    RTFM.
  2. blah... more junk and texture... soon as i get everything textured im gonna refine it... usually what I do is throw on the base textures and everything, then detail it all.. so hopefully the sky/grass/maze will look alot better before its finished... but that's all for today folks... edit - oops, didn't mean to post such a big pic.. ill give you the thumbnail though... That leads to a bigger res version... sorry, forgot to save the smaller one... the real image is like 2kx4k or something...
  3. Threw this together... Maze needs texture, any ideas? I was going to do it like hedge style, but now I don't think I will, too much green... Right now I'm thinking plank style... any other ideas?
  4. In illustrator, the tool I would use to do this would be the pen tool... Actually for the straight lines of the maze I would probably just use the line tool, but I can do that in PS as well... This is at a high enough resolution that it is the ideal size for print, so I'm just doing everything in PS.... Much easier and quicker for me.
  5. Well to be honest I have never sketched in one. The only thing I do with them is use the SoftImageXSI we have... But I must say they are pretty cool when all we have is huge dual monitors everywhere. The thing that I like about the small tablet is that I can cover a huge area by just flicking my wrist once. However I'm sure there are some advantages of being able to detail little areas with the larger tablet. I know that when I sketch, sometimes it helps to be able to move my entire arm across the canvas. It would be cool to have 2 of them, one large and one small.
  6. Yeah, like I said, I'll probably end up pentooling the maze so it all has the same FredFlinstone style. Thanks. :)
  7. This is for next years Course Catalog for my school. It has course descriptions for incoming freshman, and new students alike to help plan out their highschool career. This is the cover sketch, and the so-far work on it. Let me know what you think. :) I zoomed up on the top half because I haven't even begun constructing the bottom half. Been working about 45minutes on this so far. Sky is about halfway done. Mountains are just filled, nowhere close to finish; same with the grass and rocks. Text is about half done, I have to make the red part look all cracked and stuff, haven't gotten there yet. The brown extrusion on the letters is pretty much done, I might add some texture in there later on. All of these are basic brushes in PhotoshopCS, and the pen tool. The maze was modeled in Lightwave and took all of 15minutes... I'm not really happy with it though so I'm probably going to just brush the maze, and make it a little hazy. You get what you pay for right? Hopefully the depth of field will stress the focus on the JISD letters, because the whole idea is that it will help them through the maze. I don't know yet, whatever looks best when I get there. Give me your thoughts. Be sure to ask any questions you have regarding style or execution, I'd be happy to fill you in.
  8. They have a drawable LCD where I work.... it's so bad [wagon]. Then the rest of the setups have tablets, most are pretty big, about 15" or so... The one I use at home is the basic wacomGraphireIII, the 3x5 one.... kicks sooo much arse. I'm gonna try and get some pictures of the studio soon, you guys will cream your shorts.
  9. OMG IF I CATCH YOU RIPPING IMGONA REPORT YOU SOOOO FAST. OMG!!111~~
  10. Is it just me or do you want my job? Because from what I can see there is already enough of an [wagon] on this forum. <----------------------------- Anywho, yeah, you killed the font. That font never looks good though. That is the type of font that can only be used once EVER. Landscape is nothing special, but I'm glad you didn't further destroy it by incorporating abstract into it. I admire the ingenuity, but the end results have so far been; garbage.
  11. Since the description is "shading work" I'm guessing I should only critique the shading... It looks pretty accurate, based on the style this is done. Right eye seems a bit dark, and I don't know if the bottom part of the face on the left side should be that dark, down by the lips... The light seems to be coming from my right eyeball, if I was staring right at her. Looks pretty good as far as the technical side, which I believe was your only intent. So, good job. :)
  12. Not really, unless you slice it different. If you posted the code I could probably find the problem, but since you seem to have already fixed it.... I used to have the same problem, which is the reason I asked the question I did. I would either edit my slices or I would (as you did) make smaller slices. Glad to be of help. :)
  13. Tttia - Photoshops pen tool is what you might refer to as a Bezier curve? Something like that in your program? It's the same thing. The pentool creates paths, which are vector based and can be saved as vector. It's just a basic curve tool that makes anchor points and then two elbows to manipulate with. Even 3D modeling programs use the principle of this curve on graph editors and other things. So that's what we mean when we say pentool. :)
  14. What alot of pixelers do, especially for animations, is draw the sprites, and then scan them in. Alot of the more successful sprite pixelers that you see will do this. It helps alot, because most people can't draw on the computer.
  15. Guys... The simple background was part of the idea of it... If I'm reading it right... The simple shading and coloring seem to be intentional. I think alot of crazy values and detail would mess it up. Looks nice as it is. Good work, only thing I could say is that your illustration skills could use some work. :-P Oooohhh disss... :o
  16. Red starfield is too busy. Tone down those stars. With all the light from the planet exploding and stuff, you probably wouldn't see all that. Make the cracks from the explosion extend, (bigger ray of light) and then tone down the stars in the back. See how that looks.
  17. This typically happens when the slice is relatively big, right?
  18. Pen tool.... I started coloring it at school, I post the finished version tomorrow.
  19. So that Time of Death Productions splash I made (which kicked some serious [wagon]) was stolen most likely? Yeah, I wondered why he never paid, and always come up with excuses for not paying.
  20. Ok well I don't know that much about the different arm muscles, but here is a quick 10minute version of what I do when I brush something... I outline it with the pen tool. Stroke the path. Turn my brush to about 12% opacity. Hard round, 9px brush, usually. Then brush on some colors. I select the base color as my foreground and background. Then I slightly lighten and darken each one, and start brushing. After that I smudge them around to make them fill a little better. Added some noise on this one too to give it a more skin like texture. Then I delete the black line and clean up the edges. You can't really see the noise in this small version, but it's there. So, yeah. That's a quick rundown of how I do it.
  21. Are there any programs that can record what I'm doing on my screen for say.... 5 minutes?
  22. Haha.. What gave you that idea. BTW - Requote my post to get the better one... lol
  23. Hopefully you see the potential here? blah Give me a chance? :-P
  24. Get. Out. Of. My. Head. Seriously though, I was thinking about coordinating with somebody (anyone who is willing) a "teaching study" type thing. Maybe where we have like a daily sketch, stuff like that, and teach these guys how to do some real art. I mean, yeah, I like to flame people. But deep down, I also like to help people, and I'm pretty good at it (all of you older people know this) So I think it would be cool to start up like a series of brushing lessons, etc... I'm sure when people see the alternatives to pixel, they will start to pursue different paths. I tried posting some vector work the other day... It failed miserably. I'd like to think it was good, but it just wasn't what the "pixi" boys wanted to see. :(

Dude... People will pay $700 for The Rocks wristband... Is it worth that? No, he probably had them made for about 5 bucks. That isn't the point. The point is that you said you would pay a certain amount, and then you decided to lower the prices just because you didn't feel they were good enough? That's just shady, is all I'm saying. Don't expect much more of a life here on the boards; nobody is going to trust you.
