  1. I found this answer particularly interesting, since the goals of the skill seem to be a point of discussion. I appreciate the aim of "no waste products" personally. A lot. In that, I'm glad they bucked convention.
  2. I would've rather had one complex hybrid skill released next year or even the year after that than this oddly-split skill released right now. Maybe it would've allowed them more time and budget to make this skill seem less...stale and reused as Quyneax rightly pointed out.
  3. Why do they keep referring to the high score race? That does not last forever. If you're going to answer long-term concerns (how the skill is trained or structured), then why give answers that are only relevant in the short term? (race 2 skillz 2 fast 4 furious) It bothered me before in all the BTS videos, but they were limited in what they could say. They wanted to keep the skill under wraps and there's only so much that can be revealed. Okay, I get it. The skill is out now, though. The reliance on that tired line when addressing already grumpy players is only going to fan the flames. The longer it takes to quench them, the longer it will be before people can start calming down and appreciating the skill for what it is. This whole ama is more upsetting than it is enlightening. It's too hard to get 12 different colors yet they manage 9 different ones at least for the milestone capes no problem, eh!? EEHHHHH?!?! Or how about the concept that gathering skills don't have to be complex. Or the fact that no one thought to mention a key part of how chronicles appear -- that they're instanced to you briefly. Or the entire skill's premise being that we're healing the world by casting fused bits of guthix's memories to the world, yet they didn't want story bits "popping up" in this often advertised as lore-heavy skill. That the messages from chronicles are deliberately vague because making something where players could re-read what they've witnessed was too damn difficult! The wilderness isn't used at all, not even as a D&D, because they don't want to shut out non-pvpers, presumably because they don't want to make the same traditional mistake that agility did, yet they won't buck tradition where it matters -- making the skill more complex. Or that there's not really much of a point to any of these "convenience" signs/portents/transmutations aside from Divine Locations because they don't make any money - the only thing a gathering skill could be good for. Or that really, this skill won't be "fully released" until its companion skill comes out god knows when because they keep flipflopping on the damn dates. Or that this skill only had 5 months of development time and resources...and it kind of shows. >_>'''' It's enough to make a person scream. I've stopped reading for now. I wish I could say I'm going back to training divination, but I've been doing that the entire time I've wrote this post. I think you haven't trained a gathering skill since 2006 if that's what you really believe.
  4. I love honey nut cheerios :3 But the cheap offbrand ones are even better because they're even less sugary to save money.
  5. And those vines are magically enhanced, and the jadinkos are magically connected to the vine. Therefore it's completely plausible to say that they could be used if Papa Mambo was chosen. I don't understand the problem here.
  6. That has a lot more to do with Microsoft being money grubbing [wagon] than anything else E: and the technical limitations as Gingy rightly pointed out. They charge an exorbitant amount to update something. Sony does checks too but this would work more like netflix than say, the infamous Fez/Minecraft debacles we've all heard about.
  7. Magical protection just implies that the protection is magical in nature. Don't be pedantic. As for your second point: Her being the Jade Vine, which was infused with Mambo's own magic: And please don't go "ohh but being infused with magic doesn't make it magical protectionlbgjsktasflksgateagkat" because I really don't need a hospital bill for another aneurysm. This is the sort of magical protection Papa Mambo could provide. It does not mean it's limited to only that, or that voting him would guarantee jadinkos in lumby. It's simply a statement of plausibility. To think that something so small required this much explanation @_@
  8. How do you know if it sounds right without any reference point to begin with
  9. Why would he bring Jadinkos? We are only after magical wards. Magical protection doesn't necessarily mean wards. The Jadinkos are magical creatures. He very well could bring the non-mutated adult jadinkos for protection.
  10. I voted for "do nothing" because you don't [bleep]ing need to do anything. Magic won't do anything to help. Papa Marimbo might even be worse than doing nothing since he's, you know, an insane demi god (?) anyway. The ZMI mages have allegiance elsewhere. Who knows if the druids can keep it together after losing Guthix. Anyway that's just my two cents.
  11. I have one of those pitch pipe thingies but I couldn't afford a tuner at the time. I'll look into it though when I'm in a better place financially.
  12. Why do people think that if the game came to consoles, the f2p aspect would have to be available? If the biggest argument is that the freemium style clashes with how consoles typically operate, it seems the easiest and probably the most profitable answer is just make console-play members only.
  13. I have a crappy plastic back acoustic guitar that I was going to learn on. That's when I noticed I'm both tone and pitch-deaf. My dad was having a mean cackle when he heard me trying to tune the guitar to the point where one of the strings snapped. If God was kind, his musical talents would've passed to me. (He almost went to Juliard on a full ride, but some stuff IRL got in the way.) Luckily he doesn't resent me for it, he just thought it was funny.
  14. Does it matter if C0re has a regular account and the others do not? If he's working onsite he's likely under the same restrictions that the rest of the staff there are. If he's not under the same restrictions, it's most likely due to the fact that he is restricted as the others would be. Of course we won't know unless they explicitly tell us, but we can make reasonable conclusions based on what we've already seen. What's the point of highlighting possible negligence or a leading question of power abuse when these are already concerns we must face with any other jmod? What's the point of even venturing down this path of discussion if not to insinuate that they're incapable of performing their duties as well as any other joe schmoe that Jagex hires in their very-high-turnover CM department? Saying that things could go wrong is like saying it could rain in the summertime. Of course things could go wrong, but how is this any different than any other time? The only aspect of it that's different than what takes place every day - working from home - already exists. The article references Mod Mat K's oldschool streaming from home.
  15. CM Mods also work on-site and can't log into their jmod accounts outside of the office IIRC. This was changed back when another jmod was hacked. If they did have a typical jmod account, they wouldn't be able to log into their RS accounts because they do work off-site. Since they're running the social media aspects of RS and that would undoubtedly involve them being online, it stands to reason that they don't have typical jmod accounts...which kinda renders the whole article's premise sort of null and void.
  16. Tyler's just telling us about his romantic intentions for his hand, while also informing us of his nailbiting problem. (Does that count as spousal abuse)
  17. There is so much competition now to runescape in the browser based mmo games that if one of them closed it likely wouldn't amount to a large increase. They already do direct advertising; furthermore, sites like miniclip also have large amounts of competition and the people that would use those services are spread out across all of them. Those things alone will not really change the game very much.
  18. I watched all of that. I...wat. Favorite part though? "YOU CANT SHOOT ME DOWN WITH YOUR ARROWS OF LIIIIIIIIIIIIIES"
