it's saying. You do have a vaild point when you're implying that christian fundamentalist often focus on the wrong things. But there's a risk of going from there and saying that the only relevant part of the Bible is to love eachother, or something other equally vague. That just doesn't seem right.

There is nothing that points towards any of that to be true, choosing God is obviously less rational than being agnostic. Any belief in a particular God is circular, and illogical. If this was a fair contest he would actally stand a chance against logic. Everything we have on earth points to the fact the christian God does not exist, if this was a fair contest, that would not happen. Your argument is like you are pre-supposing that your God clearly exists to everyone in the world. Our whole debate is based on the assumption that God exists. If it didn't we'd have to start all over with the question "Does God exist or not?".

You have a somewhat valid point. But I'm thinking God is being fair and everyone will have the opportunity to recieve the gift of faith. Then again I can't be sure if I would have been a christian unless I grew up in a christian family. That brings me to either the first conclusion or that we are predestined to go to heaven or hell, an idea which I'm not very found of. What is uncompassionate about this: God created man to live in a relationship with him. We were given free will. We choose to sin. Our relationship with God was broken. However, he still loved us, so instead of abandoning us, he sent his son to fix what was broken. That means we are now eligible to enter heaven. Though we can still choose not too as God has not taken away our free will.

We were given his revelation in the Bible. It's sufficient information in my opinion. The Amazon creates a problem I can only speculate about. But that dosen't do any good to anyone. I can't know whether you or the amazon guy are going to heaven or hell, only God knows. Being compassionate is not about ignoring evil and being indifferent to human's choices.

God wants to eliminate all sin and evil. We are sinful. God wants to eliminate us. It's not morally bad to punish evil. It's morally good to punish evil.

God has done everything he can to save us. Unfortunately he also gave us free will. If you throw a life buoy to someone drowning, the person will still drown unless he accepts to grab hold of the life buoy.
  8. It's MalmÃÆÃâÃâö, Lappland, smÃÆÃâÃâörgÃÆÃâÃâÃÂ¥sbord and your swedish sentences doen't make too much sense. What you wrote means: Here thinks fun (fun is not a swedish word but I guess you mean fun in english)! Sweden is a best countrier (lander is not a swedish word, however "land" means country). You got GÃÆÃâÃâöteborg right though :)
  9. I could agree with taking the boat to Helsinki. The time on the boat is usually really fun. Although, make sure it's a round-trip as you don't want be stuck in Helsinki. Other than that I would suggest you to enjoy an ice cream at Ersta Terass. The view is great and how can you go wrong with ice cream in the summer?
  10. Of course it's worth the angst. Angst isn't necessarily a bad thing. According to Martin Heidegger the true character of life is revealed in angst. I think it's great that you stir up emotions. A debate with emotions is much more interesting than for example a thread asking if you're older or younger than your siblings. The only downside is the risk of it turning into a flame war. There is nothing wrong with looking for the truth. However, I don't think science is where you will find the truth. Science doesn't produce truth, only useful models of reality. I'm currently living my life thinking I have found the truth. And by believing that I've found the truth, my life's top priority is to follow that truth.

I tried the same thing, google for "Korskin". Kind of funny thing came up as the 6th result on google: Korskin google search It's some RuneScape cheating program and apparently some guy named "Korskin" commented on it saying:
  13. I'm happy with the last local government (municipal) election as my mom was elected into the municipal executive board. The national voting also had a good result, as the party I voted for along with its allied parties were able to obtain majority in the Swedish Parliament. The only thing I'm complaining about was a sudden, uncharacteristic proposition by the Christian Democrats, saying that Sweden should be open for abortion tourism. It was not only wrong in my opinion but also stupid as they will probably lose popularity due to the amount of christian voters.
  14. Yeah, it even makes people want to rape goats. If we're going to broaden the definition of a natural force I might aswell throw in God. He's the creator of everything, therefore God > natural forces.
  15. Blake Lewis - Time of the season American Idol for the win.
  16. I really enjoyed German class in high school. With out first teacher we had something called Deutsche Monats Tag. Basically one day of the month we all brought something good to eat and drink, played games and had fun. We also spent half a year making a movie about snow white and some other stuff. Me and another guy tried to edit the movie on a computer but my friend accidently in his words "clicked on u-install" and our movie was gone forever. Unfortunately our first teacher had to quit and the replacement teacher didn't let us keep our "Monats Tag". But we had some good times with her aswell. One time we all but one decided to hide in the classroom before she got there. She asked the one person who wasn't hiding where everyone else were but he said he didn't know. Though it didn't take too long until she saw some people who had hidden behind the curtains and realised what was going on. I guess we weren't the most mature class, nor did we learn too much but we had some great laughs.

It's hard to know what Hell involves . But it's pretty obvious from what the Bible says, that Hell is a reality. And that only the righteous will go to heaven, since there is no place for sin in heaven. Unfortunately our free will seem to make us eligible for Hell. So the answer is simply: Yes.

I think I'm wondering if you think good or bad is something you must learn. And if so what decides if it's good or not? Sidenote: Ended up in Purgatory according to the test.

This doesnt really need to be explained, because a good person is for the most part universal. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". That pretty much sums it up. Explain how they are universal then. How do we know what's right or wrong? Good or evil? If you need some book to know the difference between good and evil, err... ya. I'm pretty sure most people know how to be a good person, especially with all the precedents and examples we have. It's a willpower thing, not a "omg, is killing an innocent person wrong?" thing. So we know how to be good due to all the precedents and examples we have? Or are you saying that we know how to do good because we are willing to do good?

What exactly is your definition of a good person?

I definately deserve to go to hell. But I'm currently relying on Jesus to save me.
  23. I'm ready to die but I would never commit suicide.
  24. How can death be better than life? Why should we help kill such a precious thing as life? No matter how miserable your life is there is always something good you can do with your life. Don't throw away that opportunity just because your life is far from perfect. How can you say that? You're really starting to annoy me and others on this thread Korskin. you just said: Now please tell me this. If i had some freak accident in which i became totally paralyzed and brain dead but was still living, how in the hell could i somehow find something good to do with my life. With no ability to move or speak or probably think, What can i do? Korskin, you seem very ignorant and arrogant (which is what is expected of a 10 year-old, which I assume you are) so just please forget that this topic exists and leave. I know there is nothing that I really can do to stop you, but I'm asking you to please not post here again. I'm thinking if someone is brain-dead, it's a different story. What I've been talking about so far can't be applied to brain-dead people. I don't expect you to like me or agree with me. But I've done nothing other than sharing my opinions, which you asked for us to do. I actually think you can get to know God. You can't fully grasp everything about him, but you can get to know him. I believe God wants to have a relationship with everyone and by reading the Bible and praying to him I think you learn something about God.
  25. My truth is wrong? That's preposterous.
