  1. The bandwagon is ridiculous. Just the other day my friend didn't want to fly (from Sweden) to Romania, where she and my sister were going, because of global warming. She thought they should've taken the bus instead. Fortunately we talked some sense into her and they took the plane. Why should we prevent global warming? I don't think the earth will mourn if all humans would die. Actually it's the other way around, if we want to save the earth, eliminating all humans would probably be a good start.
  2. No need to hope she wins as she already won. I'm somewhat amazed that you missed this:
  3. No you weren't: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?p=4769286&highlight=#4769286 There will never be a book like that so I don't need to make the choice. But to seem less boring I'll say I wouldn't use it, since I shouldn't play God. Especially not when that position is already filled with a much more adequate being.
  4. Didn't I see that centipede in King Kong crawling on Ann Darrow? Bugs creep me out, even ants scare me nowadays. I might be developing a bug phobia. Thanks to you for contributing to it.

After just have watched "Borat!" (the movie) I wouldn't agree that there is no such thing as ugly. I had to look away during the nude wrestling scene, it was just unwatchable. Claiming that everyone, including Azamat (from the movie) looks better nude is quite a bold statement. If you say that "there is no such thing as ugly", I'll retaliate with "there is no such thing as beauty".
  6. Currently the NHL playoffs and especially Detroit Red Wings.
  7. Question: What's your taste in music? Comment: Why am I supposed to be interested in music? Question: What do you do? Comment: I just find it utterly boring to have the same conversation with every single person I meet.
  8. When I'd ask about a given subject from a group of people, I'd value the 12 year old's opinion as much as the 50 year olds. I know a lot of kids who are smarter than some adults who hardly have any 'brain activity', they just go to a labour work, watch TV and sleep. They'd easily lose a game of chess, a literature contest, or anything intellectual to smart kids. Don't look at the age; Sure most kids online are jerks.. But look at the content of their message instead. Ignore the age, ethnicity, length, weight, background etc.. Of the poster. Just concentrate on what they have to say and you can learn :) I think we may have different images/experiences of 50-year-olds. My father, about 50, beat me in chess today(we're rather evenly matched). He never watches TV except for the news and reads more than I do. Both my mother and my father would beat me in a general knowledge quiz. An old person is more likely to know something than a young person is. If I have limited time and have to choose which opinions to consider, why would I choose the opinions of Bar Mitzvah's when I can go to the Rabbi?
  9. Age discrimination is a reality because 12-year-olds are immature. From my own experience I'd say that's pretty accurate. You may think you're as mature as you'll ever get, but most likely you're not. The average 12-year-old doesn't have much life experience. Therefore I wouldn't value their opinions as much as an older, wiser person's. A different perspective can be a good thing, but more often than not it's a somewhat ignorant perspective due to lack of knowledge and experience.
  10. Detroit Red Wings. The Red Wings hold the longest current playoff streak of all professional North American sports teams, at 16 consecutive seasons. They've also had some surreal drafting: Nicklas Lidstr̮̦̉̉m 53rd overall. Henrik Zetterberg 210th overall. Pavel Datsyuk 171st overall. These 3 guys are the best players on the team.
  11. I don't think we can blame Paris for 14 year old girls living their fantasy worlds. Did she ask to be a role model for them? If she did, I'd say she's doing a terrible job. But if not, then people imitating Paris are just stupid. Be yourself instead.
  12. Why hate her? Is she really such a terrible person? She has money and she's famous. That opens a lot of doors. Unfortunately a lot of "bad" doors. I don't think she's proud of everything she has done. But who is? Is it her fault that media decides to follow her every move? I don't know, but the media delivers what the people want. Her life is glamorous and extraodinary, filled with juicy stuff to write about. I think we should lay off her back, seriously let people live their lives.
  13. I lost 100$ I had lying around on my desk. I suspect that our former cleaning lady took it, but I don't know. I've also lost two bikes like 200-300$ worth. My father has lost some more valuable things though. Recently a 1500$ GPS and a 4500$ LSD projector.
  14. Listen to the Bible: Ecclesiastes 9:11 I don't think you should value life by the amount of hours you've been on TV nor on other peoples gratitude. What we can do is try to make the world more fair but we have to accept that there will always be poor people and rich people. In my opinion the only thing you really need in life is God. Therefore in a broader perspective, you aren't necessarily better off when you're rich and famous as to poor and insignificant. But as our time on earth still accounts for something, we should try to make it a better place.
  15. http://startsidan.box.se/ A site my friend has made. I started using it and now I can't live without it. It's basically a collection of my links sorted by the number of times I've clicked on each link.
  16. SelÃÆÃâÃâänne has been pretty quiet though. Outscored, 7 points to 6, by Samuel PÃÆÃâÃâÃÂ¥hlsson is not a good sign. I suppose he's been okay, but Anaheim will need for him to step it up as they will be facing a tougher opponent in the next round. In Sweden they often refer to SelÃÆÃâÃâänne as the guy who hasn't won anything. Sure he has a few individual throphies, but a Stanley Cup is probably needed to rub that name off. I'd say he's got a pretty good shot at it with Pronger, Niedermayer and Giguere leading the way.

Why say strangely? It's just an interest like any other. Or at least I think it should be. You don't see anyone saying: "Strangely enough I'm not interested in bird watching". Unless they're being sarcastic of course.

I was thinking more of why you look yourself in the mirror every morning. We all want to look good, I'm not denying that. But the people I was hanging out with on that day of ugliness didn't treat me much differently, though my brother said he didn't like my clothes. Neither did I, so I just laughed. My point is: Our society places to much emphasis on fashion and looks. Your clothes shouldn't define who you are. I'll share a story explaining my views: Last week there was a fashion show at a shopping centre in my town. I didn't know of it before I got there but as I was there and had to wait for my friends I sat down on a bench and started watching. The models were beautiful and had nice looking clothes. I was amazed by how picture perfect they all looked. On the bench beside me sat a mom with a perambulator, a crying baby and three other children having trouble remaining still. She looked dead tired which wasn't strange considering she had to look after four kids at a shopping centre. It was such a great contrast to the glamorous models. To me the most beautiful woman wasn't one of the models but the tired mom who loved and looked after her children.

A reason to dislike fashion is that it's considered normal to have an interest in fashion. If you have clothes that are totally out of fashion, there is a big chance a lot of people will think less of you and they might make fun of you. I don't see why an interest in fashion should be considered greater than an interest in anything else. Because it's a cold fact of life that when people look at you they make an opinion about you. Thats why people turn up to board rooms with suits on and not jeans and a t-shirt. I agree that it shouldn't be more of an interest than anything else, but it is. I don't care what you wear, but i find it interesting a reason to dislike what others wear is because a minority of people may possibly look down on you. Seems quite a stereotypical view for someone who thinks they are a victim of stereotyping. Not sure if I understand what you're saying. But to me fashion isn't really a problem, as it doesn't affect me a lot. I'm talking about people I've seen who are more or less forced to spend a lot of money on clothes in order to fit in. I wouldn't dream of trying to fit in with a group who valued your clothing style more than your other interests/personality. People should try what I did recently, wear your ugliest clothes and go out looking like you do first thing in the morning. It's kind of liberating, not wondering if you or other people think you look good today, since you know you look terrible.

  21. There are some good players in the world championships like Ovechkin, Malkin and a couple of others. But you're right, the tournament is a joke. Sweden only has 1 NHL player currently on their roster and he's not even a very good one (Alexander Steen). Another thing is that only 7 teams really have a chance of winning. The rest of the teams are just there to fill out the 16 spots. I guess they have to try to make the sport bigger but a game between Sweden and Italy isn't very exciting. If you want to watch real hockey, watch the NHL playoffs.

You have a good point. I can only speak for myself but that seems about right. Not only do I lack the interest but I also don't have sufficient knowledge about what people wear these days. I'm not very observant. I've never even bought clothes for my own money. The clothes I have are gifts/presents I've recieved. I find it ridiculous how much money people spend on clothes, shoes etc. I have enough trouble already deciding on what clothes to wear every morning, why would should I add to that vexation? At home I always wear shorts and t-shirt and when it's warm enough outside, around 15 degress celcius, I dress the same way outside. I like to be able to run without discomfort.

The Bible provides answers to metaphysical questions. They are either true or false. I believe they are true. Not really about knowing. What makes you think that there is no chance those answer can be true? What makes you think you know your answers are true? Responding to the bolded part- I never said that. I said no one knows [that they know] the answers, not that it's impossible. It's faith, belief- you're guessing. Anyways, your post pretty much brings up the age old point that "what makes your religion better than anyone elses?". Sure, "the Bible provides answers", but so do another couple billion books. There is nothing to say that the Bible isn't completely wrong and some other religion's right. Again, I'm talking about knowing, not believing. I'm not talking about knowing, I'm talking about believing. I can tell you why I believe I've found the truth but I won't really know for sure until I die. To think you know isn't the same as actually knowing.

I agree it's not clearly shown on earth. Then how could you say that an infinitley compassionate God would allow anyone to [bleep] when he himself has made his existance so questionable in the first place? I would somewhat blame Adam for this, not that I think that I would've done any differently. We're not going to have that kind of close relationship with God, as we had in the first place, until we're in heaven. As for now, God will be the invisible God. Not absent, but it seems like we need faith in order to believe in him. But on the other hand we saw that when he clearly showed himself in Jesus, people still wouldn't believe. Instead they decided to kill him for no good reason. I don't know, maybe Kierkegaard is right saying we need a leap of faith in order to believe. Then again I think there are many ways of becoming a believer. Someone's faith may be based on a certain event or perhaps someone base it on reasoning. I'll throw out the old clicḫ̩̉̉: God works in mysterious ways.
