  1. I'd advise against that actually, I bought him and actually saw no appreciable decrease in voyage time compared to having my dwarf engineer. There's probably a speed cutoff that determines how much time you can cut from a voyage. Also when dealing with all the insane requirements at the moment, there's usually not much space to slot him in :P I get the feeling speed stat will have greater effect once you are travelling further. After all the rudder slot is there purely for speed with +1800 on the top level and jagex wiki talks about purple-hatted speed crew that we don't seem to of seen yet. Wouldn't surprise me if speed stat is kind of dumbed down until 3rd or 4th region when speed crew get 'unlocked' NB: When saying speed crew I specifically mean the purple hatted crew in the same way red are cmb blue are sea and green are morale I am not refering to unique/special units that may or may not have speed stats attached. I agree speed will probably play a bigger role in the future, probably not until at least the 3rd region, but I'd still hold off on buying fireworks enthusiasts and just wait until you can buy the next tier speed guy. Atm all the voyages can easily be completed in a day without speed people on your boat. By the time you've unlocked the next tier speed guy, firework enthusiasts may be equal speed to them anyway, so theres no reason not to recruit them now. Granted though, it is easy to do all voyages in a day atm That's like saying why recruit a eastern combat guy if my level 5 stowaway has the same combat already. It doesn't make any sense to sacrifice morale/combat/seafaring for a speed guy right now anyway.
  2. Idk if this is new along with other world changes but world 84 is now an official living rock caverns world.

  4. You can only do one special voyage for the same adventurer per day. So if you do one you can't do the other, the order doesn't matter. The adventurers have no effect on the other adventurer with the exception of adventurers that can partner together for a special voyage (missionary and biologist can't anyway).
  5. Completely agree. What's the fun in always having 100% success rates.
  6. Random events happen after your ships return and are completely random although certain traits can increase the chances of them happening. The barmaid gossip thing might be set time.
  7. That's actually not a trivial problem. I'm fairly sure it would take a really complex excel formula to figure it out. The easiest(and it's really still probably not too easy) way would probably make the user input their own crew member's stats individually because of level and trait boosts. And then you have to take into account how other crew member's traits effect them. It really seems like it's more trouble than it's worth IMO.
  8. Was just coming here to post this. I used to use imgur but minus allows for larger files.
  9. No the standard voyages for the skull region are fairly easy after you have a few easterner crew members and you need gunpowder to unlock the better deck items. Upgrades that require gunpowder > leveled up arc region crew members. My level 0 easterners replace two of my level 3 stowaways.
  10. Ya I forgot about the overseer. Didn't get lucky enough with crew rolls to get him yesterday but my friend told me about him.
  11. Buy the deck items first. Hull is nice but I'd aim for it after the deck items. Of course there are some crew members that are nice to buy once you get in second region that cost the same as a deck item. Definitely try to have a first mate (or overseer if you're in the second region) on each ship too.
  12. Bought this because the black market guy really thought I needed to buy more chimes today instead of gunpowder and now I have a ridiculous chime:gunpowder ratio that's only growing
  13. Not a problem I'm enjoying this update. (it's pretty much all I've been doing in runescape since the update actually  ) The barmaid's gossip option gives you another standard voyage when she has gossip. I have no idea if it's weekly or not, but yesterday it told me to wait till Thursday for gossip. The voyage is called "Barmaid's Tip" and seems to give random rewards at random difficulty's. This was mine: It required 800 in morale, combat and seafaring (forgot to take a picture of that) but my friend's tip required 2k in each and gave gunpowder along with chimes. Her dialogue when I select gossip right now: I'm assuming it will change tomorrow and probably tell me when the next gossip comes in. But idk I'll have to wait until tomorrow. Here's the human skull icon (increases chance of attracting the assassin adventurer)
  14. At the end of the day you can't prove any of them are real or fake. That's why I almost disregard this entire website.
  15. I wouldn't call myself a fanboy by any means but I am skeptical of a website that lets you review the company as an "employee" without any proof that you've ever been associated with the company at all. Especially with the amount of butt hurt players out there that like to slander jagex's name.
  16. The only thing you have to do to post a review is make an account. You don't have to provide anything else or any information about yourself.
  17. If you put your mouse over a trait it says the description of what it does.
  18. It says "+25 bonus to all stats per unique crew member aboard" I *think* that means it's a +25 bonus for every different type of crew member you have on your ship.
  19. Hey buddy! I was curious.. do you happen to know what exactly it means when it says "per unique crew member aboard"? I have someone with the trait but whenever I add him to the list as well as other people with traits, it doesn't seem to work. Im not entirely sure who constitues a unique crew member. Any help is appreciated from anybody :) I'm fairly sure it means if you have say 3 cyclops and 1 stowaway the bonus is applied to the stowaway because there's only one of that type on the boat. But I could be wrong I'll make sure when my boat gets back. Now that I look again I *think* it means +25 for all stats for every different type of crew member you have aboard. So like +25 if you have all varrock chefs, +50 if you have two types, +75 for 3 and +100 for 4. Although I could be wrong.
  20. You can change which scroll the voyage is for from the port management screen even if you already have the voyage available.
  21. Sea Singer (mage armor) scroll voyage with the whaler You can switch which scroll it is with the port management screen even if you already have the voyage available. Death Lotus (range armor) scroll voyage: Scrimshaw/rocktail soup scroll voyage (they all have the same appearance in the voyage menu): EDIT: The last two pictures have the wrong voyage selected but the description and requirements are the same as the first one.
  22. If you want to merge this with the other player owned ports thread that's fine. It's a rather large update and I couldn't find a list of traits anywhere on the official runescape wiki so I figured I'd help out and post some as I find them. Also I'll try to post pictures of some of the more expensive port upgrades as I get them. A few crew member traits: Plucky - Improved combat (it doesn't say how by how much in a percentage so I'm assuming it's dependent on the crew member's level and base stats) Eagle Eye - Improved Seafaring (assuming the same as plucky) Eager - Improved Morale (...) *Solidarity - Gives +X stats to per unique crew member aboard (does not stack) my personal favorite so far Short Sighted - Reduced Seafaring (see plucky) Rallying Cry - All xp gains for this crew member's boat are increased by 10% **Merchant - Improve the goods received by a mission by X% (does not stack) Good Fortune - Increases the chances of gaining a random event on completing a voyage (does not stack) Staunch - Will give up its own life to save a crew member in distress Loyal - Chance to prevent captain death (the captain has this trait so it may be captain specific) Pilferer - Reduced chance of partial mission success Quick-Footed - Improved speed (golden katana clansman +80) *The amount bonus depends on the type of crew member. First Mate +25, eastern Overseer +50 **The percentage changes with different tiers of merchants. The Ardounge Shopkeeper (first region) gives +10% while the Trader (3rd region) gives +20% Crew members can have more than one trait. Will post more traits as I find crew members with them. Ornate Portal upgrade outside of port: Ornate Portal upgrade inside port: EDIT: Updated info about solidarity. EDIT 2: added staunch. EDIT 3: added loyal and updated merchant EDIT 4: added pilferer EDIT 5: Added Quick-Footed
  23. The cyclops are crew members that you can hire. They appear in the crew members roster randomly and you have to recruit them.
  24. Had a bunch of extra bamboo after I unlocked the second region, finished my second round of voyages and bought all the ship/port parts that require bamboo (with the exception of the bar and office that also require steel) so I bought the ornate portal. It's cosmetic only but I thought it looked nice. Also here are some crew member traits: Plucky - Improved combat (it doesn't say how by how much in a percentage so I'm assuming it's dependent on the crew member's level and base stats) Eagle Eye - Improved Seafaring (assuming the same as plucky) Eager - Improved Morale (...) Solidarity - Gives +25 stats to per unique crew member aboard (does not stack) my personal favorite so far Short Sighted - Reduced Seafaring (see plucky) Rallying Cry - All xp gains for this crew member's boat are increased by 10% Merchant - Improve the goods received by a mission by 10% (does not stack) I know crew members can have more than one trait (my captain has two) but idk what the limit is.
