  1. I think that without the black gradient, it would have a blank area that's too large. Its definately just opinion, but I like it.
  2. I have no experience with any software but Adobe. I was lucky enough to have a brother who could get it at student rates and parents willing to pay half :D I'm sure you could do it, but you'd have to know that software very well to be able to select tools similar to the ones in Illustrator. So.. maybe
  3. That ones good to do Steve. It introduces custom brushes, and some pretty simple 3d shading. I never really learned how to do that before. I was just using Illy as a detailed pen tool  After i saw yours, i looked into what else i could be doing. its a very good tut
  4. Tutorial Link Here Earlier this week, Stevepole made a great piece by following a tutorial. Everyone loved it, and I think people would be amazed at how easy it is to make something that looks great by using Illustrator. It can produce amazing things from 100% scratch ( which i like :) ) It's very easy to follow, and requires little to no drawing-by-hand. Here's mine :D The example epitome of greatness looks like this: This tutorial is great. It shows you step-by-step how to make your own scatter brush. ( No need to give credit to anyone but yourself :) ) Everything that you make on Illustrator is purely your own work. Give it a try everyone. Makes a great background for the Christmas season :P
  5. soa, it may be "centered" but make the W and the sword actually look centered. It might technically be "off" that way but that looks glaringly offcentered now
  6. nay on the dotted lines. i think it may be too proper, too dry, too "text book". I'm not sure what exactly you could do, maybe add a creative element, hard to do without ruining the professional aspect tho.
  7. Maybe i dont understand it. But... I have no idea what that is/says lol
  8. Looks pretty good. In picture A, there's too much space at the bottom imo. (makes the soccer player unaligned vertically) I prefer a navigation bar with buttons to one with links, but thats just me. I'd cut it off where the dark starts on picture B, then put the nav bar up against it. I like the simplicity of it, good work.
  9. New piece up everyone. It's definately my best pen-tooled piece yet. Its a backgound and ME at the same time :)
  10. That might be too confusing. Littleboy is making the next one. Have you chosen the topic LowFat?
  11. Edit: I responded to a post on page1 and thought it was current #-o
  12. Unedited 1. LowFatMilk 2. Zargo_VI 3. Mrshinyredplanet Edited 1. Mrshinyredplanet 2. Stevepole 3. Littleboy(girl o.O?) Tough choices this month. GJ everyone :P
  13. Grats man :) I'll get it one of these times.
  14. Really nice 3D effect. Looks very bright, very clean, very well done. I'm glad to have someone else on tip.it that works on illustrator to share c/c with. You've outdone me on a lot of things with this piece. I'm looking forward to your next project! I didn't mean to be such an [wagon] on my last post. i apologize to you steve.
  15. Another Illustrator person! :o Looks good, your rays seem to tilt inward, not outward. If it wasn't side-by-side with a perfect one, no one would ever notice  Practice making things without meshes and gradients. I took a look through that tut; its definately designed to take no drawing talent :P Get good with the pen or pencil, and you can make 40x better things. You can only do so much with the shape modification tools. Overall, a very very clean piece. Looks great. But for a future one, bust out that pen tool :)
  16. Thanks man :) I will when i find the time Thank you for your feedback. I actually tried at least 15 colors for a background, and chose none. Probably was for the better  I'm looking forward to it. From what I've seen, you have pretty applicable feedback. Maybe I can cash in on some :D
  17. I really like that last one that you posted. The only thing, the sun doesn't follow the same style as everything else. Unlike spia, i like the ring, everything looks great except the sun.

I'm going to follow the crowd and say I love the last one :) The linear one is good.. in black and white. The colored one looks very good up to the point where you changed to a lighter brown. If you could maybe drag the border of it closer to the edge on the right side, it would give it the same rounded effect that the dark brown, main piece has. On the same general idea, drag the top-left side of the light-brown piece so that it shows the same angle as the bottom part of it shows. It looks very good until the color change. Then the light-brown part looks very flat. Keep it up, the last one looks very very cool :D
  19. At first glance, most people won't recognize that's a globe. How is adding slightly realistic color (to a piece that's not meant to look realistic) silly? You added land, why not make it so that people can tell its land? But you're right of course, land is much worse than unidentifyable shapes.
  20. Introduction: Project 1: SOTW - Lego Project 2: Frog Signature Project 3: SOTW - Underwater Theme Project 4: Face Vector Project 5: Personal Business Logo Project 6: Photo-realistic (or what should be  ) DS Project 7: Anime-Style Face Mesh 95% Illustrator - 5% Photoshop I'm not sure what my opinion is of this piece. Approximately 3 hours on illustrator. I finally put some time in on PS with this one. I used the burn tool to add a few shadows. It's nothin that I would call a finished piece, lacks a background etc... but the woman is finished. Here's the final product: I'm trying to learn to draw people using meshes. Meshes are most simply described as... A large gradient that can have endless points of color-reference. You can theoretically make a photo-realistic anything using them. They're incredibly useful but tricky to learn.. This is my 3rd face, however it's my first one that turned out. Here's a picture that might help me explain this better. C/C please! It's always greatly apprecated and usually (if not always) applied later on.
