RuneScape Information

  1. Finished the management part in 8 turns, really all you have to do is spend the first 2 turns just getting workers/resources to hire workers, and so long as you don't get too many bad events you should be fine. Fun little event, but hopefully we'll get a more substantial update in the coming few weeks.
  2. Umm is this fight instanced or could you have someone by you? If you can, venge other would make the fight rather easy... that is if it works.
  3. I believe you win the internets. :P By far the best guess yet, probably what it is too.
  4. "To worship or otherwise" Actually, I think you're right on target with the Dragonkin, given a few other subtleties with the hint. 1) Stryke is strikingly (no pun intended :P) similar to Shrike, which according to wikipedia is part of the "butcher bird" family. Also I just remembered that Shrykes are some sort of evil birdlike race from the Edge Chronicles, haven't really read those in a while. So yeah a birdlike violent race definitely seems reminiscent of the Dragonkin. 2) Lordofwar782 in the "strange power/earthquake" thread just linked the dragonkin to the recent earthquake. Full kudos to him for that find, but it makes me believe that your idea that they are going to "get out" is quite right because of this. In fact, it seems that the dragonkin escape 3 weeks ago during the strange power phenomena, and this update will be a quest to try and stop them... or something like that. Also the French twitter hint translates to "To worship or else..." so it would appear to be a threat more than anything. Either we side with the dragonkin, or we get blown to pieces? Seems likely.
  5. I see in the picture you have black dragonhide, but maybe you wanna consider also bringing a barrows top and bottom for the last part if that's where you're having a ton of trouble? I know it means 2 less brews/restores, but when I got him to berserker form the difference between him hitting on my karil's and on my torag's was extreme. It might be the small edge you need.
  6. It seems if you have access to a pack yak, soul split or overloads he's not too bad. For everyone else he seems to be hell though. Personally I wouldn't mind if they took out his healing back to half health, as it's not really a strategy you can prevent like the roots with the decaying avatar, and doing so would make the fight just barely possible for those around low 80 high 70 combat stats. I think that would be a happy medium between those who don't want him nerfed and those who do? This is from someone who's beat him at any rate. Edit: forgot to include yak in the list of things that make him easy.
  7. Wait a second, I thought protection prayers didn't do anything but then again I never tried protect from range. Are you sure he's switching prayer styles and you're actually able to stop his attacks? If so, Nomad is a loooooooot easier than everyone first thought.
  8. I personally specced with bgs, ranged using ruby e bolts until he was at half health, then switched to diamond e until he went berserker and finally finished him off using a z spear. My gear was: Helm of neitiznot, accumulator, ruby e bolts, fury, rune c'bow, karil's leathertop, mind shield (lol, but every mage def helps I guess?), karil's leatherskirt, barrows gloves, snakeskin boots and an imbued onyx ring. Inventory: Bandos Godsword for speccing, Dharok's platebody + Verac's skirt + Zamorak spear for when he goes berserk, 2 extreme range potions, 1 extreme melee set, 5 super restores (4), 4 normal restores (4), 13 sara brews (4) and 18 more in a war tortoise. Ended the fight with 7 brews (4) and 1 (2). However, this probably only worked for me 'cause I have 92 range and the access to extremes. <_< Due to your ranging level, I wouldn't recommend trying to range him but instead you're probably gonna have to go melee. You should still bring a crossbow and diamond bolts for when he freezes you and uses his -1 max hp hit, but just don't use ruby e then because if the spec goes off exactly as he hits you, you're dead (don't laugh it actually happened to me...) You can use my setup only replace the snakeskin boots with infinity boots if you have them and ditch the mind shield altogether. For your primary melee weapon try both a zammy spear and whip + defender, I personally had more luck with the spear when I tried but that's not enough data to say it's actually better. As for a speccing weapon, either go for dds/d claws/ags for high damage, or try to lower his defence with bgs/darklight/swh. You may also want to try melee void, I used this on my third try with a zamorak spear and it was my second best attempt having died just after he healed the second time. Note that the four first times I tried to beat him I used rocktails and ran out of food every time (except for the ruby e incident <_< ), then I switched to brews and won on my first try lol. So I may have beat him with this setup if I had used brews instead of rocktails. Now for tactics, first of all I cannot stress this enough, brews>rocktails partially because you can attack in between sipping doses if you time it right. This alone should help you tremendously, and if you're having trouble mastering it definitely practice with attack potions on yaks or something like that. The trick is to sip right after you attack and quickly attack him again. Anyways second tactic is to run away directly south (or away from the throne if south isn't the right direction) right as soon as he starts laying his mines 'til you reach one of the furthest pillars, either the southwestern most one or the southeastern most one. Hide behind the pillar so he can't attack you and if you do it correctly he'll run up to you to try and get you in his field of vision. When he gets close enough step out from behind the pillar and attack him. When he says "you cannot hide" or something similar, hug the side of the pillar that would block his line of vision of you. If you do it correctly you should avoid his automatic 75 damage attack, saving you a lot of food/brews. He'll also try to run up to you once again to attack you, but in my experience he'll get himself stuck. During this time you should quickly heal to full health and make sure to go out and attack him asap, otherwise if you're outside his line of vision for too long he'll teleport back to the throne and heal himself to full health. Shortly afterwards he'll clone himself and there will be 4 Nomad's in the room. The last one to attack you is the real copy, so run up to him and whack him to make all the other copies disappear. After a bit more time he'll teleport you to the center of the room, freeze you and start charging up his super epic attack of pwnzers. At this point you have to heal up to full health or you will die. Preferably heal over your max health using rocktails/brews, and as soon as you're done this pull out your range weapon and start hitting him. As soon as he hits you with the attack heal yourself up and start whacking him again. The cycle of mines->75 attack->clones->uber attack will then continue until he reaches about 1/5 of his health, at which point he'll heal himself to half health. After this if you manage to get him to 1/5 of his health one more time, he'll start his berserker melee rush. Right as he starts this, get your melee gear on and get ready to heal A LOT. Things are pretty hectic here so try to keep calm and when you can attack him. With a bit of luck he should go down, and you'll have beaten one of Runescape's hardest challenges!
  9. Huzzah finally beat it after 4 deaths! Using brews instead of rocktails really ended up being the key for me, as being able to attack without the loss of a combat round seemed almost crucial. His last form is ridiculous though, it probably took me as many brews to finish off his berserker form as it did to get to it lol. All in all it was a pretty fun quest and I hope we can look forward to some more awesome boss fights in later quests, I finally have a clue about what they meant for the FTP:3 bosses being challenging though heh. Also, mad respect for any lower levels who beat this quest, I may not be maxed but I still consider myself to have decent stats and I barely squeezed by that fight. It'll be epic for the first sub level 110 that beats it, though I suppose it'll be a combination of awesome skill and luck lol.
  10. Nobody saw THAT coming  . Super hyped for a new quest, and one that furthers the fremennik prophecy at that! Major congrats for Jagex for the best misleading update yet =D>
  11. This guy made a video where we get to see the effects of the level 86 leech special attack curse... I suppose it's not enough data from just one vid, but it seems like leech special attack is ridiculously OP for PvP. Besides the initial specs they dish out at the start, it seems like it would pretty much completely steal someone's ability to spec  . 86 prayer at least doesn't seem useless... the other curses I suppose we'll have to test out. The drain rate would seem to take away part of the benefit of the other leech curses just from my first gut reaction
  12. If it helps at all I got 4 claws over 600 kills, so about 1/150 chance for me. I believe that's kinda lucky though, the actual drop rate is more around 1/200-250. Only had 1 ruined dragon armour drop in that same number of kills. For all kills I used a ring of wealth.
  13. Not sure what MAJ is. Sounds like a sequel to the Curse of Arrav quest to me. It's too soon for the next Fairy Tale quest and if they were going to make new Curse spells they would have released it with the previous magic update. For some reason, I want to say that MAJ has been in a French Twitter hint in the past, but I can't seem to find it in this thread :-( This new update sounds promising (though I haven't done Curse of Arrav and don't have membership). Yeah I said it before in this thread but to save everyone the effort of combing it, MAJ = mise à jour, or update in English. So the second sentence should be "I lost the clue for the Runescape update this week." Pretty much the same thing as all the other clues. EDIT: Beaten lol... ahh well. I honestly don't know which quest they want to release, but it seems like Mysteries of the Mahjarrat or FTP 3. Elemental Workshop would be plausible too, but didn't Jagex say EW3 and next myreque quest would be released only after FTP3? Whatever, we'll know for sure tomorrow.
  14. Yay glad to know I'm not alone lol  . I solved the first one and the third one easily, looked at the third one thought "well it appears to be 200, but that's way too easy, they must be testing my algebra skills!" Bad decision needless to say... Overall this event has been completely awesome, hope tomorrows clues actually require calculus, how epic would that be <3: /wish.
  15. Just be aware that overload potions don't raise your magic level, only your magic damage, so you'll need restore pots to restore your magic level if you use brews. Of course if the monsters you're fighting don't use magic you're fine, but since almost every major boss fight has some form of magic in it they really aren't OP for boss fighting.
