  1. We wouldn't exist without God. However, God would exist without us. God didn't need to create us, he created us to love us.
  2. I'm not too sure about this. I'm thinking something like this: Jesus is the truth for everyone - that's an objective truth. Jesus is the truth for me - subjective truth. "Jesus is the truth for everyone" does not equal "Jesus is the truth for me" If a subjective truth equals an objective truth it is no longer a subjective truth. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. God never came or went, he has always been. He's the Alpha and Omega. The beginning and end. God's existence has nothing to do with us.
  3. Great fun.
  4. If God exists, he exists whether I believe it or not. People used to believe Zeus existed too. Now hardly anyone does (if anyone at all?)...Sooo...Something existing is kinda' relevant to someone believing it exists. At least for God's. So are you saying that a God that created everything, only exists if his creation called man believes he exists?
  5. If God exists, he exists whether I believe it or not.
  6. Everything can't be an absolute truth. Example: Me saying "It's cold outside." It's not absolute, it's a relative truth. The statement "It's cold outside." is true for me but not necessarily true for anyone else.
  7. So basically if god said it was ok to kill each other, it would be ok? God is unchanging. Therefore he won't say that, as he has already said that murder is wrong in his commandments. Law can change, God cannot. Its just as absurd for me saying that God would advocate murder as you saying the law could advocate murder. The chance of a government doing something such as that is near impossible, especialy considering the reaction to (other) governments and the consequnces involved. You really cant use that to prove you're point. I can indeed, as my point is that law can change.

  9. I'd rather base my opinions on a possible absolute truth, rather than my own or someone elses speculations. If the Bible isn't the truth, then it's rubbish as I've said before. Why should I believe what the general populace has agreed on? They had a geocentric world view for quite a while. Their views can change. Why is it so important that I have the same opinion as the general populace? Shouldn't you believe what you in your heart believe is right? Sorry, I disagree. The only thing that should tell us what's wrong and right is the law. Whether you choose to abide by the law is your own choice. God's words? Do you mean the words written by people inspired by God. Refer to my previous post on that matter. PS: Buddhism is truly fascinating. :) So basically if the law said it was okay to kill eachother, it would be okay? Yes it's God's words. Meaning it's what he wants to say to us, and he made sure it turned out the way he intended.
  10. They have one good point. We should not encourage sins. But they are lying when saying God doesn't love sinners. He sent his son, Jesus, who sacrified his life for sinners. How much more can you possibly love them?
  11. why do we need the bible to know what's right and wrong? I'm an aethiest, and don't go around stabbing people in the face, and i've never read the bible. Ive grown up in an aethiest family, in an aethiest community. So what's going on with me? Also, how do you know the bible is God's word? There are so many contradictions, obvious mistakes, and general bad things throughout it, that the divinity surely couldn't have been lost through translation. I've always viewed the bible as a collection of metaphorical stories, which gave a rough outline on how to live one's life at the time of its writing. That's still largely true, but obviously sections about slavery and those denounceing homosexuality are outdating and wrong. One last thing, please stop quoting dozens of posts when you're replying to one. Its annoying as hell to have to scroll through... In my opinion the reason you know some rights from wrong is your God given moral. However, there are some things in the Bible that doesn't come natural to man as we're are sinful beings. Exampel: Love you enemies, pray for those who prosecute you etc. And therefore we need the Bible to be sure of what's wrong and right. I'm pretty sure I've said before I believe it's God's words. And if it's not I might aswell trash the Bible instead of living my life by it. Rofl  And stop nesting quotes. Okay, that wasn't very well put. What I mean is that these so called answers you get from observing the world aren't necessarly the truth. Someone may claim they've observed a U.F.O (alien ship), that doesn't mean we all now should believe in U.F.O's. It could have been just about anything.
  12. It was smaller and therefore containing a smaller amount of idiots. In my opinion it was a better community just because it was a smaller one.
  13. Of course there is more to God than what's written in the Bible. When you see something incredibly beautiful or fantastic you might say "there must be a God" just by observing it. But you don't get any answers from observing the world. If you read the Bible and believe it's God's words, it must be more important than your own subjective feelings or views. How can I know that my speculations are the truth. I might aswell be wrong as I can't be sure. That's why we need the Bible to know what's right or wrong. If it's God's words, it must be true. And what God says is more important than what I say or what my anyone else says. Science doesn't acknowledge God, it doesn't say that there is an intelligence behind the creation. I don't think we should ignore everything that's not in the confines of the Bible. The problem is when something contradicts the Bible. Then it's most likely not true. Unless we somehow have misinterpreted the Bible. Everything that isn't mention in the Bible can't be of the same relevance as the things mentioned. This is based on a Bible view saying it's God's words. What I keep saying is that we aren't limited to the Bible. The Bible is just what's most important. Example: The Bible doesn't say what I should have for dinner today or how I should spend the rest of my day, as it's not important and I'm free do whatever I want. However, the Bible says what I should focus on throughout life.
  14. I wouldn't call that a confession. We all need to love more. If human nature was permeated by love, the world wouldn't look like it does. It's more just stating the obvious. If you expect other people to confess anything, you should at least try to come up with something real to confess.
  15. Thanks a lot. I love reading old hiscores. Brings back memories of what RuneScape used to be. Such a different game back then.
  16. My question/point is: What is more important 4 teh followers of God, what teh Bible says or everything that teh Bible doesn't say? Science seems more liek a hobby to me rather then necessary 4 a life with God. My whole point is that god is infinite as is teh universe he created (possibly, aside from phisical limitations, I'd say teh knowlege we can gain is close to if not limitless). If you want to live your life by teh confines of a book, thats your choice, but there is so much else out there, so much of god's creation your shutting yourself off from because it's not necessary according to teh limitations of bible. People wrote teh bible, people have limitations, and therefore teh bible has limitations. teh bible conains nothing of modern science or amazing discoveries of teh universe which god made. You may argue that no one back then knew of these things... well god knew, didn't he? He created it! If teh bible contains none of these things which god created then it has gaps. It's not teh whole story, it's not teh whole truth and my best bet would be that god gave us science, as he made everything, right?. He gave us science to figure out what can't be put in a finite book. Again, live your life within teh confines if you want, it just seems so limited and shut off from god's creation to me. You speak a lot about limitations. I'm my opinion you are limiting God. Why wouldn't he be able to create a book containing what's most important in life? A book that is sufficient. Sure man wrote the book, but that just makes them a tool for God to use in order to say what he wants to say. The rest, that God chose to leave out of the Bible is not of the same importance. Instead people are free to gain as little or as much knowledge about the less important stuff out there. It doesn't make everything else pointless, it's just not as important as what the Bible says. We're not meant to be isolated with our Bibles. We are meant to live life focused on what's important. And what's most important in the Bible? Jesus.

Name: Gustaf Age: 20 Jesus was a jewish carpenter. He quit that though and now he's gonna be a judge someday. I owe that guy a lot, but he says I don't. I do believe him, so I'm kind of eager to meet him.
  18. "I've been a terrible person, please forgive me"
  19. I don't see God as someone who we should fear. I'm not a christian because I fear to end up in hell instead of heaven. By believing in God you are free and have no need to fear anything. God says in the Bible, fear not for I am with you. Since Jesus died for my sins there is nothing to fear and therefore I'm driven not by fear but of love for what he has done for me.
  20. I don't think the gaps are that important. I believe you should focus on what God wants to say to us, not what he doesn't want to say to us. Sure, you might find pleasure in new scientific discoveries but they don't often give me any directions on how to live my life. Why do you need direction? Why do you need to be told how to live your life? You honestly think a life following directions is better than a life of exploration? It doesn't start with me needing directions. I believe in God. He created man and has a plan for mankind. Therefore I want to know his will. If I'm guided by God I'm on the right path. If I'm guided by myself I'm more than likely not.
  21. I believe religion will always be a part of human life, as there is a God. Just look at religious threads on this forum. They usually end up as the biggest threads. So the interest for religion is not fading even though atheism might be more present in the first world than it used to.
  22. My question/point is: What is more important for the followers of God, what the Bible says or everything that the Bible doesn't say? Science seems more like a hobby to me rather than necessary for a life with God.

  24. I don't think that evolution was left out and there are no omissions God didn't intend. And even if the theory of evolution was left out, it would still contradict the current creation story in the Bible. If you need to know why I think they are incompatible, read my earlier posts. I generally don't like an interpretation where you assume the evolution theory is true and try to fit it in.
  25. Thanks to Intarweb for not misinterpreting :) So why do you belive in god? Just because? Some reasons I've already mentioned: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?p=447 ... t=#4475075
